Awesome stuff there! My old lady says I go in spurts too... Don't know if that's really a good thing.
-
What's to stop us from doing that using a console instead of MAME? @DJ Infinity: It takes a lot more than venting over MAME to get you banned. We have always embraced free speech here, but bashing other members isn't acceptable. Respectfully venting about MAME certainly won't earn you a ban! In all honesty I've only seen two people get banned since I came to this forum, and they really had to earn it... No one here typically bans anyone without majority moderator vote... Unless of course in extreme circumstances (and I think you all know what I mean). Don't be afraid.

BlueEx and RedEx are both available in the default theme.7z download on this page. As they are in the inital theme pack, I don't have them hosted on CHQ. However, in a few seconds I will un-rar them and link you to them directly. Download links below: BlueEx Suite RedEx Suite

We all would like Kaillera support! That's no secret. However, the bottom line is that MAME machines were never intended to play people online, so I understand why that particular feature would step on a few toes. I still feel the cheat engine in MAME should be removed also. If it's an argument of authenticity, why do we have all these features that a real cab could never accomplish? Save states: Gone. Video creation: Gone. Board re-creation is the ultimate goal, but these features contradict that. Sometimes it seems that MAME devs are full of s**t when it comes to the 'authenticity' issue, and it sucks when the MAME community suffers over it. That's why we have unofficial MAME builds that add support that the MAME team shuns. I can deal with the fact we may never have Kaillera support, but c'mon! Don't give us some things and disallow others. It should be all or nothing, or they're just contradicting themselves. I guess I'm just frustrated by the way we're forced to smell the dev's s**t but we're not allowed to complain. Maybe that's just me.

Awesome! I'm kinda sad I missed out on the initial launch of the Search feature when I was on Easter holiday... It's like my own little easter egg! Thanks Tom! You STILL rule... After all these years.
-
Cool! I always like to see some participation. I can revise dats pretty easily, and I appreciate any in-depth help you can offer me. Let me know how your comparison turns out, and I'll be more than happy to revise my DAT sets accordingly.
-
There's ways around that 'infinite quarters' problem even, just the solution is more on the down low since MAME DEVs get all pissy about it.
-
It's best to do this outside of gameex, and use, say, Adobe Live or Vegas to edit them. It's a bit more involved than you guys think.. Your other option is to use the native 'create videos' option built right into GameEx, but that will only shoot 30 seconds from launch so it's give and take as far as accuracy.

Alternate link HERE if you need it.

Poor Tom... After this, what's left to add? I can't WAIT!
-
I've never even been there... I was trying to keep current with sort of a hybrid between GoodTools and NoIntro's DAT files, since most commonly the torrents and packs people download are in this format. If they do have some that aren't in the DAT, I'd be happy to add them myself to the DATs. I'll go comb over RomHacking and see what's there. However, at this time the only DAT with translated ROM sets is the SNES one. The idea to include translated ROMs only came to me sort of recently.
-
Updated the SNES dat to include 99% or better English translated games. Renamed Japanese files to appropriate American titles where possible. Also fixed some CRCs that were incorrect and updated some to better dumps.
-
Your wish is my command! I hate having to dig for this thread everytime I update anyway.
-
I wish I could help, but I've never had any problems like you're having... Just like Windows, sometimes a clean install is a good thing.
-
Okay. I have finished the above DATs, making them final versions for all the systems I've done so far. All duplicates were removed, and all of them are confirmed working. Time to move on to another system! If anyone downloaded the previous DAT files, please download them again. You should have a flawless experience (hopefully!!)
-
Between 'Click compile' and 'Have a good day', you forgot to mention 'wait for a long time' or 'make a grilled cheese sandwich'.
-
You must not be using a dedicated cab... I just disable the screensaver because GameEx's is so much cooler.
-
Thanks as always for your work and prompt solutions, Tom.

Hey gang! I've started making DAT files for clrMAMEpro to clean up my games list. I hope someone finds these as useful as I do... I really hate having all those clones in my game list (not to mention PD ports and hacks), and frankly GoodMerge only makes things a little more complicated. These DAT files will be updated, so if you feel I missed a ROM or one needs to be removed, post here and I will see to it that it gets done. Also, feel free to report any bugs here. I plan on adding RomCenter DAT files also, but right now I'm concentrating on CMP since I use that more often. Clean ROM names without region and dump info, and clean ZIP names makes for a quick selection and less questions from your cab admiring friends. Enjoy! .

Happy birthday Tom! Glad to see you hit #1! You gonna celebrate with a newly implimented search feature? Haha! Joking of course!! Unless you really were going to, then I was TOTALLY serious.
-
I honestly doubt it has anything to do with the black panels around the edges of the manual. They aren't absolute black anyhow... This is more of a problem with GameEx I think... Even if it is a minor flaw, it will most likely be addressed soon since that's a registered version feature. Just gotta wait til Tom sees it, and can reproduce the error on his machine. Did you say you were only having issues with these two manuals and not any other ones? Or any other emulators rather? .:EDIT:. By the way, I wanted to point out that I tested this on an XP machine to reproduce the error, so it isn't directly related to Vista.
-
Yes of course... Ages ago. My Super Mario Bros 3 manual views just fine I'm pretty sure. I'll check again when I get home. Unless there's a new version of the plugin I didn't know about, that shouldn't be the issue.

You know the PDF file has to match the game name, right? I renamed your Adventure PDF to 8 Eyes (U).pdf so I could open and view the manual. It launched Adobe Reader okay, but after a few seconds GameEx completely crashed. I am using the latest version of Acrobat.
