Hi Han. The pixel problem surfaced when I lightened up the absolute black, I will be fixing this tomorrow (I'm off to a concert today). If you're still having issues with custom lists, I posted much more thorough instructions in the Theme Release thread. Thanks for using these!

I thought GameEx had some type if tool in it to prevent loss of favorites? Am I wrong?

Is there a way to disable the sound in the preview snaps? They sound horrible with my ambiance.mp3 running at the same time...

Sounds more like a faulty command line argument to me... But I've been known to be wrong. Maybe post that GameEx log file so I can see what CL Arguments you're passing to MAME?

So here's what we got so far: I updated the Extended MAME Icon Pack to it's final version. All the games in all categories of the favorites files are current as of MAME 0.120 (which happily adds SF3 among some other less significant releases). I also seperated MAZE & PUZZLE games to be two seperate catagories and created an icon for each. The update includes all folders, icons, and GameEx default icons: These can be downloaded here: CHQ Extended MAME Icons Pack (v0.120) For those of you who prefer the default MAME icons for GameEx, that pack includes all the default categories. This is a screenie of the new logos: and is available for download here: Default MAME icons for GameEx All icons in both packs have had the Absolute Black bug fixed (thanks Headkaze!), and the new icons have been further smoothed to remove any impurities that were there before (which was really noticable in the Valhalla theme). I want to make sure and thank Amos82 for the original design, and for donating the PSD file that made it possible for me to use the original text and gloss in both the default and extended icons. Without Amos, GameEx just wouldn't be as cool and as colorful as it is now. I also want to thank Firebrand X for his Valhalla theme, which actually inspired these icons. Big props! TO INSTALL: Simply unzip the rar archive using WinRAR, WinACE or 7-zip. For the default pack: Overwrite and/or place all the logos contained in the MAME Icons folder in the current theme's MEDIA/LOGOS folder. Then, you simply need to open GameEx and you'll be able to see the new logos. For the Extended pack: Follow above instructions and also place all the logos contained in the Favorites/Icons folder in the current theme's MEDIA/LOGOS folder. Extract the contents Favorites Folders to a convienient place on your hard drive. The default GameEx path is in 'customfolders' within your MAME directory. Next, go into GameEx settings, and point GameEx at this folder. The setting is under Basic MAME Settings in the Advanced Configuration menu. On the second page, point GameEx at the folder you created for the ini files under the 'Custom Lists Path' option. Launch GameEx, go into the MAME menu and select the 'Update List' option. GameEx will ask if you're sure, click the box to proceed. Wait for a while. Spend some time with your kids. Heck, write some overly complicated pseudocode for figuring interest on your credit cards and email it to me. I wouldn't mind! If you did everything right, after the list updates, you should be able to see the new genres with selectable games contained in the list. You can create your own 'favorites' files for use in GameEx. I made several that are lists by genre (casino, fighting, platformers, puzzle, etc) and included icons for them all. Now if you put those in, point GameEx at them (under custom lists in Advanced MAME Settings), and update the MAME list, the extra icons will show up on the main MAME screen in GameEx. Kind of an added little piece of bling if you will.

So, I finished making all the custom logos that accompany my GameEx Favorites inis. Folks, I give you the ConfigHQ Extended MAME Icon Pack (Update 2). This rar includes all the icons for MAME, a set of custom MAME folders by genre, and custom icons for these folders. If you like the M series, these will compliment the existing set rather nicely. TO INSTALL: Simply unzip the archive and place all the logos in the theme's MEDIA/LOGOS folder. These logos are in two folders within the archive: MAME Icons and Favorites/Icons. Extract the contents Favorites Folders to a convienient place on your hard drive. Go into GameEx settings, and point GameEx at this folder. The setting is under MAME Advanced Setup I believe... Last page under a setting called custom MAME lists or what have you. Update your game list. If you did everything right, you got yourself a complete set of icons. Enjoy!! Hello everyone! Sorry to sit on my laurels for so long, but here is the updated logo set finally! I know GameEx can't handle both of the live icons yet, but hopefully Tom will assign each catagory its own logo in the next build. So in addition to the originals, there's 4 new icons: A GameEx Live MAWS Icon, A GameEx Live Favorites icon, a generic Live icon and a Not Played icon. I will be uploading the extended set with all the custom folders and matching text later on in the day, so be on lookout for those. Simply extract these to the current theme's Media/Logos directory and there ya go! Thanks to everyone who was waiting! @ Amos: Thanks for saving my ass on this one! I had replacements I was going to post, but I think it's easy and more satisfying to make your own. With the PSD files, everyone could add a nice touch of personal sweetness. @ Iano: Sorry I didn't get to it sooner. I forgot all about it actually... Glad you got everything you needed. If any of you would like the new icons as opposed to making your own, I have made icons for the new categories and I would be happy to post them for everyone. Just say the word. And by the way... Amos really deserves the credit for these - I just hollowed out the middle of the M and added a snapshot in a layer behind it. Pretty simple stuff really.

As of this writing, all reported Vista issues have been solved/addressed. I have pruned the obsolete entries in this sticky.

No... But what is it you want to see?

I use 'em too... More games / systems in your DBs than are currently available in GameEx. It would be super sweet to get that ESRB rating in there on the games page... Then maybe a plugin could be made that discriminates use of games that are above a certain level, like say 'T' games require a password. That way my kids aren't playing 'Leisure Suit Larry' and snickering softly so as not to get caught.

When you launch MAME you could load a game and press TAB (I think?)... That's how to set up your controller for all MAME games anyways.
