Hi there! It looks like a long time since I was playing games with mame with this setup... But then my old gaming experience evolved and it became the Cocktail Arcade Classics! I found the cabinet (just the cabinet) on a classified ad, then build my Arcade Classics from scratch. Even made a new control panel for it. It had everything! The graphics, the sound, the controllers, even the coin slot was working! It's core is a PIV 3.0ghz, 4gb ram with ati x1300 video card. It features a 1tb hard drive with mame, nes, snes, n64, master system, genesis, psx, vpinball and futurepinball, all running, of course, through gameex. But it wasn't perfect. I grew up with upright cabinets. Cocktail cabinets were rather... rare. Only used for soccer games, and not many. But a couple days ago, I was lucky to find a great cabinet. Used cabinet. Half cabinet. Well, something I could fix at least ok, it was CHEAP It's a generic cabinet from a spanish company called Covielsa. The arcade cabinet name? Greengold! This is how it should look: This is where they had it: and finally at home! It was a huge effort to get it to the second floor where I live... as we have no lift. And it's heavy. and I mean HEAVY. It's way bigger than my cocktail isn't it? As I have no other computer, I'll get the computer inside the cocktail cabinet and place it on the new one

I can't but agree, emumovies provides great eyecandy to our themes :D

yeah, the bars must be there so people know what they have to beat. I prefer to have the bars up high and fight to beat them, rather than see the bars low, jump over them and get frustrated when the same person puts the bars up in the sky, and you know he was just letting you win before I used to reach those level's boss, the birds. but I just can't remember how to play those levels, so my lives goes down very fast one mistake and you're dead...

Well, yes, actually is excitement... I can't wait to see what are you preparing for us :D Excitement about the new Evolution, stress watching the seconds going away on the countdown :D
-
Is it me the only one who got his stress level going insane when the first countdown appeared? Everytime I come here I keep watching that countdown going... well, down... soooooo slowly... When I went back and noticed that Gameex online option at the top I rushed to check it. What was that? can I use it? how does it work? Is it a new feature? why I didn't noticed? checked my gameex version in case it was outdated, but it's the latest one. Opened every single option on the setup utility, but gameex online wasn't there either... PinballX users can play with it, but most gameex users must wait for Evolution... (sigh!) No news (or I can't find them) about system requirements, no preview videos, not even pictures... I still don't know if it'll work on my cabinet!!!! Yet there's that countdown ticking... raising my stress level... and time flows so slowly...

I tried anteater... but I have just no idea how that game work. and as I was getting frustrated with that game, and others are so old that are not appealing to me, I decided to just play the games I like for fun, and don't try to score at every game specially if I have no idea about how to play it Anyway, we're just starting this month's competition... soon somebody will beat me
-
834.180 !! Really, I could say "here you go, my first try today, now try to beat it" But first, I know you'll beat it. although I love this game, it's not "my best" game. Actually, I was surprised about how much I remembered from the time I used to play it in arcades... And last but not least, I couldn't believe my luck getting such a highscore and I think I'll never do it better than that
-
I used to play a game like this one on my first PC, but the name wasn't qix, but "xonix" or something like that. then the "draw and cut games" I played on arcades were gals' panic and others like that I'll give qix a try

I'm really glad you're enjoying this game it's one of my favourites, but you guys sure are better than me on this one (and on most of the games BTW but it's so great to see you enjoying them than I don't care watching my highscores being beaten down over and over again
-
It's really a nice game! It was after my second game that I discovered I could move up and down too... Then, once I tried to dodge some enemies, I was killed. I had better highscores when I only moved left-right at the bottom of the screen lol I'll keep trying though
-
Yeah, Death Adder killed me too he's though, but more due to his skeleton minions than himself
-
So heeeere I come I just don't know what's the differences on the characters, besides the magic slots... In spain most people played with the amazon as she has the biggest magic slots. Anyway, this time I chose the warrior Strenght: 132.5 (raw score 205.0)
-
just get a picture when you finish your game, and we'll check what's the highscore meter WOOHOOOOOO! bombjack was not one of "my" games, but prepare for a nice challenge this month ...I'm switching on my arcadeeeeeee...
-
so you suggest me to replace the rom? I just can't pinpoint what's causing the glitchy sound
-
as my arcade cabinet is running with an old pentium 4 @ 2.8ghz I'll stick with old fellow xp
-
Well, this was weird... this game runs choppy on my arcade! The game's a bit slow and the sound's choppy, like it echoes a bit... tried removing the scanlines effect, nothing. lowering sound output samplerate, nothing, even removed bezels... and nothing! :( I'll try changing from d3d to directdraw rendering, just in case... Anyway, here is my highscore... 45.110 Edited: no way. d3d, autoframeskip, noswitchres, 22050 audio, no bezels, nothing at all... and the sound keeps sounding glitchy

I never used to play puzzle games on arcades... we considered them "games for girls" LOL we were rude boys playing shinobi, final fight, dungeons&dragons, knights of the round... but puzzle games? no way! we were BOYS! That being said, here's my best score so far 229.690
-
Nice first score, Han! Do you mean the big guy that throws concrete bags at you? If you time it, you can keep him on the right side hitting the bags and throwing them back at him
-
LOL.... Hammertime everybody I really hope you'll enjoy this game, it can be really fun to play

Video 15. Ghosts'n Goblins. I *REALLY* stink on this game. But as it was a classic and I love the music... I had to record it. I love to see others playing this game, but I'm a noob here -

Video 13. Shinobi. The great game of the ninja People used to gather around this game everywhere, and everybody will recognise the music This is the first game I changed my recording style. Now I use a camcorder that records the arcade music, my voice and my face, while I use a screen capture program (bandicam) to get the video directly from the game. -

Video 12. Cabal. In spain this game created a genre of his own. The games like this were considered "cabal style". The original game used a trackball, but most versions use joysticks instead. -
