  1. Seeing as Evo will be social oriented to a degree, i think that is one of the best suggestions yet! Not to mention that we could bring "live lists" back in to play with real user/community ratings.
  2. Great tips there Duglim. Just to add to your own advice you can actually hide your desktop icons by Right-Click (desktop)> View> and uncheck "Show desktop icons" I have this set, with a jet black background. Not as effective as setting a Theme background as your wallpaper, but gives you the freedom to switch themes with minimum fuss. Needs must and all that
  3. Keep at it, it'll come to ya . I have to say though, as much as i like Psikyo games - the random map spawns drive me CRAZY!!! AHHHHHHHHH. This is only "hello": 316,200 To my fellow mods - no working DBM yet, but i'm working on it
  4. ditto twice
  5. Hi Jedah, As i understand it, any lifetime licenses purchased after September 1st 2013 will get access to Evolution's social features for free (ie GameEx Online). Any lifetime purchases prior however do not qualify. Your lifetime sub still stands and you will continue to get full access to GameEx. The social features however are brand new and part of Evolution, therefore are awarded to newer subscribers. Check here for more info. EDIT - niiinja Todd San
  6. Nah nah nah. Don't think. CC is the toughest, most thought out shmup ever made. How many times i gotta tell you guys Get good at CC - rule all others. It's that simple. Get through the first 2 stages of CC with zero deaths, and you'll be able to take on any shmup, MAME or otherwise with no problem. I will personally guarantee that you will get better playing CC
  7. This seems to be a big hangup lately, which i find not only strange, but slightly disturbing too. There literally is no reason to want them (mechanical, slots etc) to work... they never will. We could have a discussion about the mechanics, and how cool it is, and i'm sure i'll agree, but when you boil things down - do you want to play? Or just "show"?
  8. Not from a GameEx point of view it doesn't - no. I think you are looking for support in a place where it realistically will not be given. I hate to say it but have you asked the guys at NRage? That to me would be my focus if i were in the same boat. Just saying
  9. HA! As always the incredibly articulate nullPointer puts it bluntly! You'd do well to listen! Legend.
  10. There isn't much documentation as such, but the integrated MAME setup is clear. If you use the integrated method you get: Full descriptions and history for each game/rom. You get series links and recommended games. You also get many advanced features. Using MAME as a regular emulator, you are essentially bypassing what makes GameEx great! If you feel intimidated, in any way, then make a thread and we will help you out
  11. Hi garetmax, I think it should be something like: <yourmame>.exe -nowindow -joy "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Ignore the green if you don't want them options, but the rest should be OK
  12. Yes! It's fast becoming shmup heaven around here! Not played the 1st one in years... here's hoping! See ya soon
  13. Happy birthday! *** U-man FebruarFest 2015 *** All invited, free beer & damen! @ U-man's house!
  14. Also, try removing Japan; from the Game Filter in Setup Wizard> Custom> MAME Settings. As always make sure to Update List afterwards.
  15. I suspected as much. I had a backup plan of using RomLister to get a rough list of roms into a directory and use that as my comparison folder, if you guys had no trade secrets to offer It's not ideal but should give me what i need to save some space. I'm ok with having a few missing, more so than i am having a few thousand over Thanks anyways chaps!
  16. Hey folks, I'm in the position now, where i can finally grab me an EmuMovies lifetime sub, BUT i will only do it if i can get my MAME list sorted. Basically, i only want to download vids for the games on my GameEx list. There are approx 6K games, but the whole set is 29K. Usually, you will point to a directory, and the artwork downloader will compare that folder and go on with business. However, the MAME directory has rediculous amounts of excess! I don't want to download vids to all that! So, is there a way i can grab my GX MAME List, and only download vids relevant to it? I'll listen to all workarounds
  17. For now, i wouldn't spend too much time getting involved with that, i would just concentrate on the basics. For some reason, this is becoming more and more of a problem lately, not sure why, so i will outline for you and anyone who is just getting into MAME as a hobby. Firstly, everything must match! Running MAME 154? You MUST have a 154 romset. Period. Have a 156 romset? You MUST compile a 156 MAME.exe. You should never mix versions when it comes to MAME. It is not like a regular emulator, which is why it doesn't get treated as one in GX. Whenever you can, you should also match all support files in the same manner, so if you have MAME .154, you will need mameinfo, history, catver, etc version 154 to match. I know it seems unforgiving, but MAME is unforgiving - It wants everything to match and you should strive to make that happen. If not then it's probably not realistically going to work for you, at least not flawlessly which i'm sure you want
  18. I don't suppose you can give us a link to that file? I remember when Tom posted it but it got lost. If you've found it, it would be extremely helpful if you could show us where
  19. Not to mention that Casino, pr0n, mahjong etc is filtered by default if you use the filter. They can make up the majority of what you are seeing absent. I personally am glad of this and wouldn't want them in my list, but everyone is different. If you want them included change the filters in Setup Wizard> Custom> MAME Settings (scroll down a bit) Obviously, don't forget to Update List like you always should when making any changes to your MAME Setup
  20. I want to give you a seal of approval but the truth is i have zero experience with CRT's. However, i have been watching u-man's progress since day one and he has done immense ground work on this subject. To the point of insanity in fact I would listen to what he has to say, but also at the same time do your own research. If i ever came to have my own arcade CRT, i would ask him. Just sayin

  22. Also, and i admit i'm not clued up too much on Fighters/ Beat 'em Ups but Marvel Vs Capcom never worked in MAME. It may have worked in Naomi, with some persuassion, or may be even nullDC, but it never worked in MAME - ever. Unless you know something i don't? May be you do If so please enlighten me so i may pass the knowledge on.
  23. Yeah you know this by now Ubes Install Sharks, when it asks (get rid of everything) reset to default
  24. Hi Peterson, I'm not at my GX rig at the moment, but there is an option in Display Options i believe that will let you set your monitor as a low VGA, also there is an option somewhere that will let you explicitly change resolution... apologies that i can't find these options for you at present, but i can assure you they are there Enable them both and you should see some progress
