  1. Not to be one who argues Stu... You know I always respect your input. However, a GoodMerge complete set (with duplicates and all compressed into a .7z file) my ROM sets take up nearly the same amount of space on my hard drive as a full NoIntro set. I'm a collector and I feel like I need every copy of every game to have a complete library, so I'm all about GoodMerge. Especially with GameEx's 7-zip support, which is still on my top 5 list for best features. Just an opinion and a suggestion for a fellow collector in a similar situation.
  2. I don't believe there is any way to do that currently. That is, unless you create a video slide show AVI file and use that in place of your AVI previews... Good feature request though.
  3. I use vanilla MAME and I am not seeing any problems like this. Did you run the 'Verify Setup' option after you set up GameEx? You can find the option on the setup wizard. If it was a wacky path the wiz would tell you. It almost sounds like a problem with your build of M32... You using an experimental version... like 115u4 or some crazy thing? If so, we unfortunately don't offer support for any build other than stable builds (like 114, 115, etc.) Also, is this every game or specific sets or BIOSes? Does your Attract Mode function properly? I also noticed you don't have a command line argument for Direct3D... I don't think that's the issue, but if it's been awhile since you updated MAME a lot of things have changed this year - especially in the rendering department.
  4. Couldn't you install MAME and just not run any ROM sets for it, or run one of the Public Domain ROM sets from the MAME web site just so there's something to run? I think GameEx always starts with a MAME rom and this seems like a quick fix to me. The screen saver would work that way, no? I haven't tried it, I'm merely suggesting.
  5. No, thank you! I've always been happy to help everyone, and I'm truly honored to be a member of the team. Three cheers for the finest piece of gaming software on the entire planet... Without which I would still be running LameWah.
  6. That, my friend, is what Cowering's GoodTools are for. Link Link
  7. Most certainly the Search feature. With thousands of ROMs a search feature would very much rule!
  8. I've been after these for some time now.
  9. I heartily agree on that Jombee.+
  10. Vista Premium Dual Core Aero etc. and I can confirm this. XP SP2 2 gig etc. this does not seem to be a problem. Vista issue indeed. MAME seems to be unaffected. I would also like to add that GoodMerge games seem to be the only ones that have this problem. <<UPDATE>> My last assumption was incorrect. My cab must have been offline because it just updated when I relaunched and the problem occurs on my SP2 setup as well. Like I suspected before... this only seems to happen on GoodMerge games. My Playstation and GBA games seem to launch great. Hoping for a quick fix as well!
  11. Great actually! I have NES and SNES ready to go (boxes, start screens, in-game and carts). Just about to start SEGA SMS and GEN in the next few days. These will be added to the big ConfigHQ update I'm planning over the next week or so. I'll post when everything is ready.

    Good Merge

If you have a complete set of ROMs and are a registered GameEx user, the pros certainly outweigh the cons. First off, having all your games merged saves space. I can fit a full set of NES, SNES, GEN, SMS on one DVD, as opposed to 5 or 6 DVDs unzipped. Secondly, the list is organized neatly. No 30 versions of Super Mario Bros unless I go into the SMB .7z. The list in GameEx simply states Super Mario Bros and the next screen displays the contents of the archive. Even the JAP nad EUR versions are in the Super Mario Bros archive. It's a pain in the arse to get it done, but you can have a full complete set of ROMs in the same amount of space that you can hold a NoIntro set. I personally would rather have the complete library of games. I do not, however, use merged MAME ROMs. That makes my MAME set harder to update. Hope that helps!
  13. Actually... Funny you should mention that! I actually created emu music for the menus for each emulator. I mistakingly thought this feature was already available when I mixed them. So I more or less have a bunch of emulator music just waiting to be used. Perhaps this is a good feature request.
  14. Isn't there an option to supress warnings in the config? PS... I remembered the suggestion but forgot where it came from. My bad! Good to see you back around Han!
  15. First of all, use GoodGUI. That works better. Then download the dat file and set the paths in 'file->options' I have never liked GoodWindows. It never worked right for me from the get go.
  16. I make the appropriate changes and set the cfg as a read only. That's also helpful if you have a controller that you unplug, since controller settings will be erased if you remove the controller. Hope that helps!
  17. Yes as a matter of fact it was. I don't know how that happened since I don't recall disabling that option. My bad.
  18. I like Option 1 the best. It appears more authentic to me for whatever reason. Just an opinion.
  19. You shouldn't have to do any manual editing anyway. Everything is editable from the Advanced Config and the Setup Wizard. Tom doesn't support manual edits so you'll have to try Stu's method. Chances are it'll probably work out.
  20. That might be a theme issue... Some themes improperly display game information for me. Did you try changing to Media Center and seeing of that works or not??
  21. Sure. My custom emulator screens (like Valhalla has one for NES, SNES, etc. You know.) don't come up at all. Instead emubak.png comes up for all of them. I set them in the Theme.ini and the Advanced Config. I'm going to try the new build right now and I'll let you know what happens. .:EDIT:. No dice. The emulator backgrounds don't show up. Not sure why that is.
  22. Just me here, or did we all lose our custom emu backgrounds? I got Valhalla in and all my settings are correct...
  23. zsnes... ahem... So it won't launch any games?
  24. MapKeys=yes Command=fusion.exe -fullscreen "[ROMpath]\[RomFile]" Hide Desktop=True That's all you really need to use.
