Lower quality images in a higher quality shell?

I put a camera in my cabinet for this exact reason. One day I'll actually get around to making the plugin that takes the pictures with it. For now it sits hidden behind the glass waiting to take its first picture. :-)My cab is Mario themed, I cut out an invincibility star from the bezel work and put a camera in, and trimmed it out with yellow foam. Hardly anyone notices it, which will make for more fun when I get it to actually snap pictures. :-)

I have two thoughts on this. Either you have a failing hdd/ram module or your video drivers need updating. That's obviously just an off the cuff guess though. I would start with a mem test. :-)

Rar is the issue, not 7zip. :-) If I had to guess it was that he's using a current version of winrar to compress them, and there has been a new compression standard released. :-) The 7zip dll doesn't handle rar uncompression... or does it? If it does then maybe they removed rar support?

I mean the guide is pretty thorough, if you're unwilling to try then I don't know what to tell you.

/side note: I know how ya feel Han. My dad got a new laptop, I inherited his less than a year old HP i5 x 8 gb ddr. But unfortunately he hated Windows 8 and had called me everyday pissed off. It was a good score for me, but the price tag is way too high! :-) Gonna try that classic shell, hopefully he'll feel better about it. :-)

Usually the games are not free Han. Cheap yes, but not free. :-) DRM free, as in buy it once and install it wherever you want as many times as you want.

W00t! Don't worry, it's cool. I wouldn't be so sure except it was pretty recent that I tested. I may have even asked Tom if he would fix it as I would consider that a bug. The way you explained it would truly make for great map integration, leaving the order up to the user... so I was kinda bummed it didn't work that way.

That's already been a standard for a long time on the Wii emulators for snes, nes, and gba. :-) You can also browse games by boxart. :-)

I bet I could build a refurb a lot cheaper, the displays and DMD are where it tends to get expensive. I'm going o can find one with a working dmd in it already.

Mednafen is nice, but I got into Magic Engine before it was in a place where Mednafen was a good emulator, and if it ain't broke don't fix it. Magic Engine runs everything I throw at it nicely, and I have no problem paying for an emulator if it works nicely.

Nope, it's still alphabetical. I use map files for all my consoles. I added the feature in MFM and was testing when I discovered this. You can try it if ya don't believe me. :-)

I'm not a hundred on this but I don't think the free version supports command line. I'll check my config when I get home but it looks ok to me.

No actually I think they're under the emulator settings in the ini now that you mention it. :-)

That's a bug, it should add that app id to the db3, if it's not Tom needs to know about it. :-)

Well my setup is a hybrid of both Xpadder and the MAME settings. I use regular joystick inputs for these buttons, and mine is working without Xpadder, so I can assure you this works without any extra settings. A couple of thoughts here: is your MAME.ini set to read only? Immediately after mapping and it says it's mapped, enter the tab menu and look again. Are they still correctly mapped? If so, do they work? Or are your settings not being applied when you exit the game and reenter it? This sounds more and more like a problem with MAME itself, in which case I owe you an apology, Tempest. My bad. :-)
