settings [RESOLVED] Future Pinball AIO Settings Help
scutters replied to [email protected]'s topic in General
What bit are you stuck on? The thing that has tripped people up before is the launch before executable selection.. when you click on the 3 dots to select it you need to change the drop down in the dialogue from 'executable files (*.exe)' to 'batch files (*.bat)' .. and you need to set the working path first (to the folder containing the bat files) -

PinballX might not log when screen grabs are taken, but on exiting the table after a screen capture you should have 'Rescanning for new artwork' in the log (yours don't?) Not sure if PinballX will overwrite existing media if new screen shots are taken, so try deleting the playfield image before taking the screen shot and post a new log file copy after.

Is the screenshot image black in an image editor, or is it just displayed black in PinballX?

? never heard of vbbxsetup. Not sure what link you followed, or where that error occurred. PinballX install is here - https://forums.gameex.com/forums/files/file/527-pinballx/, which as far as i'm aware is an offline installer. -
I think i see a smoking gun in the ini file. You have UseB2S=True set, so PinballX is trying to use the actual B2S file rather than backglass media files. In Settings.exe check the value under Display Settings->Use Direct B2S in Front End.. set it to No.
-
Can you attach one of the videos? (and the pinballx log and ini files)
-
Sounds like a LAV setting. Try these settings; https://forums.gameex.com/forums/topic/20816-pinballx-267-black-screen-resolved/?do=findComment&comment=178455 If that's not it please attach your pinballx.ini and log.txt files.
-
Nice. Not much interest to me, but like Mike said i think it would be to a lot of others.
-
Sorry, can you provide more info Are you using FFMPEG (or other video editor) to overlay the images onto the actual backglass video - or are you trying to overlay the PinballX topper screen on top of the backglass screen?
-
Best to attach your pinballx.ini & log.txt, but at a guess you either have 'auto position directb2s' set to yes (under display settings) and that is somehow messing up the screenres.txt file used by directb2s server, or you have something set to run in a windows compatibility mode. Good move getting SSF btw - it makes a huge difference!

For original VPX tables you can normally find some audio files in the table itself (under Table->Sound Manager in the VP editor), or where a pup pack is used in the pup pack (normally called background / attract music folders or similar). Hope that helps.

What tables (& on what system, VP, FP etc). Did you check the FTP site?

Here are a few animated Backglasses for PinballFX

I don't use FX, but good job... and included all the resources too! 👍 -
There is one other option if you happy not seeing the QR code in game... you could use the code as a loading image by table (you'd need to use the loading image plugin). Not sure if that'd be less work than doing wheel images, but you would have more space to work with (all of the playfield) so you could have some text as well. People would only have the 10 or 20 seconds loading time to scan though.
-
Good thought, but in PinballX its native Overlays & Underlays are by system name. Could maybe be changed / renamed on the fly by a plugin, but not sure if PinballX would pick up a change in the system overlay when the selected table changes. Edit - just tried manually changing overlays with pinballx running, and no, pinballx doesn't pick up the change in overlay when the new table selection is in the same system as the last one.

It might be tricky to get it looking good on a 2 screen setup.. and i assume ideally you'd want the QR code visible in game as well so you can see what score to input? Using the topper and overlaying it on top of playfield or backglass might end up being hit and miss as to which screen ends up on top (not tried it so i'm guessing, if it's consistent then that's probably the way to go, on top of the backglass). Resizing the backglass in settings and setting the topper to use the unused space on the same screen might look weird too as both would be rectangular areas so you'd probably end up with some unfilled black regions. If you wanted to then do the same 'in game' you'd have to update the visual pinball backglass area too (can be done, just more hassle) and select to keep the Topper showing ingame in PinballX. Probably the best result would be to add the QR image to the Visual Pinball playfield image over the instruction or price info areas. Editing all the tables exporting and reimporting images, and redoing all your playfield media for PinballX though?.. lots of work / time.

Not sure how many screens you have or your config but it could be displayed as part of a DMD image (best if you have a virtual DMD that's not 4:1 display ratio), or as a Topper image. But the easiest way would be if you have a 5inch or similar 'apron' screen (doesn't have to be located on the apron, it could be located anywhere), in PinballX the designated apron screen will display whatever image you have in instruction media for a table all the time. If you use the instructions menu in PinballX regularly and don't rely on the instructions on the table itself that might not be an option though. (some links in my post here https://forums.gameex.com/forums/topic/25368-pincab-scutters-pincab/ for the apron screen type i use) See Mikes link for the VB plugin template, or @jejegameex's version if C# is your thing - https://forums.gameex.com/forums/files/file/2541-pinballx-plugin-snap-in-template-c-net-framework-20/ You might find some useful stuff in VB the plugins i've done, see https://ftpbrowse.gameex.com/-PinballX-/Other Uploads/scutters/Plugins/ If you do go that way and get stuck then post back!.

Nothing in the PinballX log (it just dies). Think the issue might be more windows / runtime related. See this page - https://www.virtuallyboring.com/microsoft-wmi-invalid-class-error-0x80041010/ Can you look at the bit under 'confirm wmi is broken' by running wmimgmt.msc and see if the error (failed to initialise) is there?
-
The font i use is meant to be a TTF. Removing it so PinballX defaults back to Tahoma and the effect is less noticeable, but still there with that font. Text scaling and screen scaling are both at 100%. Strange issue..

Same @ 60hz (just changing the screen playfield refresh rate to test was enough to confuse windows enough to change all my screen positions and start duplicating the displays . Thanks for that Mike!!!!!)
