[RESOLVED] mame, binding keyboard keys to gamepad.
Adultery replied to Bringamosa's topic in General
You can, but he said he's using xpadder. If you add the -joy cl switch to mame, you can configure the joystick too, but he said he was using Xpadder and trying to map key strokes to the joystick. In which case, he needs DI. :-) I think what's going on here is your mapping keys to the joy stick in MAME but trying to set key strokes in the ui. In many cases MAME will have a default joystick mapping for any connected game pads, but not for those buttons. If you edit the input and press the button you want to use on the joystick instead of the keyboard, you can eliminate Xpadder altogether, which is what Tempest is suggesting. -

Again, it's because of Xpadder here. You need DI for that to work. -

Can you remove it from the list with the DEL key? -

You can switch between raw and di? Since when? Xpadder only works in DI, so that's the issue here I think, unless I misread. -

You need to compile mame yourself to accept direct input. Headkaze's MAME Compiler 64 offers this functionality. You'll have to do a Google search for it, I'm in tapatalk and don't have a link in front of me. -

Darren huh? So are you *really* Dick York or Dick Sergeant? Team York baby! :-) For those not as old as I am, that was a Bewitched reference. Google it. :-) -
If have to defer to someone who uses rar files, I prefer 7-zip myself. The dll might need updating since the new rar super compression extension came out, I'm not sure.

[GX EXLUSIVE BETA] Retro Achievements Launcher
Adultery replied to Adultery's topic in User Projects
I'm planning on a core version, but not until after I finish up the gui. This won't accept commands like that will, and it won't need internet connectivity to work. I'm gonna do the keymapper support for this before I start that though. -
RETRO ACHIEVEMENTS LAUNCHER Current Version: 0.0.1 (BETA RELEASE) The Retro Achievements Launcher is your all-in-one launcher for adding achievements to your favorite classic games. This utility can handle many aspects, including listing achievements and progress for each game supported by the RetroAchievements.org development team. This release is still in beta, for a list of upcoming features check out the list at the end of this post. Current features include: See all the supported games by systemCurrently the launcher supports the following systems: NES, SNES, Genesis/Mega Drive, TG 16 - PC Engine, GameBoy, GameBoy Color, GameBoy AdvanceThe app lists the games in the RA database, games without achievements attached show up as "Unavailable" in the game details paneDownload, update, and install all systems supported by the RA communityPreesing the EMULATOR SETTINGS button launches the editor: The INSTALL button will install the emulator into the path you specifyThe UPDATE button downloads and installs the emulator in your current pathThe CONFIGURE button launches the emulator without a ROM so you can make changes to the emulatorThe WEB PAGE button takes you to the emulator's page on RetroAchievements.orgSpecify Launch Before/Launch After optionsAdding an EXE and args to either of these will set up an application to launch at the time you specifySupports BAT filesGame LaunchingBrowse to the ROM you want to play and press LAUNCH. This will launch your game immediately.See your current score and rankThe bottom of the window shows your current score and overall rank on RetroAchievements.org Future development: Keymapper SupportSet up your profile options for Xpadder or Joy2KeyThe keymapper app you select will launch and close with the emulator, using the profiles you specifyRA User SearchSearch for and see achievements and user data for a user you specifyZipped ROM SupportFor emulators that don't accept zipped ROMs, the launcher handles the unzipping of your ROMs for youPossible 7-zip support if I get around to itCore Launcher EXEThis will be a seperate project. Once I finish the UI, I will make an EXE that handles the launching in a command-line environment for full GameEx integrationThe configuration will be read from the UI settings, and no user intervention will be necessary other than setting it up in GameEx -> CommandLine=RALauncherCore.exe -system 0 -rom "[RomPath]/[RomFile]" Notes: As this is a BETA release, there may be some issues with it (although I haven't personally had any issues). If you do happen to hit a snag, please report it here. This release uses a new DLL that I will release for future developers, that handles pretty much all the RA work in itself. You can get DataSets containing much of the data, and get the URLs for several RA features including download paths, forum topic paths, and emulator pages. This DLL also taps into the new Retro Achievements Web API system that I put together, which is publicly available, and supports API calls in XML, JSON, PHP dumps, and Tables. You can have a look at that or see some sample API calls here. Thanks to Scott over at RA for his help and support, and Draco for his header logo I used in this app. If you want to give it a run, download it from here.

It's worth the price just based on the updates and the Labour of love involved. :-) I'll let a non partial user tell you their opinions. I'm a bit biased. :-)
-
Adrd long as I don't have to rewrite the app, I'm cool with it. :-) You could have a top 1000 if you want. Haha!
-
Yes! Thanks for the add, Han! :-)

Not sure how you mean "others can access your stuff". Keep your password secure and you won't have an issue. :-) For me it means I can remotely manage my cabinet from here when my kids have a problem, which is a clear benefit IMHO.

I was close, but then I got crazy in the club throwing too many drinks. I'll play again after I finish downloading Brutal Legend, if that ever finishes (curse you, DSL and your slow 7 mb top speed! Curse you!!!) That's the only thing about Steam I hate is the download engine. It should download while I play another game instead of pausing, that's just lame.

W00t!

Okay, so for that you need to figure out the name of the application that play this game runs from the processes manager, and under advanced emulator options > advanced config, select the process wait tab and add the process name to it, save it as as new file, enable it, and go. Basically that tells GameEx to wait for that process to close before coming back, and I assume that exe launches the game and then closes itself, so GameEx thinks it's done.
-
PS: if you have problems with the launch before and launch after command, there's a Plugin for that too (QuickLaunch). GameEx's launch before/after/also command can be temperamental sometimes.

WANTED: Tom's Funhouse pinball machine. Planning to make a pincab? I'm looking around for a used/decommissioned pinball machine also, preferably something older that I can completely redesign but use the structure itself. Kind of like a refurbished cab. :-)
-
Null has a good suggestion there, try that one. :-)
-
Well it needs to go in the Launch Before section of the emulator setup. I think it's "C:/path.to.dtools/dtlite.exe" -mount 0 "C:/path.to.iso/game.iso" And unmount is: "C:/path.to.dtools/dtlite.exe" -unmount 0 I'll check when I get home from work too be sure though.
-
You wouldn't use the plugin at all in your case. The loader is for running games from iso, not from exe. Your situation is different so it won't work that way. If the exe is an ahk script, couldn't you run that before the game starts, or does the exe actually launch the game too? What you're doing is not normal practice, and I'm failing to fully understand what you're doing. Explain to me exactly what that exe does. Does it load a driver or a key mapper of some sort, then launch the game on the iso? Does it only launch the key script and monitor the game, and you then need to launch the game? If I had the game and the exe I could test more efficiently, but I don't so I'm flying completely blind here.

Hope he didn't have Evol Intent. :-)

Oh, I played a few and almost had it... Looks like this is gonna be harder than I thought. :-)
