  1. Those look pretty well done. I may actually opt to redo my setup in lew of the gl2 option. I think this time I'll back up my files and work in another directory (as opposed to what I did with my lightguns )
  2. When you are launching applications from the command line, you must use double quotes if there are any spaces in the path. Dos doesn't know how to handle spaces the way you would want it to, so you have to use the quotes to make sure the whole line stays together. In other words: c:\emu\emu 1\emu.exe => "c:\emu\emu" "1\emu.exe" That doesn't make any sense unless there is an application "emu" in the "c:\emu\" directory and dos knows how to process it. In any event, just use double quotes to surround any path with spaces and you should be ok! "c:\emu\emu 1\emu.exe"
  3. Just to update on my previous comments. I spent some time last night playing around with my guns and got them back up and working in Windows correctly (what a pain in the arse!). I tried WinGun, but decided to stick with GunCon2PC since that worked before just fine. I have MAME v0.119 accepting input from both guns and tracking correctly with both guns. The only problem I'm currently having is that both guns fire with either trigger pull. When you fire gun 1, gun 2 fires at screen center and vica versa. I'm not sure how to handle that one, but I'll take a look next chance I get. At least I have my guns back...mostly!
  4. I didn't post a link, and I thought it was ok to drop hints (that has been done in the past anyway). I deleted my post. Sorry Tom...
  5. If you set up Zinc so it works correctly outside of GameEx EXACTLY how you want it, you can get it to work EXACTLY that way in GameEx. The thing that you may be confused with is that you don't need the gui to launch Zinc. The GUI is very helpful in setting things up, though. I don't know what you are using to guide you through setting up Zinc, but I can empathize with you in your feeling that it is a challenge, especially if you are trying to set it up with joysticks instead of a keyboard. My best suggestion is to try to get everything setup with your winterblast plugin and everything. Then, once it works nicely there, point the built-in Zinc settings to it. Remember that you have to point to the .cfg files too. If you want to have it separate using nologic's settings, that would be your next step. I know this isn't a guide, but hopefully it will be enough to help you look in the right location. It took me a couple weeks to get Zinc working smoothly for me and I just hope I don't break it such that I have to start from scratch again. That would be a disaster!

  7. Nologic's setup files are intended to make Zinc a separate emulator. It will not put the games in the MAME list and launch zinc from there. If you are still trying to get these games to launch from the main MAME list, I suggest you try running the game in GameEx, waiting for the crash, quiting GameEx, and running the "Run Last Game.bat" link in the Start menu. If you don't have enough time to see the error, you can edit that file to put a "PAUSE" command at the end and try again.
  8. There is little difference between a mouse and a lightgun as far as MAME is concerned. In fact, the only difference I know of is how it tracks. With a mouse, the gun's cursor is tracked all the time, so if you move the gun across the screen, the cross hairs will follow. If you use the lightgun option, the gun will only track when you pull the trigger. So if you click on the right side of the screen the cross hair pops up there, then if you move to the left side and fire, it will jump to the new position. I think my guns may actually have been in mouse mode before, come to think of it. They were supposed to be in lightgun mode (based on what I had entered into the MAME.ini), but now that I think about it, they were tracking the whole time. Thanks for the post, it sparked a thought!
  9. In the current versions of MAME (v0.118+), there is a new control system. This new system is more picky and doesn't accept inputs from AHK, AI, GameEx, XPadder, etc quite as nicely. As a result, GameEx no longer can send the bypass disclaimer string (OKOKOKOKOK) to go strait to the game. If you search the forum, there is a thread about compiling your own version based on some instructions and a couple patches. If you do that, you will end up with a version of MAME that doesn't even ask questions any more, so you don't need to worry about it!
  10. You need to press the coin button which is button 5 for player 1 or button 6 for player 2. If you are pressing 6 and it doesn't work, then I'm guessing that keyboard button 5 is the only one GameEx looks for.
  11. Ok, so you are using c++ then. Yeah, I don't have much experience with that one. I'm primarily a script programmer (vba, vbscript, AHK, etc.), but I do have C and FORTRAN in my background too. I'm sorta learning Python (mainly as I need to work with it). I could probably help with pseudocode, but not much on the code. Perhaps someone that knows c++ could help? EDIT: Upon review, that's not exactly c++ either. I guess you are doing some kind of simplified logic only, no formatting c++ variant? Or, is that c#? In any case, I can't help with formatting!
  12. I think Adultery means the class is called "Programming Logic" meaning the class is all about the logic. More of a pseudocode, wrap your head around the problem course. I don't know what language you are using in particular, but that would be helpful.
  13. The answer is in this thread In any case, yes there are settings to turn ambiance on/off that can be configured through the configuration wizard. Search for ambiance or audio in the wizard and you should find the settings you are looking for.
  14. batch file? AHK file? AI file? There are a lot of choices, but if you use batch, you can use "pause"
  15. You will have to provide more info such as what you are trying to run. Is this a problem where GameEx doesn't display, or where a certain emulator doesn't work, etc.?
  16. Yeah, it looked like he was able to get a pair of LCD top guns to work with MAME 0.117. If so, then they should work with any current version since that was the major change that broke everything. When I get my drivers back up, I'm going to try reading the thread really carefully to see what I need to have in there for settings. Btw, he said something about T2 and positional guns. I have never gotten Golly Ghost to work. Did it have positional guns or standard light guns? EDIT: Just looked at the picture of the GG cab on klov and it looks like they were positional guns!
  17. Maybe the new controls were 0.118...in any case, they broke a bunch of stuff like all of my SF configs... EDIT: Here's a link that says it was 0.118 that incorporated the lightgun change.
  18. Actually, the cross hairs were enabled by default in v0.111 or thereabouts. If you want to turn one or both either on or off, you can simply hit F1 to toggle through. As far as AdvanceMAME working, it should. BUT, you could also just use another version of MAME that's pre v0.117. There are advantages to AdvanceMAME as well as MAME+, MAME++, AnalogMAME, etc. I've tried a few, but stick with vanilla MAME for my primary use although MAME++ has a nice volume leveling thing that's cool. Anyway, my point is that you can use ANY derivative version of MAME prior to 0.117 and you should be ok with the guns.
  19. I used to tell my wife about anything I bought that cost more than $20 (cost of a tank of gas) thinking that she would do likewise. Well, it didn't work and gas costs a LOT more than that now, so I'm looking at more than $60 these days. Actually, I still tell her about it cause I like to see her get mad...
  20. This has to do with the new controls system incorporated in MAME v0.117. My dual gun setup worked fine prior to upgrading. If you use advanceMAME, you will see that they still work since it uses the old controller setup. I'm currently struggling with the same problem and have decided that the easiest way to get them going is to set the gun games up in their own emulator and run an older version of MAME. Only problem is that I screwed up the driver that was working trying to get MAME going. So, now I get to start from scratch with them when I have time...
  21. I know how that goes!
  22. I don't know about VNC being a problem, but if you want another way to login remotely to a WinXP system, you can enable terminal services (remote desktop) with concurrent logins. It's essentially turning on a built-in feature that was disabled for home use. The system just needs to be told that it can have multiple simultaneous logins. Try this patch... It changes the terminal services DLL to the one used with an earlier build of WinXP that still had multiple simultaneous logins enabled. This patch is a single executable that does everything for you. I've been using it on 2 systems for around 3 computer years with no problems.
  23. You'll have to provide more info like your log file and/or your GameEx.ini file and/or ??? Based on what you said, nope...
  24. Incomplete projects are the best! I try to keep at least 2 or 3 at a time. Currently, I'm almost out of projects since my 2 cabs are pretty much done pending a couple final tweaks. I still have my file server (not really a project) giving me blues, but otherwise, nothing... ACTUALLY, my wife has been getting a little concerned that I don't have something in the pipe. She keeps suggesting I do something about remodeling the master bath
  25. Where did you get the dat and images (or is it a bad one to list)?
