Yeah I'm sure. I snagged the DLL off my XP machine when I installed Nestopia's unofficial build on the sourceforge page. My cab doesn't have dx9 and that's a 9 DLL.

Happy birthday AB!

This DLL isn't included in new DirectX packs. You need to do a Google search for d3dx9_43.dll and put it in Windows > System32 folder. Same thing for pSX although I think its a different DLL (d3dx9_41.DLL I think?).

Update your catver.ini and point GameEx at it. -
Indeed. The themes I make are universal to all systems regardless of the game. So you run a Contra based theme for Game Info, but it's the same images no matter what the game is that's playing (except the game snapshots that is). Here's a theme I made for Duck Hunt. I haven't posted it on the theme download topic yet but I will in a second. This shows the banner while it's searching online for Last.FM data: As you cans see, it's a Duck Hunt banner no matter what it's doing based on the image paths I specified in the theme's XML. I put an assload of work in to make the plugin compatible with GameEx in windowed mode recently, so you don't need 2 monitors to use it (although that's what it's made to do). Feel free to play around with it. Edit: Here's the Duck Hunt theme I mentioned up there:

If that's the case it would indeed be a lot of work for me (would need a suitable way to load themes, write a block that picks that image, etc). I think Drac said it about as well as I could.
-
I mean, anyone can customize the imagery to their liking in any way they like. It's really up to the designer how it'll look... Unless I missed the question.
-
:'( I don't really use my cab for that so wouldn't have thought to try it. Any chance of having it?
-
Absolutely GORGEOUS!!! Very well done, Drac ol' buddy! It looks AWESOME with the default theme too! I'm really looking forward to this theme!!
-
So does the DB info run through the plugin system when a movie is launched?
-
Sure Ill give it a throw. It didn't work for me before because Silverlight was stealing focus. Happy to try it on the laptop.
-
It doesn't suck too awful bad... He put this plugin out. Give it a throw and see how it flies.
-
Yeah, I know what I said earlier... Here's a Game Info theme based off of Contra: I really like the way the "no image available" snap came out. Download it here: That really is all... For now...

Thanks. It's kind of my baby ATM. I've definitely learned a lot since I started working on this!

Pretty easy actually... You make the image and fill out the XML. Then all you gotta do is apply the theme in the configuration for the plugin. The easiest way is to open up a current theme's XML (MegaMAME is the most complete, I make art for everything since it's included in the plugin, and makes a good reference). If it'll help ya, here's a copy of the XML: <game_info> <theme name="MegaMAME Extreme" author="Adultery"> <logo>MegaMAME\MM_Logo.png</logo> <preview>MegaMAME\MM_Preview.png</preview> <desc>A skin for the plugin which was created to accompany the MegaMAME theme.</desc> </theme> <images> <game_noimg>MegaMAME\No_Img.png</game_noimg> <game_bg>MegaMAME\BG_Img.png</game_bg> <attract_bg>MegaMAME\Attract_BG_Img.png</attract_bg> <attract_logo>MegaMAME\Attract_Img.png</attract_logo> <juke_bg>MegaMAME\Juke_BG_Img.png</juke_bg> <juke_lfm_bg>MegaMAME\Juke_BG_Img.png</juke_lfm_bg> <juke_noimg>MegaMAME\Juke_No_Img.png</juke_noimg> <juke_loading>MegaMAME\Juke_Loading.png</juke_loading> <diag_bg>MegaMAME\Diag_Img.png</diag_bg> <diag_logo>MegaMAME\Diag_Logo.gif</diag_logo> <cp_bak>MegaMAME\CP_Back.png</cp_bak> </images> <font> <color>FFFFFF</color> </font></game_info> Simple as that. All image spots support animated GIFs as well as the usual snap extensions... Most of my themes have an animated GIF tucked in there (the loading image for the jukebox is where I like to use them most often). The CP background isn't used yet but will be in a future update, and juke_lfm_bg is only supported if the user applies the Last.FM patch. As with any project I can't say how cool it is to have the plugin match up with your theme. It really adds a nice little extra something special IMHO.

One more in me yet! I generally don't like bumping my own threads, but ahh well. Here's a skin for Tetris: Download it from here: I swear that's the last thing today.
-
Here's a game info theme I whipped up for Sonic The Hedgehog: You can download it from the themes post or snag it from here: I'd be lying if I didn't say I got some more theme ideas.

This is it for a while.. I swear!! Gotta move on to the database project! 1.1.4 is out: (Plugin) Found and fixed a bug in GameEx's jukebox mode (Plugin) Ironed out a bug where the jukebox overlay disappears in attract mode (Plugin) Added a font color option to the theme XML (Plugin) Found and fixed a tiny bug in the theme XML loading (Plugin) Cleaned up a bunch of old code (Configuration) Huge update to theme previews. I added in the scroll, placed the preview on your game screen, and added fading. This is about as good of an idea as you could want to get. Grab it here: Added Drac's theme to the theme thread located here. Thanks for being the first to take that jump buddy! I also made a new theme for the plugin called "Super Mario's World" that you can download here: Enjoy!

Too bad we don't have a centralized DB for GameEx info... We could use that for sure. I can imagine the RSS feed of what users are doing... Like "Draco91962 played Popeye 2 days ago"!
-
Roger that! Thanks Tom!
-
Ahh I thought so. So the name doesn't matter and there's no need to point to it in the theme.ini then?
-
Nothing wrong with that! You're constantly raising the bar! Keep it up!
-
Aww cheddar. I thought I saw this in an earlier changelog. I don't really need to worry about the font being loaded into memory, I'll just install it on my cabinet. Thanks Ben!
-
Wow! Killer!! Really awesome to see you back in the saddle, Tempest! Looking forward to seeing more cool stuff come out of your camp! What's this written in? Did you finally "take the plunge" and jump on C#/VB.NET?
