  1. How do those things even connect to the motherboard? Do they just go into a PCIe slot or do they require a special slot?
  2. I'd just like to see the games. I could care less what the console looks like.
  3. Wow MAM you're SOOOO close! Updated OP, DB, RSS
  4. At least you're trying, and posting scores. And as long you're having fun, that's the important part! You're getting very close to KRC too... keep at it! Updated OP, DB, RSS
  5. Ha! I didn't even notice that. I remembered you saying something about an Easter Egg and was looking for something like that, but didn't see anything.
  6. Ok, seriously.. don't read this thread unless you have seen the movie. No seriously, you'll regret it! Ok, don't say I didn't warn you! So... discuss!
  7. Damn dude how fat do you think I am? I'm right around 200lb!
  8. Speaking of T-Shirts.. I bought a really cool shirt that had Darth Maul on it specifically to wear when I went to go see Episode 1. I remember coming out of there and hearing a guy standing in line say "That's the new bad guy!". Pretty sweet. I really want to get a T-Shirt for Episode 7, but haven't had the money. Then I found out at work yesterday that they had a 1-day sale there where they sold (almost) all their Star Wars shirts for $10 a piece. And with your Employee Discount and digital coupon from the app, you basically got it for like $3. I was so pissed because I didn't work that day. ARGH! They had all kinds of styles and sizes too. Now all that's left is the crappy ones, and they won't fit me.
  9. I don't really watch Southpark, but I got the Christmas Album for Christmas one year... this track I listen to at least once a year. and even funnier.. a German version.. after all the Holocaust stuff with the Jews, etc...
  10. Yes, even though the movie is out, PLEASE (oh God please) keep this a spoiler free zone! I was thinking about trying to go see it tonight, but Dad talked me out of it. He said it was on the news that there were actual FIGHTS outside the theater from people pushing trying to get tickets, and then inside the actual theater (not just the concession area) there were people fighting to get seats, and some people were stretchered out. He said I should wait until the hype dies down a bit. I don't want to wait too long though. I mean come on, my name is HANSOLO77. Why am I still not one of the many who have seen it?! The longer you wait, the more likely a spoiler will happen and I'll be pissed. I'm already mad at myself because tonight I saw the track list of the soundtrack and the first track had a spoiler in it. So I already know how it starts. All I did was glance at it in passing while finding it on Amazon to buy. So yeah, I'm definitely going to try and catch it SOON. My step mom has to work tomorrow and Sunday, so the weekend is probably a no go. I was going to try and maybe do a Saturday matinee, but if she has the car, that's out. Maybe I can mention it to Dad and he'll keep the car so I can maybe do it on Sunday (theaters are open on Sundays aren't they?)
  11. I haven't really had much experience with it, but I don't see why this couldn't happen. I use RetroArch on the R.Pi2 I bought and installed Kodi on. I've been playing around with it, and use an addon called IARL (Internet Archive Rom Launcher). It basically acts like an On Demand ROM player like Sega Channel used to be for the Genesis in the 90's. Lets you browse the official online (and free) repository provided by the Government of system ROMs, then downloads the one you want to play, then launches RetroArch via command line and plays it. Then when you exit back to Kodi, it erases the ROM and saves you space on your SD card. So by that fact alone, that the addon is capable of forwarding command-lines into RetroArch, interfacing it with GameEx should be a no brainer. Now, if you need support or something like that, I'm not the guy to ask. I know absolutely NOTHING about coding and/or Linux. What I've been able to accomplish is by trial and error of examining text and xml files to figure out what the scripts are doing, and make changes to see if it does what I want, etc. In order to make this all work, you'd have to be diligent and determined enough to go through the same trial and error processes. I really don't know anything about it, other than that RetroArch is sort of like a Linux version of MESS. It has a frontend, and various emulators (called cores) that it runs. You can pass a command line telling RetroArch to run, load a specific core, then a specific ROM (just like MESS). The appealing part of this to me was that I could have emulators on a R.Pi2 and still be able to have a media center experience through Kodi. There are other things you can do for emulating.. Kodi's newest build (Jarvis) will have internal support for playing ROMs through their RetroPlayer program they're actively developing. Other than that, there are various standalone emulators, and then RetroArch. RetroArch to me was the easiest as far as a noob is concerned. Then for interfacing, there was really only a Kodi addon called "Rom Collection Browser". Then along came IARL. GameEx would be the ultimate goal, but I don't know how it would work WITH Kodi. If your goal is to just have a system that runs GameEx standalone, then hell yeah go for it! I believe you would need a specially compiled version of GameEx though to work with your OS/CPU. If you are planning on attempting this, and it IS with a R.Pi2, and it IS with Kodi along side.. please tell me how you get on with it, because I would love to do that as well. One of my goals is to move all my emulating stuff off my primary computer (since it's prone to failure) and onto my server (with it's backup drive redundancy) and browse ROMs, etc from there while playing them locally on whatever device I setup.
  12. I hate everybody who saw it already. I was going to go see it last night, then all of a sudden my step mom starts whining at Dad "My chest hurts". So they leave to go to the ER at like 7:00pm. The movies are starting at 9:00pm. Dad comes home around 10:30 last night and is like "Well, they just NOW took her back to the exam room, but the doctor had 10 patients ahead of her." So he came home to get something to eat. Meanwhile, I'm sitting here like "well I WAS planning on going out tonight to see the movie" and he's all "well she's kinda more important, and you can watch it whenever". They were all afraid she had a heart attack or something. Turns out she was fine. By the time the doctor came to check her out, she wasn't in pain anymore. They figured she just had really bad heart burn. GOD I CAN'T STAND IT. Anybody need a roommate? No? How about a car you're not using I can buy?
  13. I don't have my tickets yet, hoping to get in on a matinee Saturday. My friends at work are planning on us all getting together to see it in IMAX. One of them asked in a Facebook reply: "So have we decided when and where yet?". And somebody else wrote: "Probably sometime after Christmas". Then I wrote, "Hell no, I'll see it way before that. "
  14. What?! The game was awesome!
  15. HAH! I got it up to 15 SPS, but didn't get a screen grab it. So here's my 14 SPS.
  16. Yeah, but she's the kind of person who'd rather have kids be strapped to a school desk reading than using their imaginations and playing make believe from some movie. She's very cynical that way. Before dad started dating her, she actually went 10 years or more without even watching TV. It's all about the books. Dad's been slowly breaking her of that, but she'll still be sitting on the couch reading a book when he's watching some show he hates because she wanted to watch it (specifically, that new Wiz that was on the other night). Or she's reading in the car going to the grocery store that's less than 5 minutes away. They stopped in my store while I was working one time, and dad was shopping while she was reading. WTF.
  17. Yeah.. I'm actually getting a little pissed at all the new tv spots. They're definitely over-saturating the market. Every single commercial break there's some Star Wars bit in it, be it an official spot, or something that ends up being a car commercial or something. I'm actually getting to the point where I'm tired of seeing it. This might be coming from my ignorant bitchy step-mom when there were 2 back-to-back Star Wars bits and she was like "Again?! I'm getting so fucking sick of seeing Star Wars". But I can see where she's coming from. On the other hand, she said if she ever met George Lucas, she would ring his neck for inventing light sabers because kids play with her store's rolls of gift wrapping paper like they were light sabers. I mean come on, they're kids. Grow up lady.
  18. Thanks for the tip. This wasn't my problem though. It was a keyed fan plug, and could only go in one way. It's possible the corruption happened when I was messing with the fans, but who knows. I was able to fix this a few days ago and just forgot to update here. I did some more googling since the tech guy was obviously not at work on the weekend. I found a possible solution where somebody had a similar issue with another brand's motherboard, and took their suggestion of the fix that worked for them. I had to completely remove everything that was connected to the motherboard (power supply, battery, cpu, ram, expansion cards, fans, etc). Basically put it to state as if I just installed it into the case and didn't have anything connected yet. Waited about an hour, then reconnected just the essential bits (1 stick of ram, cpu, power switch, power supply). It booted up with the BMC/IPMI working. So I reconnected the rest, and it's been working ever since. I don't know how long it will last. I'm concerned this might be a sign of a more serious problem since the tech agent helping me sent a CC to the primary support guy and suggested sending me a replacement BMC chipset. The fact alone that they have backups of chips is enough to make me worry. In any case, it's working now.
  19. I saw something about that the other day too. I don't think it's a spoiler. I mean, there's a trailer (Japan one I think) where it shows her being confronted with a saber in her face, so it's inevitable I think.
  20. Helpful to keep track of everything. Also.. I think I'm in love with Daisy Ridley. She reminds me a lot of Keira Knightley, although she's married now. Daisy's not yet!
  21. Anybody around here use BMC/IPMI? I had it working until earlier this week when I installed a new system fan. Now it doesn't work at all. In fact, the component doesn't even seem be detected in the BIOS. It fails it's boot up check tests, and doesn't display any available IP/MAC addresses. What's worse is it now looks like the sensors for the rest of the motherboard (voltages, fan speed, temps, etc) don't work now either. So this may be an early sign of a more serious problem. I've tried contacting the manufacturer's tech support, and got an automated response that the guy is out of the office for a week. Strange that a worldwide company would have a single individual running the entire customer service/tech support department. Anyway, he left a follow up email for another colleague, who obviously has a lot of other people having issues too, and clearly struggles with translations as English isn't his primary language. He gave me a tool to try and reset the BMC to a default state, but it failed. I'm not sure what else to try. Given the time delay between countries, I don't think he'll have a solution for me soon, so I thought I'd ask here and see if maybe somebody might have had dealing with this in the past. Initially when it worked, I simply open my web browser to an internal IP address the IPMI is running on. It then prompts you to log in, and gives you basic low-level BIOS information, and allows you to essentially remote-desktop into the system using JAVA. Since I installed a new system fan, I wanted to watch the sensor readings to see if it was working sufficiently with cooling. Since then, I wasn't able to even bring up the URL, much less the login prompt. On the BIOS end of things, the BMC was configured to automatically obtain the IP/etc via DHCP, but it had failed. I tried manually specifying an address, but it also fails. It basically looks like the BMC portion of the BIOS was corrupted some how. The tool the tech agent gave me appears to be a generic password resetting tool that puts it back to the default. When it failed, it looks like it was trying to identify the BMC version before even running it's reset protocols. So yeah, it's definitely hosed. I thought about maybe re-flashing the BIOS, but I'm already running the latest version. The rest of the system is stable as a brick. I don't really want to risk breaking something else by doing that. I'm going to wait and see what the tech agent says to do next. But I was just curious what other's experiences might be.
  22. Nice find Draco. What the world is waiting for is a true 3.5 SSD drive. Take your current 2.5 SSD and stack a few together. I saw rumors (don't remember where) that a 20tb SSD is moments away from being reality once the architecture is figured out on how to layer mutiple SSD's.
  23. Please join me in congratulating our latest GOTM winner! millerbrad - 223,520 (link) With his latest entry, millerbrad snuck (or sneaked, whichever you prefer) passed GimmeClassics and took the lead. Nobody tried to best him, so his score stands as the best! The Holidays are upon us, and that means we won't have an official GOTM for December. Instead, we would like to invite you to participate in our 2015 Christmas Competition taking place over in "The Arena". In the mean time, the HS Mods will get a new poll established for the game we will all play in January. Stay tuned! As we always say with each new GOTM... please don't stop submitting new scores! Just because the monthly contest is over, that doesn't mean we can't try to beat the winner. You won't be able win the prestige of having your name at the top of the OP for all eternity, but you will still be able to earn points towards your placement on the Overall Leaderboard, and your name could be at the top of the high score table!
