UPDATE: Added 2 UltraStik 360s with restrictor kits and an iPac2 courtesy of Ultimarc! Added 1 wired XBOX 360 controller courtesy of the GameEx Staff! Re-balanced the prize levels and added a 4th place tier!
I use the 'controls path' field in the emu setup menu for displaying my custom made controller graphic before a game starts. It pops up for about 5 seconds and you can either use a static one or make one that shows distinct controls for each game.
Vanilla MAME does if you compile it yourself and use the hiscore and nag removal patch over at BYOAC. You can use Headkaze's MAME Compiler 64 to do all the hard work for you. It's located here along with instructions on how to do this. .:EDIT:. Too slow! LOL
Either way it won't be 'what it was'. I honestly think my monitor shows it in 4:3 aspect because when I played basesall the other day with my dad, there were black bars on the side. Again I'll confirm this after work.
I'm pretty sure you can do this since I have a ws monitor in my cab and I don't stretch the image to fill it. I'll have to look at it after work to make sure though. I can't imagine playing an INTV game on my ws! Blach!
If you really want to you can, but in all honesty the NeoGeo CDs are pretty damn close to identical ports of arcade titles (except they're on CD) and they run slower due to the original hardware having a laughable 2x read speed. And for the record I have yet to find a single NeoGeo ROM that doesn't play 100% in MAME.
Our station just donated a chunk to Project: Homecomming for this exact type of thing. They even have a 'relaxation camp' for soldiers returning home to enjoy an all expenses paid camping vacation to get away from the BS and re-connect with their families. It's a noble cause, and they deserve it!
