You can actually resize backgrounds in the Theme Editor. What you do is select the background, then press the little lock icon to unlock the object, then either type the new width and height into the boxes or drag it to the new size using the handles on the corners of the image.

GameEx uses cmd (Command Line) to launch emulators but you can run cmd from Start. The problem with the command line arguments looks to me like the G: just after cmd /c. I don't know what it's doing there. Try Start > Run> cmd /c G:\GAMING\Mame32\Mame32.exe bzone -rompath G:\GAMING\Mame32\roms -volume -32 Does that work?
-
Is Mame running okay outside of GameEx? Try it by selecting Start->Run and enter the following: cmd.exe /c G: G:\GAMING\Mame32\Mame32.exe bzone -rompath G:\GAMING\Mame32\roms -volume -32 Does the game run okay?

It depends on what you mean by "hack a dll". ehres.dll is a dll that contains all the resource files (graphics/icons/sounds) for MCE. There is software that allows you to rip the resources out of dll's. So to make a genuine looking Vista theme it would be much easier to do it this way than to do a whole bunch of screen captures.
-
I was actually going to knock up a Vista MCE theme for GameEx, but I don't have Vista to get the graphics. I need to get a hold of the ehres.dll file that contains all the MCE resources. If you can help me locate the file I can make the theme.
-
Probably is an overkill to setup one game from MCE. You have two options. Launching Games from MCE Or a plugin called My Games

GameEx doesn't use zero resources when an emulator is running, but close to it. I remember Tom saying it only polls for some input in the background. The only problem he thought that could cause a slow down was when using an Advanced Config because he polls that quite often. In Mame this shouldn't be the case. So I'm not sure what's going on, perhaps there are some memory leaks or page faulting going on in newer releases? Even though .NET does memory management, you should still clean up best you can. But I guess it's something Tom will have to take a look at.

Hi lingpanda, nice work there! I think this would go well with the New User Guide.

By artwork on do you mean bezel artwork? Alot of people are reporting lag with this. Have you tried turning it off to see if things change?

User Submitted Themes & Media (Uploads)
headkaze replied to Tom Speirs's topic in GameEx Media Projects
Just some replacement Suspend, Shutdown, LogOff and Exit logo's. ExitLogos.zip -
I'm afraid Nologic is right on this, and I was hoping you guys would sort yourselves out. Talking about pirating Dreamcast ROMs or NES ROMs is against the forum rules. Dosn't mater if the console in question is dead. Keep it clean guys
-
Good point jas.. I always thought the swap file was a set size too.. but there obviously seems to be a problem with pagefile with some users.
-
LOL Your using the old version then! I told you to download the files again from the first post! Oh well, it's working
-
On an XP machine it's called pagefile.sys located on the root of your boot drive. I think deleting the page file will result in a new one being created, but I'm not sure if you are supposed to do that. And I'm pretty certain the file is locked. You may need to go into Safe Mode (F8 just before the Windows logo on boot up) to delete it. But I would check that out before I do it. Also, a simple defrag may actually help the situation.
-
Overburn just means to use more of the space on the disc to store data than the format or disc is designed for. Most burning applications support overburn.
-
That's good to know. I would never have thought to do that. In fact never heard of a pagefile causing stuttering!
-
I don't have any old versions floating around here sorry. BTW When you run a game inside GameEx, if you CTRL-ALT-DEL what CPU usage is GameEx using? Also, can you download Process Explorer and right click on the GameEx.exe process and select Set Affinity... Try a few things there. I remember someone saying something about that solving performance issues.
-
I'm using "Pete's D3D Driver 1.76" and you need to set it to go fullscreen. In ePSXe, click Config->Video->Pete's D3D Driver 1.76 and make sure fullscreen is ticked.
-
Sorry to hear about your plight. I do remember a thread with someone else having a similar problem. Unfortunately they never got back to Tom who was trying to test some things with him. GameEx doesn't do much in the background while launching a game except poll for key presses and possibly joy button combinations when using an Advanced Config. Tom suggested to this guy to try replacing the HideOS.exe with the one attached here. There is also an old GameEx.exe in there, but I think it's around version 5.30. Maybe just try the HideOS.exe from there first. Please get back, as it's these sort of bugs that I know Tom likes to fix.
-
No, I checked my working config and ShowDesktop=False. I think slipstream is right in this case that there is some setting in the emulator you need to set to fullscreen. You might want to set ROMFilter=*.iso;*.nrg;*.img;*.bin
-
Just out of curiosity, what Theme are you using? Does it have a startup sound? And do you launch the game before the startup sound has finished playing?
-
Yep, under Enable/Disable Features, you need to make sure "Show Game Information" is Yes and "Show/Enable Favorites" is Yes.
