  1. Can i represent the Nederlands? I'm UK but they already have two and Dennis is all lonesome at present. If there are no objections, from Dennis of course
  2. Yeah, but i never played on one long enough to feel the pain - it was my Dad's and i only got a few minutes if i was lucky My troubled memories come from the C64 controllers i had - even back then i played games to death, and one day my parents got a call from my teacher, inquiring why i always had huge blisters on my hands, and back then it was considered extremely weird to play video games that much - i think my parents would rather have confessed that they had me ploughing the fields by hand, than admitting i had a video game "problem". The torture devices: Eventually i upgraded to one of these and the inquiries stopped:
  3. Twin wired 360's for me too. They are pretty much guaranteed to work out of the box with anything made in the last few years, nearly all recent emulators recognize them and they are so damn comfortable. One of the best controllers ever made in my opinion. If you spend most of your life playing games like i do, there is none better. I'm not against authenticity at all either though and wouldn't mind having a small selection to break out occasionally, but as i get older i value simplicity more and more. It doesn't get simpler than 360 Pads+GameEx+Xpadder=Easy Life!
  4. No problem, i've been practicing since last time... *cartwheel's* Verified. *Updated OP, DB, RSS. Edit by GC: Updated LB
  5. I have a feeling this one isn't going to last. But i'm getting ever closer to beating that big ass stage five boss. Actually "big" doesn't really cover it so i'm going to use all my imaginative powers here and call it... um... huge ass boss! yeah. look at it! @Ex - only just! But it counts : 2,474,760 *Updated OP, DB, RSS, LB.
  6. No change in position, but i was challenged to beat 250k by Dennis for some reason so, 315,470 *Updated OP, DB, RSS.
  7. I don't believe there is a way to see the status inside of GameEx, however you can always use the external downloader included with GameEx. You can find it either in Windows Menu> GameEx> "Download Artwork and Videos" OR you can run Download Service Utility.exe in your GameEx directory. This external version will carry on regardless of what you do, and not only you that, you can choose which media to download and you have a visible progress bar EDIT - bah Draco Sensei ninja me
  8. The following settings will determine what shows on the MAME list (Setup Wizard> Custom> MAME Settings): And for future reference you really shouldn't be mixing your romsets like that, at least not without using a rom manager. MAME is not like most other emulators - you should really be only using one set and using the exact matching MAME version to run them, so if your romset is 0.149 then you should be using MAME 0.149. If you mix any of this (exe's, roms) you will be causing yourself many headaches down the line, and i suspect are contributing to your current woes. But at least we have you on the right track!
  9. Who's got guns firing now? If you missed it just get up off the ground! i'm your space cadet...

  10. That's exactly right! PS: Don't put it back in the Evo thread
  11. @lighty, both Max and i have given you thorough answers to your questions. In fact one of us has gone beyond the call of duty on this (thanks Max), but neither of us can make you read what advice is given. I suggest you review the advice given, take it in, act upon it. Then come back with your questions. We'll be happy to help you out when you have something to report back.
  12. There isn't a "page" so much that you are seeking, but it can be done already using pics, videos etc, which has been answered already in your thread I understand what you're saying though and a dedicated "System" page, with hardware stats and dates etc would be pretty awesome!
  13. Windows Menu> GameEx> Configuration. I think i know what's happening here - you're creating backgrounds that match the theme you are using - correct? Well, if you are, you will save yourself so much time and effort by just creating your own theme - either from scratch or by editing a pre-existing one. You'll gain so much more control over what is happening You can create a "universal" overlay that sits on top, then just go wild with the backgrounds! If you want you can even change the layout for each system. Say for instance, you could your NES list on the left with media on the right, Master System on the right, with media on the left - you can place anything anywhere. If that is your goal i think you'll do yourself some justice having a mess around with the editor
  14. Actually, for what i think lighty is asking for, you'd need to actually make a Theme. You can change the backgrounds to your own custom one but understand that they will override all theme elements if you do. If you want custom backgrounds, and retain theme elements you'll need to create your own (or customise an existing) theme. Don't be put off by that though - themes are easier to create than you might think! Especially if you start by editing an existing one It's how all our great theme wizards start out There is a theme editor already included with GameEx - taking a look see never harmed anyone.
  15. I believe everything you stated there is absolutely correct Max. And i believe this section is what the OP is seeking: There are many "tricks" to get what you want in GameEx - it is very flexible, but if i may sum Max's post's in a few words: Option one will put the Adverts on the info page as a clickable option ie you'll need to manually play it back. Option two will play a montage on the emulator select page as you are browsing. right where your system logo's usually show. No one ever claimed this hobby was easy Thanks Max for taking the time to explain all that! That is somewhat specialist so you may need to go directly to Emumovies to download. Couldn't say 100 percent.
  16. I like this game! Only played it a couple of times when i was a kid but i think our arcade had a "twitch" stick (non-analogue) - it controls great on my 360 pad 17,851,150: *Updated OP, DB, RSS.
  17. Great review Special-T, it certainly made me want one more! I've put it on my list of future indulgences
  18. Hi Charles, I think you may have missed nullPointer's... point The reason you are experiencing these issues with MAME is that you currently have it setup as a standard emulator which is not the recommended way to use MAME in GameEx. MAME has it's very own dedicated section in GameEx, separate and very different from standard emulators. You can find it here: Setup Wizard> Custom > MAME Settings You will most likely see that, when you load this section, all the paths are pointing to the Demo files. You need to change all these to point to your own MAME.exe, roms, media etc. Once you have done this, you need to boot GameEx, navigate to the real MAME section and click on Update List. This will take some time, but once it has finished all your MAME dreams will come true (including the list containing game titles instead of rom names). To avoid yourself any confusion i would also disable your MAME setup in the standard emulator slot before loading GameEx after your changes, otherwise you will have two mame lists. I believe it is emulator slot #1 in your setup, so go to: Setup Wizard> Custom > Emulator Setup, In Select Emulator, choose which slot you have MAME set in (like i said i believe you put it in slot 1), Change Enabled to No. If you can follow all that then you'll be on track to getting MAME alive Of course, don't hesitate to call back if there's anything you don't understand. Good Luck.
  19. No doubt! And you can get even more if you change just one word each time, to suggest but two: Bliss box 4-way, Dirt box 4-play Ok, second one might be a bit British, but to those who are - am i right?!
  20. Although i've not played it (yet) i don't think it is fair to group Rocksmith with the likes of Guitar Hero, Rock Band etc. One is to enhance the playing of a real instrument, while the others are to mimic as such. BUT i will say this - the fact that these button games are getting your pinky's moving is a good thing, and will no doubt give you a head start should you ever decide to pick up a real guitar/bass
  21. In truth i can't sell it much better than the promo page that Draco linked, other than telling you that you'd be absolute fools to pass this up!! With the "World Ignition" version of Crimzon Clover (as opposed to the original) you really don't need to be a hardcore Shoot 'Em Up/STG fan - it's catered for novices as much as it is die-hards. Most of you that know me well enough are familiar with my song, but just in case you aren't: Crimzon Clover is the best Shmup/STG/Bullet Hell/Danmaku ever made. Period. And i'll whisper them words in my dying breath
  22. Happy Birthday o ye man of few words. You say a hell of a lot through your skills though, and i for one am glad to have you here! A cheer for our reigning highscore leader :win:
  23. I'm all for these "mega-dapters" but i've seen a few of these kickstarter type deals come and go before. They always seem to just disappear. I guess "niche" is a dicey market. I wish the guy all the best though!
  24. I bought the bundle again just for Sonic Generations So worth it! #lookoutforsomegiveawaysthatmayormaynothappeninthefuture EDIT - Sonic & AllStars absolutely frikkin rules! I love it! If any of you fancy your chances... invite me
  25. tl:dr none of them will own me! I'm a bit set in my ways when it comes to browsers - not that i haven't tried many of them - regularly too, but i always switch back to my old fave - FireFox. The extensions are invaluable to me, and it's always been stable as hell for me, so i'm not sure what is happening to you man. There was one pretty unstable release, a few months back but in all the years i've been using it that release was truly a one-off. A dev brain fart i think. Now Chrome - i can see the appeal. It's fast (if you ain't like me), most features are available by default and as mentioned before it'll sync all your devices. It's also quite sleek. But i have major problems with it. Firstly, my behavior is probably outside of the norm but i usually have 15+ tabs open at once, sometimes even 25 or more and FF handles this no problem. In Chrome however i get noticeable instability when i go over 15. Secondly it can't do many things FF can - just to name one whilst echoing Aaron - DownThemAll + it's derivatives. Nothing can grab stuff en mass like FF can Thirdly, and this a biggy for me - the constant frikkin nagging to give up my information! How many times do i have to answer NO?! It's relentless and i will forever stick my stubborn iron boot in the floor on this. It's not just Google, i know this. They are just one of many super-corporations at present leaching information from Average Joe for free and making millions of profit from it. That to me is wrong. I'm not a "freedom fighter" or anything of the sort, but i have got boundries. Consider this - 15 years ago, a man knocks on your door in the evening after you get home from work. His opening line is "Hi sir/madame, i would like your most intimate details, and in exchange i will make your mail faster. All i want to know is: your full name, your spouses full name, your siblings, your spouses siblings, you and your spouses parents, your children, all of your DOB's, where you went to school, what qualifications you have, where you all work now, how long you have worked there... etc ... etc... oh and i'd like pictures of all of you - as many as you can manage." You would either have: 1) laughed hysterically 2) pulled out a shotty and exclaimed "you've got 3 seconds to get the fek off my porch" Right? /rant
