  1. I don't have shifted buttons on my cab, but I just mapped P1 left and P1 Right to quit. Since it's impossible to actually press both buttons at once, that's good! I added another button to the CP and used a couple diodes to in the wiring. You could do the same, but might want to choose another shift button if you want more than one command shifted.
  2. Use these drivers: GunCon2PC I've tried different versions and found that the newest version doesn't work correctly, so I'm using 0.9b2 (as I recall). The newer ones remove some features that I need (calibration...)
  3. You know, I don't know if that would be a problem or not. The way the gun works as far as I know is that it sees the led's in the strips and determines where you are aiming based on distances to those locations. The calibration software requires that you point your gun at the corners of the image/screen, so I don't know if it would even care what position the leds are in. I suppose it's possible that you could even mount them diagonally if that's what you wanted. Not having dealt with a LED Topgun before, I am at a loss for good advice other than try asking the customer support directly. That is a really good question that probably even exists in their FAQ. If it doesn't, it definitely should.
  4. Add the rom name to the excluded filter list. It's possible it's considered imperfect or something. Either way, this will make it show up in your list. EDIT: I just confirmed that it is listed as imperfect. The above procedure will make it show up. MAWS listing
  5. Either of these should work: link I personally would go with the KeyWiz-ST since it has the nice screw down terminals, but if you are ok with soldering, the KeyWiz Eco 2 is exactly the same unit. I suspect you could even solder on your own terminals if you wanted, but doing the math would show that it's better to just buy the ST in the first place as far as cost goes.
  6. Good point. I forgot that HDCP doesn't disable the image, it simply reduces the resolution. Glad to hear someone with experience was able to help!
  7. Like I said, you will have to check the specific gun to see if it will work with projection sets. I know the ones the original NES used did not like projectors, but I think some of the more modern ones don't have a problem with it. Arcadecontrols.com has a TON of info on specific gun capabilities. I can't say what will or won't work with a certain tv with a certain gun since I only have my gun running on my cab. My guess would be that it should work, but that is purely a guess.
  8. What are you trying to do exactly? Are you trying to make the theme work like MA's, or are you simply trying to turn off things like DVD, karaoke, weather, etc? If you are trying to do the latter, then yes it is definitely possible. Try running the configuration wizard and using the search option to enter the items you want to disable. It should pop up a page or two that relate to your term. Then, simply turn off the feature. You could just go through all of the pages, but it might be easier to search. Good luck and welcome to the GameEx community!
  9. True, the screen really doesn't come in to play with the LCD TopGuns. In fact, you could have the screen turned off and play by memory if you wanted and it should work fine. It uses the position of the gun relative to the LED's in the LED bars to determine where you are aiming. This is actually much better than the standard type of gun since there is no chance that things going on with the screen will affect your accuracy (e.g., glass, tinted glass, angle of the screen, room lighting (reflections), etc.). The only downside I saw with them when I bought my stuff was that they were more expensive than I wanted to pay. In retrospect, I would buy these since they work with anything (even XBox and PS1/2/3)!
  10. I would think the usb keypad devices would work as long as they are detected as a standard keyboard (which they should). If you turn off numlock so the keys work as arrow buttons, you will have arrows and enter to select which os to boot to. That's by far the easiest way to do it without having a regular keyboard sitting there. The other option I would look at is getting a really small keyboard (perhaps wireless). Then you could hide it somewhere and just pull it out when needed. Long term, though, I would go with some kind of a setup like you mentioned with a couple keys accessible from the front. Come to think of it, you could probably use an IPAC for this. I think you can set up macro's and in the controller. If so, you could have 2 buttons on the front of the case. One would be for <Enter> and the other for <Down><Enter>. Well, those are the only things I can think of right now...
  11. Ok, cool. That's what I needed to know. I'll play with this today (hopefully). Thanks for the help!
  12. Sounds like a HDCP problem. HDMI has copy protection BS these days so if that's in your TV, but your video card doesn't output it, you will be SOL. The VGA port is not susceptible to the copy protection, so that should work fine if this is the problem.
  13. Perhaps I was unclear (which is not too surprising). What I meant was that in MAME, when I go to the video options menu, I don't see the new "Hide CP" or "Show CP" items. Do I have to have CPWizard running in order to see them? I'm looking at the screen shots on the CKWizard homepage and I see those two options pop up, so I figured that would be a nice way to display it (overlayed). Just curious...
  14. I don't have a clue, but in order for someone who does have a clue to help, you will have to provide your GameEx log file. It contains the error messages and provides a clue as to what might be going on.
  15. I don't know if a projection screen will work with a light gun. If they do, then you could go with PS2 GunCon2 compatible guns, but I would definitely check at arcadecontrols.com forums. There's a WEALTH of information about light guns including the dos and don'ts. I know for a fact that there is an option that would work, but I didn't go with it, so I can't advise you on if it's good or not. Check out the LCD Top Gun here. There supposed to be pretty cool...
  16. Yeah, that's definitely a problem. Perhaps you could ask for that kind of support on the xpadder forum or chat room. The author answers questions pretty quickly and any reasonable requests seem to be considered fairly quickly too!
  17. I have a 'hi' directory, but I don't know if I have hiscore.dat in the correct place. I'll have to check that.
  18. I thought I had it figured out, but when I load a rom, it doesn't give me the option to show the cp. Do I have to create a directory for it to work or something? I didn't see anything that created the directory like the hiscore stuff does. On the other hand, I can't seem to get the high scores stuff to work either, so it's probably just me
  19. NM
  20. If you used XPadder, you could have it set up so that each gamepad that's detected has its own setup. Then, just make the ones you want to act as identical use the same config. The only downside is that you will be using keyboard commands rather than gamepad controls in the emulator...but that's not really a problem since that's typically easier to configure.
  21. Ok, I tried again from scratch and it seems to have worked fine. Only question now is whether HK's CP Wizard diff will play nice or not. I'll give it a try and see!
  22. Just my 2 cents, but... I'm probably going to upgrade the MB and CPU on my cab in the near future, so I will likely set everything up again to make it clean. I am planning on setting everything up all emulators to use keyboard and then use xpadder to map buttons to those keys. It should allow me to switch between configs easier since most of the built in support isn't as easy to change as xpadder.
  23. Hmmm, I'll try it again. Btw, did you install HK's setup.exe version of the compiler or the slim one?
  24. Cool! I did a google search but couldn't find the diff file depot. So then I need to apply hiscore for 122, but that won't disable the disclaimer. I can't apply 119's hiscore to disable the disclaimer since that will screw things up. Is there a diff for just the disclaimer and crosshairs and such?
  25. GameEx doesn't handle the audio or video internally, it uses codecs that are already available. You should be able to configure the codec to allow for spdif passthrough if it's an option. GameEx shouldn't interfere once you get it set up the way you want it.
