  1. Have had to do the same (not necessarily the torrents) to get someone back up and running on too many occasions. When I was single it helped me score a few free steak dinners installing new HDDs and OS!
  2. hmm.. my father-in-law said the same thing. Didn't read the instructions thoroughly that instructed him on how to create a restore disk from the partition. You've learned a critical lesson, Padawan!
  3. I do not see that as an option - how should the Login feature be enable to do so?
  4. NEW FEATURE REQUEST! - SWTICH USERS As part of the Exit GameEx options - Have an option to Switch Users so that in multiple-user cabs or HTPC setups other users can pull up their themes, emus, etc.
  5. Does GameEx automatically create missing videos? If it's supposed to, then it's broken. If nothing else, it should also allow for using the no image file if it is an option under it. Something ain't quite right....
  6. I went through my setup and the "Create Snaps" option does not show under MAME or DAPHNE. It does show up under Winkawaks, Console, Handheld, PC emulators. Not sure why it no longer shows under MAME or DAPHNE (and will not display No Image Available logo even though the option and entry for a path shows for each).
  7. I still think that this will require a feature request (if even possible) so that you can use the GameEx bezels for those games without one supress the GameEx bezels option for those with a bezel.
  8. I think that if you move everything as is, directory for directory, you should be fine. You will be required to make changes within the emulator(s) and GameEx Configuration to reflect the new drive letter (If external HDD was F, will need to change paths to point to C).
  9. And there I was thinking that my suggestion might be a little difficult!
  10. To be honest, I do not think that the theme is ever an issue (other than where someone has put the function bar or if they exclude it entirely. I went through my theme and noticed that create snaps is not showing yet is enabled in the configuration, so something is amiss. I have not used it so never really noticed it until now.
  11. The only problem I see with what you are wanting to do is that the MAME menus themselves in GameEx. The MultiPlayer Simultaneous or Four Player, Horizontal, Vertical, etc. are preset categories that draw from the game data to determine their category. If you choose to use Custom Menus, the only option I could see possible would be to setup MAME for each category you are wanting to use for your files (as a separate emulator), placing those ROM files in a separate directory based upon those categories and setting the path accordingly. (this is where GameEx gurus can chime in and tell me if I am wrong or if they know of a simpler way). There is no user guide or help guide. I have started a thread here with some information that might get you going in the right direction if you decide on this option.
  12. If it is not showing in default theme, check your settings in Advances Configuration to ensure that the option is not disabled.
  13. For those of you using Windows 7, you might be interested in the Tweaks.com Logon Changer for Windows 7. It is a very simple utility to use and will scale whatever image you want to use to the appropriate size needed by Windows 7, gives you a test option to ensure that the image (jpg) appears as you would like it, and give you the option to restore to the Windows 7 default logon screen. I am posting this information here as I will likely use this app when I get around to building my HTPC and/or cab to keep my themes consistant from Logon to MCE to GameEx.
  14. I do not as of yet - what light guns are you using?
  15. Just about any of them will run very well. I guess the question is - What do you want to emulate? Below are a few I use or have tinkered with: Arcade - MAME (I run MAMEUI64 for 64-bit Windows) - WinKawaks - CPS / Neo-Geo emulator - Daphne - Laser Disc emulator (Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, etc.) Pinball - Future Pinball - Virtual Pinball/PinMAME Console - Project 64 - Nintendo 64 emu - Dolphin - Nintendo GameCube and Wii emu - M.E.S.S. - Emulates multiple systems including early Atari consoles You may want to check out Frequency's post here for a more comprehensive list of what GameEx supports.
  16. Bumping the thread - For those whom have not registered on the BYOAC forums and desire to cast your vote for your favorite frontend, here is the link.

  18. HK - can you post the link to the new poll so we can respond yet again to show our support for GameEx? Thanks!
  19. From what I have seen it is still an issue with VP9 - not sure if there is a documented solution. I did find a reference in one of the Pinball Nirvana threads to VP-Man Frontend which seems to handle some of the compatibility issues and helps with loading VP8 tables and VP9 tables within their respective versions in addition to running FP through one interface. Are any of our GameEx gurus familiar with this program and is it something that can be run from GameEx?
  20. Driving to NM to boost an unused cab... hate to see waste!
  21. Currently - Desktop PC Future - HTPC, Arcade Cab
  22. Thanks, Tom! Even with the new price structure it is still a steal when one considers the frequency of updates and the very active support forums!
  23. LOL I guess you are right. It is in the theme, in GameEx by changing the view, and whatever images you are selecting to display. What I was trying to say is that there are multple places where adjustments can be made to achieve the desired outcome and not just something you can use the theme editor only to change. That will take some time and tinkering with the various options available. If he is wanting to use box covers instead of snaps, then he will need to set the snaps path to whatever directory contains the box art. He may also need to scale the box art to fit better where the snaps are displayed within whatever theme he is using and/or adjust the image frame within the theme to crop the image to his liking, or use an existing theme as a model to create his own.
  24. You can select the path to whatever folder you want GameEx to draw those images from. As for the ratio or size, that is not necessarily theme driven. You may have to modify the display frame within Theme Editor to accomodate the image sizes or scale the images to fit the frame.
