Bugger OFF!

Just a small update to a few more of the emu screens, mainly to show I am still working at it... Hope they are ok? Really pleased with the CD32 one. The magnavox is the best I could come up with - not a machine that has tons of artwork or iconic games Some of the pictures are just Photoshop saves as I have not got these set up as emu's in GameEx.

Is there an ultra 64 emu? I have always used mame, right back to when it only did a few pacman games and galaxians had no stars. Nice image though.

The GameEx Database Project

TOM: While messing about doing the databases, I noticed the colecovision roms had 2 versions of both Burgertime and Bump'n'Jump by Mattel and Coleco/Data East. Knowing the the matching will use the full file name if entered in the DB, I made 2 seperate entries for each with the modified Publisher, Date, and Description. In GameEx when using this, the Data and Publisher are matched to each rom correctly in the main rom list that you navigate to select a game to play. Great! But (you knew there was one), when entering the info screen with the description and the option to play the game - the data shown reverts to only showing the first match in the list (see picture). Somewhere the matching used for navigating the list (correctly displayed) is not used when displaying the games infomation (incorrectly). Bump'n'Jump will always show the details for the Coleco version as it appears first in the DB, and Burgertime will always show the Mattel details for the same reason... Here is an updated Colecovision XML with the ammendments. EDIT: Console__Coleco_Vision_v1.042__Flash_.zip -
Yes, something has changed in the last couple of mess releases. My Vectrex show whatever the last overlay used was regardless of game. Not sure what has happened and I will look into it at some point, perhaps later today... (I couldn't be bothered earlier - too much else to do )

I really think that is for the best. . . . PS. Sort out your bloody avitar picture, or did you make it really small so that you could fit a picture of Asteroids in there as well? -
It creates individual .vbs scripts for each game you have zipped and ecm'ed. GameEx is then set to run the vbs script which in turn upacks the rar/zip and then un ecm's the file. The .vbs script then launches the file with the emulator. This means that GameEx only needs to execute a path/file command to run the script rather than running the emulator directly. I have not tried it but it does seem like a good idea for those who have a use for it. It will take quite a while to complete though. One thing that may be nice is to edit the vbs scripts created manuallly and change the command line switches to suit each game. Ie. cd audio settings. This is great if you are short of HD space, but 1tb hds are cheap now and for speed of execution I keep my PSX games unzipped. (if you do zip your iso's, use 7zips ZIP setting and pick 'deflate' as a method and use a low-ish compression - this will increase decompression speed as 7zip files are VERY slow)

HK: Just and example of the triplicates.. Hope you can see what I mean about the way they should really match up automatically? -
Sounds like a good idea. Good luck with it!

Sadly - you are right. As if a wife and kids don't take up too much time, we also have to do the necessary evil or working! Still, I must get round to getting that camera out at some stage....

I'm afraid that there is no exact place to find it. When doing a system I always search fan made sites - these can have good images. Hi-res cover artwork can be found on several sites for a lot of consoles, though you need to do a bit of photoshopping. I was considering doing my own photos for some off the system icons. Went up in the loft to sort out the collection for some more additions.. Found (boxed) Amiga 1000, 2000, 4000, Camputers lynx, Channel F, Apple IIe, Atari 400, 800, Newbrain, Memotech mtx512, oh - and loads more. May be worth getting a nice white sheet and taking a few HQ pictures, doing a crop and posting... I will think about that and see what time I have before the kids go to bed (dont wanna wake them). Got ALL the consoles also, from Philips Videopack, Database, up to Dreamcast, Neo-geo etc. Got tons of disks and tapes covering the 70's and up that could really be good for some scans... Oh, if only I had time..... One thing I don't use (getting back to it) is Google. Lots of great images can be found on fan sites that are not found by google. They may be located outside of the site with names like default.jpg - google can't index them... So, in short - there is no quick and easy way to find them! sorry! PS. when the theme is released, you are welcome to nick what you like from it, or - if there is anything you want, just shout.
-
It could prove fatal..... Oh well... Let's try it anyway...
-
You would not notice the differnce from 800x600 to 1024x768. I am now off to bed, but I will post 2 pictures at the 2 resolutions for you to see tomorrow.

No? If my reactions were any lower - I would be comatose.... The higher my reactions the better? the higher my wage packet... etc..

You tell him Chriss.. Let's snap his walking stick and teach him a lesson...

They don't apear to at the moment. Tom did mention that the idea of doing that was being considered when we first started doing this. the only problem is that with some vids there may be a possibility of the wrong video being selected. Some DAT (Tosec being the worst) names are miss-named to the extent that this could cause confusion. It may be worth mentioning it again as a feature request. It would be great for things like the Future pinball db where it contains the fpt names as well as the zipped names (ie. dmb_2001.ftp - that will never find the video unless named the same)

Ah, so sweet... and you used a word I am suprised you can even remember the definition of.. at your age at least... PS. Did you ever read the "interests" section on my profile?

I had been waiting all day for your reply....... You did not disapoint :)

I love their typo in the advert/description:- "The NIA allows users to control PC Games without using the keyboard and with minimal use of a mouse and reduces reaction times by up to 60%" Just how bad does it make you react (I think they meant 'increases', unless they are being overly honest)

I was reading to see if you made any more mistakes (it's "You're not interested...... <snigger> - Sorry ) BTW: I use the wireless one for the pc and will say that it is a great pad for emu's

BK: Thanks for doing that for me, really helps also to know how things look on a CRT to. So, I know what to do now. 2 different theme resolutions. One for widescreen (1280x1024 will result in a LITTLE squishing - but should not really show) and one for 4:3 at 1024x768 and that will support all other resolutions via scaling. I don't think the fonts will be an issue. The fonts for the main list etc will be sized in accordance for the 1024x768 version, slightly larger than the widescreen ones. Beaps: The theme will be completed first at the widescreen resolutions. This will not support 640x480, but when that is done it should/will be a simple task to recreate it in a 1024x768 sized theme that will scale down to 640x480 for cabinet use. That is my hope anyway. When I do the 4:3 one (if BK does not mind) I will ask if BK can check it at 640x480 and then that will also be released. It should not be too long, gonna give it a break this weekend and carry on monday. Thanks for your interest. I will post here how things are going. EDIT: Going for a 800x600 that will scale up to 1024x768 and down to 640x480 - this will make sure all fonts still look good!

Silly Tempest! This topic is for 42+ games in an emu list, not for oldies.. I do realise that when you get into your twilight years it is very easy to get confused, and even finding you way home can be problematic! What you need to do is start a new topic for the subject of age. Do you understand? Please stop slurping your liquidized vegetables when I am talking. I know you don't take kindly to us whipper-snappers telling you how to do things, but you must realise we are more technically advanced than you. You did not have Computers in school back in your days and sadly, the abacus is of no help here.. Anyway - must not keep you talking as it is time for your nap and after that you have got a BIG job on and you really need your rest. That windowbox needs weeding....
