I guess it depends on how you have it set up... it seems to me that you can edit the key assignments to perform different things in GameEx using the Advanced Config -> Input Options and manually mapping your keys. The only problem I forsee is that your wheel would be kind of like pressing left and right on a controller and GameEx needs an up and down movement to scroll game lists... Am I completely wrong here?
First of all, you should donate if you dislike the nag screen. When GameEx loads and that screen comes up, you have to wait a minute or so before hitting any keys. Hitting a key will take you to the 'Donate' web site. Hope that helps!
Gameex seems to be doing everything right and something outside is crashing it. This happens when you try to create video snaps only? You can do screenshots okay? It almost looks to me like your FFDShow codec pack is corrupted somehow... Unless were talking MAME videos which are a whole other beast.
I haven't noteced any lag really... It takes a while to get Metal Slug 5 started sometimes but generally I haven't had any issues at all. I don't mind using vanilla MAME (I switch back and forth all the time because the updates take so long to get here and I like to be on top of the newest games) and I haven't noticed anything with that either. Using it right now for .112 as a matter of fact. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a way to add a rendering plugin for MAME? Then I wouldn't need plus at all. Back to the point: No real noticable slowdown on my machine on either one.
Similar issue here when running ZiNc and CHD games. I found that with a new fan I was not seeing the seizures anymore. I don't know if that will help you in your search but that's what it turned out to be for me. Moral of the story was cab ventilation was key since a tight squeeze made things hot quickly - especially a day or so after running it nonstop.
I haven't seen that in Vista or XP... I wonder if you didn't add an extension to the folder or changed the Opens With... under the Properties box when you were screwing around with your icons? Just a thought...
Hey Emph! No worries about the link dying, I added it over at CHQ. Here's the link. I'm adding a custom bezel portal and I'll be uploading that there as well. Thanks!
If Kawaks was substituted for MAME in the GameEx MAME list (like Model 2 and ZiNc) I would use it, but for me it's all MAMEPlus!. Of course I use MAMEplus! for the filters... MAME handles these games just fine IMHO. I'm on satellite internet so I can't play games against anyone online anyways.
Hello everyone... I just bought a Vista Home Premium HP Pavillion/AMD DC/Nvidia laptop. I was just wondering if it's stable and running on the Vista system before I try to install it? The other issue is this: The res is 1440x900 and I've never used anything above 1024x768. Is this going to present any problems I should know about? I'm almost afraid of Vista since it's new to me so any suggestions would be awesome.
The only thing about that is they're listed that way in the catver.ini file. You can manually change that with any text editor. You just need to know what the name of the ROM set is - like golg13 and such. Easiest way to find out the rom set name is to look at it in MAME32 and add the rom name to the list. Don't forget to update your MAME list after changing any folders. Hope that helps!
Sure thing. Here's the zip file containing the full set of logos and the custom lists I created. Extraxt the icons to your GameEx/Themes/xx-theme you're using-xx/Media/Logos folder. You can extract the folder lists where ever's good for you - just remember to point GameEx at 'em. Update the MAME game list and away you go! Enjoy everyone!
It's like xmas in February! Thanks Tom! I can't wait to impliment the icons! PS - Does this mean MAMEWah layouts are ready for full conversion? *drools*
