I've found an old thread about configs files missing, so I went to the config folder of gameex and renamed the backups of ini files of the latest update... it worked! ... but after restarting windows everything was broken again... so, considering how slow windows 10 runs on my arcade, and that you can revert it back to your old OS... windows 7 here I go again wish me luck

oh nice... now after updating the video card drivers windows looks ok, but running gameex the picture goes crazy, just as if gameex would be changing resolution. doublechecked and on the setup wizard gameex shouldn't change the resolution EDITED: accessed through teamviewer and it looks like all gameex configuration is gone, and it's changing resolution, my theme dissapeared... weeeeird EDITED 2: I can see my theme and everything, but it looks like I have it unregistered. doubleclicked to make sure the registration file is added to the windows registry, everything seems to be fine... yet I can only choose arcade84c as theme (even though I have many others installed), my custom text is missing, and it keeps loading on 800x600 or something like that EDITED 3: All emulator options and settings are lost too

So here I am with my weird problems... My system was ok running windows 7, but all of a sudden I find myself with windows 10 installed.... calm down, everything seems to run fine... but the sound. There was no sound at all. I solved it installing an old windows vista driver version for my on board sound card. Now, Gameex... takes some time to load, but works any way... until the screensaver kicks in. It happened twice (and I'm loading it again so I can copy the error details). After I click any button to exit the screensaver, the picture on the screen freezes, then an error window pops up. Unhandled exception. And a button asking to continue anyway. There's no other choice than continue, then I can see the gameex menu, but as if it were a sticker. Nothing works. Only way to exit it is by task manager and force close gameex. Dialog title: GameEx|Demo:|Punch-Out!! (Rev A)|60/60| (the rom name is the one used on the screensaver) Text: Unhandled exception in an application component. If you click on continue, the application will bypass this error and will try to continue. Error in the application. Options below: Details / Continue On the details mentions some directx thingies... I'll try to reinstall directx just in case...

Hi there! I decided to upgrade my arcade's video card. Replaced an old nvidia for an ATI card. According to DXDIAG everything's fine, but when I run gameex (that always worked fine before), I get this: DxDiag tells me everything's fine. Using latest video drivers from ATI. If I try to force reinstalling directx (by tricking it to think I have an outdated version), I get an error telling there's another application that is using something from directx and can't be installed. Any idea?

interface mode changed to normal (it was in simple, and it worked like that before). Tried again with keyboard using xpadder and using gamepads only to detect activity. Again, I can select options, but the back button won't work. Then tried mapping joystick buttons in gameex and just use the buttons. Player1 to select, middle button to back. (6 buttons per player, player 1, player 2 and a middle button on my control panel). None of them work. Despite ledblinky shows the right buttons highlighted, you can select pressing button 2 and going back with button 4.... although I chose no to use custom inputs... on what file are them located? I just want to be sure it's not loading something from them...? EDITED: enabling all custom controls on gameex setup wizard and getting and old custominputs.ini worked. still don't know why. I just copied a backup of that file to my cabinet and it's working fine now. Gameex mode to simple, old custominputs file and working like a charm with xpadder layout... finally... I was going mad. ...now let's play snowbros to relax...

Thanks Tom, I'll try tonight when I get home. It was working fine before :?

Thanks! It's driving me mad

Actually there are 3 profiles for 3 controllers, 2 for a dual xin mo controller for the arcade control panel, and a hacked gamepad for the coin slot. Now using a blank profile for both players, and choosing joystick as controller, I have mapped button 1 as select, button 2 as back... Yet the buttons working are 2 as select, 4 as back... On the second player's buttons. I'm puzzled... As everything was OK before this last update?
-
Weitd enough, I disabled the xpadder layout and used a blank one, then re enabled the joystick controls. Setting as button 1 select, button 2 back doesn't work on player 1 side, but as weird as it sounds, it's mapping player 2 (not player one) buttons 2 and 4. I have no idea why...

According to this issue , use all usb joysticks but just for activity. Do not use custom keyboard controls, key for back set (now) as D2 (number 2 on the keyboard) mapped to 2 player button on the arcade control panel. Even the key set was cleared, then entered using the control panel button with the layout loaded in xpadder, so the button works and the gameex setup wizard recognises it. Every other control works, but not back. Tried enabling or disabling direct input for the keyboard with no effect. My windows is in spanish, maybe something with the translation somewhere changing the way it calls for that button? If yours work but mine doesn't the only difference could be the system default language, although I have no idea why and I'm just guessing at random...

Before this last update, everything was running smooth. Now when gameex loads, the back button just won't work. Nothing has been changed, just the update. To improve compatibility with pluging controllers for different systems I have everything running with keys, then use xpadder to load profiles to control anything using the xpadder plugin. I have a profile with the same layout as mame for controlling gameex. in game pause F10 also works on gameex as "back". just in case it was some problem using the same key for pause and back, I changed it to use player 2 (2) key instead, didn't work, and tried different keys mapped to the same button. player 1 (1) works as select, joystick as arrow keys to move. Choose the right profile on xpadder plugin, run gameex... And everything works but the back button. it's just not recognised. Once I enter a menu I can't get back. To make sure I even loaded the xpadder profile and entered each key on gameex setup using the arcade buttons, and they are recognised and accepted perfectly. But when gameex is running, there's no back button. I even plugged a keyboard right now (I'm mapping it as X as it's a key not used by any other setup...) and even pressing X on the keyboard it won't go back ???? I just don't know what else to do :? oh, and gameex has the setting for usb controllers to just check them for activity. log.txt GameEx.ini

Oh well, I'll have to wait for echo to fit my project then I wanted to click and play on that list as a quick option to play but also keep the option to add games to favorites too, and that option is only possible on the game details, otherwise I couldn't find it... I'll check that theme for inspiration though

Hi there folks! Although my cabinet supports many emulators, and I bought gamepads to mimic those of nes, snes, n64 and psx... I find myself always going back to arcade games. They're possibly the games I play 95% of the time spent on my arcade, so I was thinking about creating or choosing a theme that would focus on that. Just arcade, just mame. So my idea was to focus on a big preview on one side, with the video preview and marquee of the game, and a list of the games on the other side. It would look better if the selected game would be fixed on the center of the visible list, rather than going down the screen and scroll when it reachs the bottom. I mean, the look I want to get is to look as if you were not moving the selected item, but the "wheel" with the list of games. Don't know if I'm explaining it clear enough? something like the hyperspin's wheel? now second thing... as I don't want to lose my other setups just in case I have the mood for nes games ;D would it be possible to show just the favourites on startup, and pressing back or any other combo go back to the main menu to select all mame games, or console games... and be able to add them to favourites (opening game details) BUT on the favourites menu on startup just click on the game name and launch the game without the game details popping out?

Hi there! I think I just like to make things difficult to make them more interesting lol... I might try to use full xpadder profiles for mame and just map mame default key según then relay everything on xpadder... I'll keep trying whatever comes to my mind just in case

Here I am again There's something weird on my setup and I still don't know what's it. Case 1: start the cabinet, only use mame. perfect. Case 2: start the cabinet, need to display the "wait screen so you can plug your external controller", set to close when pressing "y". mapped "y" on a button on the gameex console interface. problem 1- you don't connect the controllers, the button works (but as the controller was not connected, no profile was loaded then the keys/gamepad won't work on the emulator). problem 2- you connect the controllers. the button won't work. so you can pass that warning screen and you can't play. somehow it's not recognising the xpadder profile pressing "y". Workaround 1 - set xpadder autoprofiles to ON. set the EXE file of the warning to force load the same gameex interface profile so the key is accepted. it works. but then the gamepad won't get the profile when the emulator launches :?????? Bonus problem: the combo to close anything on gameex (' key. press player1 to toggle group 2, then player2 to press that key) used to work great. now it doesn't. Partial fix by setting gameex to close when pressing both buttons together. Bonus problem after the bonus problem: now when you're pressing buttons like mad on the psx controller you accidentaly can close the emulator pressing those buttons. (launched the emulator AFTER pluging an external keyboard and press the Y key. see problems before this one XD). So I need to set the key combo to close anything on gameex and not just the joystick buttons. I have the arcade joysticks set as default on the windows settings, and set on xpadder the priority as xin-mo controllers (arcade), then hacked gamepad (coin slot), then the external controller. On xpadder plugin I have the profiles set on that same order, gameex1 (with the combo keys to close), default2, cajetin (coin slot), psxcontroller (for the psx emulator). mame, gameex interface, gameex screensaver all have the same "gameex, default2, cajetin" profiles loaded. I just don't know what's happening. Also when I open mame if I have any external controller plugged in it somehow changes my joystick settings on windows (like player 1 was using joy 2 (arcade), if I have any other gamepad attached the same buttons belong to joy 3, so all my controls won't work :? now I'm puzzled...

Well, is working for me as I have it now lol but maybe others can find it useful... All the controller pictures were chosen after searching for "console name controller png" on google. I just cleaned and resized them, added a gradient background, the glowing button, text and audio file. Weird thing, I left the psx pad connected then nothing on mame seemed to work. It changes the joystick assigned number for my arcade so I had to unplug the other game controllers... Weird

Here I am again I tried to make it usable by anybody, but my actionscript skills are lost in the past now... I made a flash file where you can select color gradient (ega-like options, 16 colors), and choose which controller show using movie clips. My intention was to make the flash movie read variables on a txt file to choose color, controller, key to close and text for "warning" and the text below, but I was unable to make it load the txt file or parse external variables from command line , so I just added the options I needed inside for myself and created a different EXE for each system... so it's not working for everybody, and I use it in spanish ... it requires you to press Y to close it. mapped with xpadder on gameex interface didn't work, so I had to enable XPADDER autoprofiles for each of my exe files so it would load a profile with the needed button mapped to "Y". If anybody thinks he can use it, please let me know. I can translate the texts on screen to english, the background color... for my own setup, the games that can be used with arcade buttons BUT are better played with their own controls (like NES, SNES, SMS or Genesis) shows a green background. Games that require an external controller to be played (N64, Gamecube or Playstation) have red background.

finally, I think the easiest way is with a flash projector I just needed to add a fscomand on the first frame to make it go fullscreen... Although you can't see it in this screenshot ;D the button on the bottom right glows in and out. when the picture appears, the sound for the galaga bonus stage plays once. The button I need to press is one without any other use for gameex on the middle of the cabinet's control panel, mapped with xpadder to the key "y", which is the same key that closes the flash file with another fscommand... in spanish: "warning! this system is played BETTER with an external controller. connect it now and press the middle button to continue" on systems impossible to map with the arcade panel (N64 or GC) the text shows a different warning "warning! this system NEEDS an external controller to be played. connect it now and press the middle button to conitnue" I'll re-design those warnings, as I'm not too happy with them, but for "version 0.1" they're not too bad edited: quick poorly made video to show it
-
ok, so far... mixed results... The press-a-button is not a problem, I mapped a button not in use while on gameex interface so it presses "y", which is recognised by the flash EXE file to close itself. Bad thing: the EXE runs in a window, so it looks HORRIBLE. now trying to set it on my old macromedia 8 so it runs on full screen... other methods: Set text as instrucions on the emulator setup. nice, but it won't wait for a button to be pushed, so maybe you don't have enough time to plug the controller. Set the picture as a control.jpg file. Set the controls parth pointing directly to this jpg. when I launch a game, there's a quick black screen and the game runs without waiting at all darn darn darn... BTW, the xpadder beta works awesome
-
awesome, thanks! I'll try to set it up as soon as I have some spare time I can't wait
-
hmmm I have not set controls for emulators, just for arcade using own mame settings... to use the controls path should I just put a jpg file with the emulator name or what? ... I must check those options thanks! (should it load xpadder profiles AFTER showing that controls picture right? as I guess xpadder won't load a profile if the controller is not still attached)

Hi there! Here I am with my weird questions I'm plugging some external usb ports to my cabinet, and so I was thinking on enabling gamecube and nintendo 64 emulators... The controllers are really weird to map in a 6button-per-player cabinet, so I decided to just map buttons to gamepads. Would it be possible to show a warning screen (a flash file or something like that) BEFORE launching the emulator (with xpadder plugin) or a bat file to load xpadder pluging then the emulator? I though about a screen like "warning! this emulator requires at least 1 controller plugged in. plug your controller now then press [a button on the arcade panel] to continue", so the user can plug the controller, press the button on the arcade cabinet and start the emulator. I can make an exe flash file with that, I just need to know how to add it to gameex the way I want

That would be sweet now I'll update my emulador profiles to map default keys for those emuladores while I wait for the chinese gamepads to arrive... It should take them a month...
