NEW FEATURE REQUEST - Have GameEx look for and use a default foreground/background image within the theme's Media path and use in absence of specific system foreground/background images. At present, we have to create separate foreground/background images for each system emulated. For simpler themes, this can add significant bloat to the size of the theme when a default could be used instead. This could possibly be put in as a user selectable option in Setup Wizard in either Display Properties as a global option, within Emulator Setup for each individual emulator, and/or be added in Theme Editor under Options which would override the Setup Wizard (Gameex.ini) settings which would give the theme author control of intended display.

Not a bad idea. I like to have to create as few screens images as possible and let the logo files do some of the identification of the system being used. Of course, I use custom menus which helps a lot in that regard.

Rec Room Masters is the manufacturer. The first one I would not use with a monitor on the top deck. If I use a dual monitor setup with that pedestal, I would have to wall mount the monitor below the HDTV.

Sweet rig, Djour! The T-molding looks sweet and the aluminum sheet really sets it off well. Have you considered doing the whole ped in the sheet? Here are a few pics of the pre-fab Xtension Arcade cabs I have been considering: First is the gaming pedestal: Second are two views of their newest addition that they consider a cocktail cab: I am leaning more towards the Cocktail cab design as I would like to have two monitors at play - an HDTV wall-mounted for game play and a monitor for ancillary displays (game controls & info, etc.). Either design will require some mods to house my HTPC, XBox and 360, game pads, etc. I also like that the monitor housing angle of display is adjustable and will lie flat when not in use.

Look under the Pinned Topics for Cabinets Running GameEx. I will eventually go with either a pre-fab or build my own pedestal to fit my X-Arcade Tankstick and contain my HTPC along with a few gaming consoles.

I like the simplicity. You have to be careful when you have "busy" backgrounds" to keep other elements as simple as possible to achieve a good balance. Looks like you have it about there. I created a similar theme (albeit a bit busier) based upon the game Sins of a Solar Empire. I found that the light text I was using looked better with a black transparency over the background. Are you using a light or dark text? Also, are you using an arcade pedestal for your gaming rig?

*shrug* Seems that more focus has been on adding ROMs for mechanical games as of late, but cannot answer for the devs. Current status can be found here.

Can you post your complete log following a crash? For some reason it does not look like a complete log.txt output/

You have Favorites enabled. Let's try this: Load Setup Wizard and go to the Attract/Screensaver section. For Only Favorites select Yes (your current setting is No) and under Also Other Emulators select No. Save these changes and let's see what happens. If this resolves the issue, then it may be that Attract Mode is hanging up on a ROM in your collection that is not working. If not, we shall try something else.

You can contact them here . Doesn't look like much has been done with the emu since 12/31/2010 so not sure if you will get far, but guess it is worth a try. You might try perusing their forum to see if this has been discussed and if any work has been done in that regard.

I am not certain that Attract Mode is what is causing your system to go into power saving mode. In Windows Control Panel, click on Power Options and go into your default plan settings. Next, look at your power settings for Sleep (Hivernate After) and Display (Turn off display after). You may want to change both to Never then click Apply and OK to save.

Seb - I would check the mame dev site as I believe they have a list of compatible games that will run through MAME.

Are you running an ipac or any similar devices for handling your control panel or other devices?

What you are showing would require a rewrite of part of the interface itself. With Photoshop/GIMP and Theme Editor you can create the general appearance, but that is where it ends at present. I would have concerns about paying for a premium theme.

Same issue exists, can only attach it compressed or copy & paste as text.

In the end, the prog should be "So easy a caveman can do it..." While we are generally "Newb Friendly," I think that the the bulk of the progs available tend to not be and the assumptions are that, if you want to enjoy system emulation, then you must do lots of hard work and learn how to X, Y, and Z. The reality that bites us in the ass and turns away new blood is that we have a generation coming into the ranks that have never touched a command line and experiences are GUI-centric. I don't mind command line options as an "advanced option" for experienced users that want to make additional tweaks to the process. To have the basic options to select which media to move or delete after setting up the paths and the categories and generating a list would be great. Basic options should follow KISS (and not the band). Advanced options would have command line options available.

Agreed. The only thing I can see using the gameex.ini file for at all is, for the purpose of a plugin, is to provide the ROM and media paths data. Other than that, the data contained in catver.ini can help to create a list based upon the categories and the rom names, which in turn can be used to manage (remove or delete) the selected content. BTW, is that a pink elephant?
