  1. Try using, workingpath=C:\Program Files\Future Pinball\ BAM\ as your working dir as it can not be in the root FP folder rom filter as *.fpt And a cmd of... "FPLoaderNew.exe" /open "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" /arcaderender /play /exit That is assuming you are running bam in arcade mode of course (does it even work in desktop?). Edit ok i just tried this in my gameex cab and it launches fine but does not exit cleanly - will look at that later. So for those not aware of BAM just check out the video`s on his site, I have just got this going on my pincab and WOW!. Also dboyrecords I noticed that one of your emu`s was set for VP 9.03 and visual pinball 9.15 is now out ,check it out.
  2. Nothing is available to buy, but a solution can be found here if you dont mind geting your hands dirty... http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=106757.0 Good luck with the pincab.
  3. Assuming the OP is using XP then I find the easiest way to have a custom boot image/animation is to use TuneUp (you only need a trial). With this you can pick an image and it just converts it itself - easy. If on win 7 then you need Boot updater but be carefull with this. Then when using instant sheller do not use it to change the boot logo. Another usefull utility for shelled systems is THIS Ahk script that lets you restart explorer with a hot key, its also possible to change the cursor with a Ahk script too!. Hope that helps.
  4. Forget my prior post as I just ran" smccmd --speed 1500" from the desktop and it worked (rotated up) and smccd --speed -1500 will indeed rotate it back people will probably need a way to alter the speed settings themselves depending on set ups. Oh and thanks for the comment on the theme its mostly just arcade 84 dark.
  5. Yes, and I assume that needs to be executed in the pololu install dir (at least in my case thats the only way it works) and thats C:\Program Files (x86)\Pololu\Simple Motor Controller. It could even just be as simple as to launch a bat file or send a key combo if vertical, but hey I am no coder thats for sure.
  6. That would be very cool, so at the moment the motor controler just needs one command smccmd --speed 1500 - for rotate one direction at the speed of 1500 with 3200 being full speed (1500 being my setting). Or smccmd --speed -1500 - for the other direction So at presant I have one AHK script for each direction compiled into an exe that gameex calls and then another one that maps a key combo for manually flipping. like this run smccmd --speed 1500and ^g:: run smccmd --speed -1500,,Hide^d:: run smccmd --speed 1500,,HidereturnThis maps to player one button one and player two joy up or down in my config. Using a usb motor controler board seems like it will be a bit more future proof so a plug-in for this is I think a good idea. Here is a thread on this project
  7. Hi stu, so yeah there are lots of ways to skin this cat, i have found that the vesa mount is not always correct for the real pivot point of the screen. Most people use lazy susan bearings and lots of differing motor set ups this is a good resource of info and this project is what my rotating set up is based on. Good luck with your build!.
  8. Ok, so I thought I should give an update to this - everything works just fine using the above plan. Anyway at the moment mame is split into two emulators (vert + hor) with vert using launch before and after to run two ahk files. Will have to get around to merging them but at the moment this works well enough. One other plus is that now I can have two installs of future pinball - one a classic desktop set up and the other in arcade render mode. http://youtu.be/k_hpSq7e-9g http://youtu.be/2MNBxvIJl-A
  9. Ok , so I have just thought about this a bit more and one workaround is to have an emu config set up just for horizontal mame games and then one for vert. As per http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,128951.0.html'>this solution my motor controller only needs one command that AHK can send from a key press in-turn launched from gameex in the launch after config If that makes sence?, then when exiting the emu another keypress can return the screen back or not depending on its rotation. Its not on a per game basis but should work if nothing more elegant is available.
  10. Hi guys, and sorry if I cannot search properly. So next week I plan to retro fit a rotating monitor to my gameex cab using a Pololu board to control the motor, and notice that most people are using the printer port and not usb. My question is are any of you doing this the usb way and how?. I see that the rotate plug-in for gameex is meant for the printer port method and http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,112254.0.html'>this thread is how I plan to rotate the monitor using a bat file but wonder how to get gameex to call the bat automatically?. Can gameex play nice with the mala startcom plug-in or can the gameex plug-in be coaxed to work with usb or call a bat?. Really I am just trying to get a head start on the project before starting properly, and guess I could just start messing with it to see what works, but if any of you are already doing this any advice is welcome.
  11. If you only want to run the one game then yes draco is right a batch file is the way to go. If however you are wanting to start one rom at boot then exit this rom as normal but then find yourself in your games-list and have all the features of gameex then you can not do this with gameex sorry. I have done exactly this before with theamed cabs but using mala not gameex, this has been brought up before and tom mentioned he may add that feature.in the future. Now tom is a nice guy so I am sure it will show up sometime .
  12. Do you know that I have never made the connection between the two games before - i`d say they are similar. A true vector remake of robotron with vector trails would be something though dont you think?.
  13. sokurah is this just a typo?, as a vector version of robotron would be very very cool?.
  14. Excellent just excellent Sokurah - well done!.
  15. I have a win 8 partition on my HTPC and can see no difference between the W7 and W8 media centers, atleast in the 8400 trail build not the final. Am using the start8 app to put the start orb back and to be honest once the beta key expires I will not be buying a licence, maybe in a year or two when lots of tweaking has happended but not yet.
  16. You could use a resource editor to remove the box - but if you are not exactly sure what you are doing then its best you do not try. Unless ofcourse you first make a disk image, then you can screw around as much as you like and just do a restore if anything breaks. . One other thing that comes to mind are the event sounds, have you disabled them?. Maybe the box shows with the welcome sound (clutching at straws here). Also heres some info some elsewhere.. Go to [Control Panel] [user Accounts] [Change the Way Users Log On and Off]. Uncheck [use the Welcome Screen] and [use Fast User Switching]
  17. Sounds silly, but have you tried a blank password?.
  18. I have had this issue before and the solution was to undo everything IS changed (using the undo function of IS), then redo everything except not enable auto log-in. Then you need to set auto login manually and for me atleast this has worked in the past. Here is a quick paste from an MS page... You can also turn on automatic logon without editing the registry in Windows XP Home Edition and in Windows XP Professional on a computer that is not joined to a domain. To do this, follow these steps: Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type control userpasswords2, and then click OK. Note When users try to display help information in the User Accounts window in Windows XP Home Edition, the help information is not displayed. Additionally, users receive the following error message: Cannot find the Drive:\Windows\System32\users.hlp Help file. Check to see that the file exists on your hard disk drive. If it does not exist, you must reinstall it. Clear the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" check box, and then click Apply. In the Automatically Log On window, type the password in the Password box, and then retype the password in the Confirm Password box. Click OK to close the Automatically Log On window, and then click OK to close the User Accounts window.
  19. There is also an old bug in VP that causes this, the fix is to set the VP exe to run in compatbilty mode for windows NT 4.0 (service pack 5).
  20. Man i just got de ja vue . Tell you what please try the b2s tables they are the format that has won over uvp, and are much easier to set up.
  21. Sounds good!, i have been thinking about adding a sidewinder as i already have one but at the mo my tilt is handled with mercury switches and optionally a second set of flipper buttons. The one drawback for me is that i have become lazy and just tilt using the buttons, so much so that when i get to play a real pin i try to find said non existant buttons . Any contactors for force feedback?, would not go back myself ,even have two hooked to flipper buttons on my mame cab -just love them. The shape of yours is really interesting as i have not seen any before, seems quite versatile for lots of differing emulation just imagine it with a touchscreen.
  22. Great thank you. So to get back on topicare you adding any force feedback thedevilbunny?.
  23. Could use a bat file yes, but with mala i can launch into a set rom at boot then when i exit out of game i am then into the games menu to pick another or have acces to a shutdown menu. I dont know how popular this feature is but in some cases ie a pacman or donkey kong themed cab its a nice touch.
  24. The one by DNAdisturber? that would be good!. So while you are about tom, how can i set gameex up to launch straight into one mame rom with no splash screens or distractions as mala will?. Sorry again for hyjacking the thread.
  25. Good answers, I know what you mean about having a nice text menu driven FE for fast game browsing i totaly agree, thats why i like gameex too. I do admit to using hyperpin on my pincab as with only about 150 games and an SSD, flicking through is fine and i like some of the ways the menu has specific pinball functions (F3 ect). Also as you say gameex is easy to set up and can do anything i can think of. My last two cabs have both run mala though but that is only because they are one game theme cabs (starwars and tron) and if a cab only runs mame then i am thinking i will stick with mala, but for the full cab package then yeah gameex all the way.
