  1. Thanks guys! I have an idea what the decoder ring might read, but Google might think I was gay
  2. Are you certain that the logos have actually disappeared or is it that you switched themes? An upgrade generally does not delete files. You can also modify or replace the logos from one them with those of another or replace them entirely with whatever you desire. There are quite a few logo packs on the main GameEx site (you may find them here) . If you have any image editing experience, you may want to look into GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program) if you haven't the $$ to spend on Photoshop. While I have borrowed from a good many themes and the logo packs, I have done my share of "googling" for images to manipulate for my own use within my custom themes and find GIMP to be a quite capable PS alternative.
  3. Wow! I have to admit this was totally unexpected! Thanks for the props, Tom! My 20-sumpin's will be glad to hear that someone thinks I am "cool" other than myself! I hope I don't dissappoint! P.S. Is my decoder ring in the mail?
  4. That would be awesome! We have a few AutoIt gurus in the forums. I even recently downloaded the latest version (although not a programmer by any stretch, I like to tinker). Thanks!
  5. Glad you were able to get it resolved! I see you found the PATH to enlightenment (or Snaps as it were ). This is probably the best support forum I've ever joined. I have learned more about the various emus here than I have in the other forums. Glad to have ya here!
  6. Following is an excerpt from Loaders (Wrappers) By Tempest Visual Pinball Loader: This is a loader to hide the windows that open when VPinball is executed. Inside the .7z, you will find: [Mapping Off] Exit (ESC+Q).ini - Advanced config (Copy to: GameEx\CONFIG\EMULATORS) VPinball.ini - Emulator Config (Use the 'Import' Button - Make sure to check your paths) VPinball.png - Image used to hide VPinball (You can use your own image, make sure it's named VPinBall.png) VpinBallLoader.exe - Loader Program If you already have Vpinball setup in GameEX, Use: "C:\Vpinball\VPinballLoader.exe" "[ROMFILE]" "[WORKINGPATH]" as your Command, adjusting the path of course. VPinballLoader.7z (758.27K)
  7. I have noticed an increasing number of forum posts where issues/errors are being reported. After suggestions are made to workaround or resolve the error, there is no response from the person requesting the assistance as to whether or not the error has been resolved. There have also been quite a few repeat original threads that are regarding the same issue by the same person. I know that all of us (new and old) here at the GameEx forums have at one time or another have been guilty of the above and just wanted to remind everyone (myself included) that there are resources available that we should try to avail ourselves of first before starting a new thread. I know that I often forget them myself in my enthusiasm for using this great frontend and support from fellow GameEx users. Below are a few great resources that we should be aware of and utilize prior to posting a new issue: FAQ - usually the best place to start, especially if new to the software. It contains basic, yet valuable information for the new installation of GameEx. How to ask for Help - Probably one of the most important references that should be consulted before posting an error within the forums (Thanks, Tempest!). Please review this first! It contains steps to resolve most common issues and how to best report to the forum the errors you may encounter that the steps within cannot resolve. User Submitted Configs, Map Files, Wrappers and Databases (Uploads) - Contains a plethora of information for the most common emulators supported by GameEx. These are but a few of the gems to be found in our forums that are most frequently accessed: - Submissions by fReQuEnCy - excellent resource for loaders, wrappers, and general getting your emu up and running goodness. - Loaders (Wrappers) By Tempest is also a good source for loaders/wrappers by Tempest. Flash, and other forum members. - Applications and Guides by Tempest - another good source for various support applications and guides. Etiquette - There are no links to provide. This is the common sense courtesy and manners that our parents and society try to instill in each of us. - If someone asks you a question, please don't be offended if you have performed the steps being asked. It is possible you left that part out of your request for help. - If you received help and the issue is resolved, let everyone know what worked and what did not. - If you chance upon a solution to an issue that you encountered, but do not see a recent post regarding - please share! It is likely someone else might be in need of that knowledge you possess! - Please be patient! Like most of us, Tom has a life (or so it has been rumored ), job, etc. outside of GameEx. As such, he may not respond on your time table. Other members may be of help to you. If you have an feature/enhancement request, please post it here. He may get to it on the next release. Your request may not be feasible due to program or OS limitations. Many of us have made our financial contribution towards this great piece of software. As with any software, we are being allowed to use it and do not necessarily "own" it or its creator! I have seen a few instances where some note that they "are considering purchasing the full version, but.." or similar comments. IMHO, it does not matter if you are using the free version or registered version other than that some issues you may encounter with the free version may not be an issues at all . It is possible that the functionality doesn't exist until you have registered the product. Regardless, we are all here to help one another and contribute to the continued evolution of this product and community of users.
  8. psybertech and DarkKniyt - Have you upgraded your GameEx installation to the 11.48 which addresses the error you encountered? Please let us know if this resolved the issue or if we can be of further help regarding.
  9. Please provide copies of your GameEx logs from both PCs so that we can better help you get to the bottom of the issue. Thanks!
  10. You need to confirm that you have the correct paths mapped in GameEx.
  11. Happy New Year!
  12. But it was a save, none-the-less!
  13. Well, you are correct, sir. Consider it an enhancement request?
  14. As Frequency noted, 7z and zip file formats are supported. Please extract the files and then recompress them using one of these supported formats and let us know if this resolves the issue.
  15. It is also possible to import/convert your favorite MaLa theme using GameEx's theme editor.
  16. Well, I did find a basic game launcher for Windows that can be launched from GameEx with very little memory footprint. The author's site can be found here called Game Launcher. I was able to launch most of the games I have downloaded from Steam with the obvious exception of those that require launching through the Steam launcher. Game Launcher (not to be confused with the emulator launcher/frontend by the same name) will load, allow you to select the game and will also allow you to load box art files. It will display them to the right and will also display the box art from the last 8 games played above the installed games list. When you select a game, it launches and Game Launcher will then unload from memory. When you exit the game, you will then go back to GameEx.
  17. Andre, Can you provide a copy of your gameex log file?
  18. Agreed. Will see if I can drum up some alternatives.
  19. I know that Tom had made some mention about it, but do not recall a specific time line as there have been quite a few fixes and enhancements that have required priority. You may want to refer to this post as this may be of help to you.
  20. Netbook or Notebook or Mini Notebook - who cares? The distinctions are blurring between all of them. I could build a desktop using SSM, but it wouldn't make it any more a netbook than standing in a garage makes you a car. But back to the point, 250 GB is plenty big enough to put much of what you could want but depending on what you load, it will fill up quickly.
  21. Kinda beefy for a netbook - could probably work pretty well. Question for ya, what will you use as a controller? Since it has a few USB ports, you may be able to get away with something not requiring a lot of power, such as a Logitech dual action gamepad. 250GB will not be much space for 3-D cabs, video snaps, manuals, etc. Perhaps a list-only view with some of the HTPC extras disabled.
  22. You may be able to, however, keep in mind that they integrate the GPU with the mobo and share RAM accordingly. Might be able to pull it off with the older emus but have some speed issues with the newer platforms.
  23. How does it feel? Happy Birthday!
  24. I've ordered a pair of the Netgear adapters to give a go. My only major concern is that you cannot put a surge supressor between the adapter and outlet (at least as far as I am aware). Living in the Lightning Capital of the World (Florida) is a bit of concern.
  25. Well, I am venturing into the ethernet over powerline arena for use with my Xbox 360. Has anyone tried this as of yet? I was consering wireless but the speeds seem to be much better and being able to take to any room in the house without sacrificing throughput due to signal loss seems more viable (and, comparable in price to buying a wireless adapter). I know this is not an Xbox 360 forum, but was thinking this may be a viable option for those who have trouble getting a reliable wireless signal to their cab or HTPC.
