THIS! THAT! What he was asking about! Will CPviewer do it as well?

    CPviewer

Well, I can't answer this directly, because I don't use cpviewer, and the topic clearly says "a question for HK", but: If you use the CPWizard, you can do this.
  4. Take the red pill, and i show you how deep the rabbit hole goes... Trust me, it's endless..... I'm a carpenter, so I have a tendency to build my own, but in reality there's not a good reason to when you can buy an empty cab for $50 (I've actually seen them for free) and if you can get one with a working monitor cheap enough, why not? Keep an eye on Craigslist in your area...There are member's here doing the Jamma thing, so you can get help if you need it. Should you decide to build your own, check out this thread: http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?sh...c=3210&st=0 I posted this in another thread: Back to you.... I don't know about pre-built cabinets, buy Andy at www.ultimarc.com sells controls and other arcade related stuff on your side of the ocean. I've had good luck and service with him. Also as Brian said Groovy game gear. I would say that if you can buy a cabinet with an arcade monitor in it cheap enough, then fine, but they do have their limitations. Some people swear that it's the only way to go for the "true arcade experience". I'm quite happy with my computer monitor (it's a 21" CRT, and I paid $49 for it off lease. Nobody wants CRT monitors anymore...or again, if you can find a TV cheap enough, that'll work too. I think Headkaze, and Bkenobi both use a button layout like this, and I intend to use it as well: (EDIT: sorry about the bad picture) The logic is that the six buttons on the right are for fighting games, while if you use only the four buttons on the bottom, it resembles a Neo-Geo layout. The joystick would be on the far left. regarding joysticks, I started this thread yesterday: http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?sh...pic=5561&hl= I don't know if you've heard of them or not, but Ultimarc has the Ultimate 360 joystick, which is programmable, and can be 2-way verticle, 2-way horizontal, 4-way, 4-way diagonal (Q*bert), 8-way, and analog. You can also customize any map. Oqqalz has written a plugin that will download the correct map for any mame game automatically in Gameex. Also worth checking out is Headkaze's LCD/LED plugin. you can read about it here: http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?sh...amp;gopid=29820 You may also be interested in Headkaze's CPWizard: http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=4655 which allows you to create a picture of your control panel, and then when you run a game, it will display the appropriate labels next to the controls that the game uses. Your Welcome! Feel free to ask questions, and like I said the rabbit hole can be deep! PS. Why so much contempt?

Looks good! Do you have a marquee to go with it? I'm curious what you are going to name your cab.
  6. Right, you tell CMP where your Mame.exe is, and where your roms are, and it builds whatever roms it can for the version of mame that you have.

Thanks for the replies! I will use the Mag-Stik 4/8 Plus joysticks then. My list looks something like this then: 1 - U360 (I already have it) 2 - Mag-Stik 4/8 Plus 1 - Oscar controls tempest spinner (already have it) Electric Ice buttons with RGB drive Electric Ice-T Deluxe RGB arcade trackball 1- Ipac-2 (I might need a 4...) 2- led-wiz (HK's LCD/LED plugin) I am planning on using the player start buttons with the people icons on them. I'm pretty sure I read that I can drill a hole in them, and get some illumination from them as well. I also might try use the "coin eject" button on the coin doors for credits (I bought a coin door for $15.) I can't decide if it's a good idea or not. It' along ways down to have to bend over to add credits! Maybe I should do both. I haven't decide on a monitor yet...I think I'm going to keep using my CRT computer monitor for now, and let the prices drop and upgrade next winter. I do need a monitor for the marquee though...probably get a tv or a computer monitor whichever is cheaper. I thing 22" LCD monitors are less than $250 now. Any comments?

Alright, I admit it, this is probably a stupid question. Do you guys use 4-way's, or 8-way's. As you know I'm trying to get my ducks together for a new cab. I think I'm pretty set on most everything except this. What is the difference? I'm thinking that mame only uses 4-ways, because it only asks for up, down, left, right. I know I can make diagonal moves in games like Loderunner, I'm assuming it just goes up and left. Do 8-ways actually have 8 switches? (They must, mustn't they?) Do some games (emulators) actually require a 8-way to work properly? I was thinking of using two u360'S, but my wife doesn't like the feel...Maybe I should put in the stiffer spring. Anybody come up with a question I didn't think to ask? Come on, I need rediculous amounts of feedback...Anyone?
  9. I'm setting myself up here....I like George Michael....to listen to I mean. But remember this every other kiss that you ever give long as we both live when you need the hand of another man one you really can surrender with I will wait for you like I always do there's something there that can't compare to any other.... Pathetic isn't it?
  10. Hey, I could have chipped in with another wrong answer, but I honestly don't do it on purpose...not even for you. Is that avatar really you? I just think it's odd that BK had to say something to you about beer, when you already had one in your hand. BTW: Bkenobi - at least I was right about that Andrea chick!
  11. oh no... not my problem, HIS problem! Although it does look like I'm the one trying to fix it!
  12. To refresh my memory, I moved my CPWizard.ini out of the CPWizard folder. I then started CPWizard, and it immediately went to the page where you setup your mame path. I set the path for my Mame.exe, and all of the other paths filled themselves in. Then a window popped up, and said "Please Wait". I waited maybe 30 seconds or so, and the default panel in the CPWizard pops up. If I select preview, the games are listed. Try doing the same thing, and see if the same thing happens for you. If you do not see the same thing, then the only thing I can think of is maybe you have a bad install of the CPWizard, and probably should re-download it, because there is really nothing to it...which is the confusing part. Please let me know...
  13. Damn! I thought I was on to something too!
  14. Well, I'm thinking that the only thing the CPWizard uses ghostscript for is to display Manuals. Are you trying to view a manual? Do you have the manuals? Are you showing an error in the CPWizard.log? BTW: I was going to say that once you've made a donation, that you no longer qualify for support, but some people may not think that's funny. Don't worry, we'll help!
  15. Hey you two...no joking around in the forums! Didn't you get the memo?
  16. You can do this with command line options in Gameex. No need for two different Gameex directories. Q: Are there any command line options for GameEx.exe A: Yes, you can specify a different configuration file to use by using config= eg. gameex.exe config="c:\program files\gameex\config\myconfig.ini" -quick has the same affect as setting gameex to not play the startup video, intro animation and intro sound. e.g. C:\program files\gameex\gameex.exe -quick -listupdate makes GameEx update the MAME game list then exit. e.g. gameex.exe -listupdate. -dvd launches GameEx as a stand alone DVD player, and starts playing an inserted disc.
  17. I don't know if your still interested or not... The CPWizard is a seperate program from Gameex. In facte you don't have to be running Gameex at all to use it. The CPWizard allows you to create a custom control panel to match yours, and then will display the appropriate Labels next to the controls. I could go on, let me just say that it is a nice program, that is worth checking out. If you need any help, feel free to ask. http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=4655 At the top of this thread is a link to CPWizard, I thought you may find the topic useful as well.
  18. I didn't even know who she was, so I googled her (image search)...I figured maybe she was hot or something... and she might be without that beard! Why didn't somebody warn me? TOM? We all know what google thinks of you... Maybe you had googled "Andrea Bocelli"? Crap! Now I'm on google's "list" too!
  19. Your a complete Knob! :LOL I'm just glad to see you've been busy...I thought for sure you had been banned! Unfortunately, I don't know anything about Graphics either...Sorry!
  20. I think he's talking about the Database (.MDB) files for other emulators.
  21. I'm a big fan of Headkaze's CPWizard...but you don't need a fast computer to run it, so maybe you're already using it?
  22. I've been using a program to delete bad dumps, hacks, etc. I don't even care to have them on my hard drive. I got the program from the Good Tools site. I can provide a link if you want to use it.
  23. So if I understand you correctly, he runs it through Dotfuscator (or something similar) to try and keep people from reverse engineering Gameex. Thanks for the reply, I really am curious about everything
  24. I googled "dosfucsation", it came back with no entries, and asked If I meant "dysfunction" Maybe I did, But I was thinking "dosfucation" might be a dirty word...
  25. So that's what Iano was up to... Using the back door eh? 50 games? Around here that's what I call "restraint"! If your ever in the neighborhood stop by, nobody here likes Tempest. I Rock! (you did see that part didn't you Brian?) Off to find another two year old thread to help with...my work is never done!
