  1. OK, so my crappy board died (it was a refurb anyway and cost me 25 bucks), so I went and got some new stuff to play with: This video card and this mobo. Hopefully I will not be disappointed. Sadly though, this means I have to basically gut and rebuild my cab again (I had some changes I wanted to make anyway), but won't have to buy a new processor for now (although I may up it to a quad core later). I think I may also finally bite the bullet and install Windows 7, since I already have a copy set aside for the new PC I was planning. Hopefully I won't find myself trying to murder anyone in the process. Just wanted to let you all know that I'll be limited on what I can do for now without GameEx running on anything.
  2. +1 for this! Ben, you know you're invaluable to the team, and I don't have to tell you that. But credit is certainly due, and it would be tough for me to put into words the gratitude we all owe you. Great thread mesk!
  3. Thanks guys!
  4. All you do is point the line at the batch file like so: LaunchBefore="C:\AutoHotKey\daphne.bat" That's assuming of course that the batch file is in the "C:\AutoHotKey" directory. As Tom would say, Cheers.
  5. Best $50 I ever spent anyways! I am cutting the hole for it in my jukebox and getting another one.
  6. Ohhhh man! This is GREAT! Exactly what I was looking for!! I love how configurable this thing is! Putting a panel in front of the cab (or maybe on the side, haven't decided yet) with the internal connectors: 2 USB ports, an eSATA port, line-in, headphones, mic, PS/2, and L/R RCA outs!! Whoever invented this is a friggin GENIOUS! It even comes in black with a flip down cover! Ordering this first thing tomorrow!!
  7. Ok, so I have an audio hub (headphone/mic/line-in) that I want to wire into the cab. This hub plugs directly into the mobo. The problem is that the wires aren't long enough to reach the spot I plan to put it. So the question is this: What gauge wire do standard computers use for wiring stuff? I plan to cut and solder extensions in, and want to do it right the first time. The wire gauge is comparable to what's bundled inside a standard phone cable. Anyone know?
  8. ...and I'll bet it won't be the last! Great job as always Drac! You're kind of like a theme factory! Haha! Seriously though, I swear you get a little better every time!
  9. Or 'I robbed the bank. That's true. But I burned the money within 24 hours, so"
  10. ::Launch your AHK Script :START @echo off ::Make sure it's in the right drive first! C: ::Change the directory cd "C:\AutoHotKey\" ::Launch the executable start "" daphne.exe :END ::EoF
  11. They do look nice, but on Newegg I didn't see one with an LED panel in front in the same price range. That was the thing that really made me consider it. I got a $50 gift credit from there and $149 seems to be the wife's 'sweet spot'. After the board, hdd, blu-ray burner/3d player, cpu, ram, and software, I may never drum up enough to justify it... probably take a year to build it! My kids are old enough to know better though, so no worries there (thank God!)
  12. Sorry, but know how it feels to fire up 'Funhouse' and have the screen stop just long enough to hear the sound of the ball drop down the middle chute. Frustrating to say the least!
  13. Pinball never ran well enough for me to get serious about until I stepped up to a dual core. Even a split second of glitch or lag is enough to ruin a heated pinball game. The old p4 just wasn't up to the task for me, and was actually the reason I finally decided to beef up the cabinet. You have been warned! On a side note, XP has always done a great job in my cab, but I'm not running 8GB of RAM either! Also was thinking about building an HTPC. Anyone play with one of the Antec Fusion boxes? I thought it looked pretty pimp.
  14. Well you could add 'missle.zip' to the 'filter these roms' section and add 'missle2.zip' to the 'don't filter these roms' list under 'Advanced MAME Settings' within GameEx and update your list again.
  15. I personally prefer #3. Although #2 seems more vivid, for some reason I can't explain I feel like #3 seems more like it was projected on a military screen in a conference room (not sure that's what you were going for, that's just what I thought about right away).
  16. Man you're gonna make me finally set up Radical Bikers! *LOL*
  17. The fam's is a P4 but it just seems so ssslllooowww compared to the rig, and that's only got 2 gb ram and it's not even dual channel! They can have that. All they ever do is watch annoying orange on youtube and play roblox anyways. The wifey's got a netbook with an atom and that's plenty fast enough for her to read the daily paper and do her facebook on. As long as they're contained they'll stay off my lappy!
  18. You can set it up to play the AVIs too I think. But for me I don't run other emus in attract because I love the info bezel GameEx shows for MAME games. If this could happen in my emus too that would make me switch over.
  19. Craigslist? /me jealous! Would be cool to have a dev machine like that for non-gaming purposes. Can't let my computer be upstaged by the cab! Haha!
  20. Wait, what? Holy balls that's cheap!
  21. It's pretty easy to 'wire' your house by using the outlets. Nowadays you can use your electrical grid as an ethernet network. I was thinking about this before I snaked in the cat-5e cable to my hub downstairs. Still kinda regret having not decided to do this. The transfer speeds are great! That's of course if you ever decide to wire your network. Huge benefit if you ask me.
  22. ^^BUMP! *LOL*
  23. I rename my exe vpinball.exe so I don't have to 'f' with GameEx settings everytime I update visual pinball. Take my tip or leave it.
  24. Do you use a custom MAME build? If so, rebuild your exe. You may also want to try deleting your MAME.ini too. I personally would check your Windows crash report/event log and see what it says.
  25. I have this issue only once in a great while, but I use GameEx filters to pull out those roms which do not run in MAME.
