  1. Can you hear me now....
  2. hehe, I know what you mean.
  3. Ahhh, I see the problem. Fortunately there is an easy solution. Just do option 3 in shaunopp's list. Since GameEx doesn't need analog inputs, using XPadder for GameEx only will change the joystick commands to keyboard input that matches your IPAC's keyboard input. In the long run, it would be nice if it could be mixed and matched, but the XPadder route should work just fine and it's by far the easiest thing you can do right now.
  4. Naw, they are a good thing and it's good that they are turned on by default. *MOST* people don't really want to see all 6xxx roms MAME can play. The only people I see complaining are the ones who want to be able to say "look at me, I've got 6xxx games one one machine". Don't get me wrong, that's cool. It's just not that useful having 6 versions of the identical game in a row. But yeah, it takes a bit to figure out how they affect things.
  5. I haven't really gotten into KI, but I remember reading that there were a lot of problems with it in MAME. As a result of less than perfect emulation, there is an emulator that has been put together that JUST emulates KI and KI2. Only problem is, I don't remember the name and a quick google search didn't help me remember. Anyway, one of the other guys probably uses it (nologic or Brian probably at least know the name of it I'm sure).
  6. Yup, you are To use alpha/paging, you use the button + a direction. So say button 4 is your paging button. Page Up: button 4 + Up Page Down: Button 4 + Down Alpha Up: Button 4 + Right Alpha Down: Button 4 + Left NOTE - I might have mixed up alpha and paging as I'm not in front of GameEx or my cab.
  7. If I understand correctly, you want the emulators on the front page as well as a single MAME menu. Then, inside the MAME menu, you want all of the MAME items (CPS games, Neo Geo games, etc.). If that is correct, then the answer is no. Currently, you can only have the start page with 2 menus (MAME and Emulators) or the start page with all of your menus as you have seen with "flat menus" enabled. If you want to organize in a different way, I suggest adding a request in the Features Requests thread that is stickied at the top of the forum.
  8. Good stuff guys! Almost makes me want to start over with those buttons, but then I'd end up redoing my joysticks too. That would be tough making LS-30's glow though since they have to rotate.
  9. As far as I know, the newer arcade monitors have better designs that don't require adjusting vhold and such. Some people solve this by relocating the vhold (and other controls) to a location that's easier to access such as behind the coin box door or under the CP. Hopefully though, Andy will have a better solution than that.
  10. I assume you already figured this out, but if not... All you have to do is disable the filters. There are a few, so just turn them all off. Most are listed in previous posts above, but just go to that section in the configuration wizard and disable all of them. Make sure you delete the string in the filter text box ("japan, ...")
  11. I don't have an arcade monitor in either cabinet for this very reason. From the research I did a while back, it looked like there was no way around having to adjust the monitor. I had 2 arcade monitors and got rid of both in favor of a TV and a CRT monitor for this reason and the fact that I could hook those up to the PC a lot easier, cheaper, and more reliably. Now, with that said, I know there are a lot of people here who DO run arcadeVGA cards. So all hope isn't lost as some of the smartest people here have opted for that route, which means that there is a will so there must be a way

  13. Tom may need more info, so stay tuned here as he may ask for some input from you. As Brian said, thanks for posting this.
  14. I forgot some people use GameEx as a dedicated HTPC FE, so you are correct that there are at least 2 configurations. But, The only real difference would be that there would be a few codecs that need to be installed. All of the video related stuff *should* be installable either after the fact or from 3rd parties. However, I agree that it would be nice if there was a list that described each module that is needed and what for. e.g., video codecs.....karaoke, video snaps, etc. MS Jet DB.........required for any install whatever else...for some component anyway, I think you get the idea.
  15. Yes, there are several threads that describe it in detail. If you can't find it with the search, let us know and someone can help you. Basically though, just make a MAME32 formatted list and put it in the correct directory according to your config file.
  16. Good stuff! With all the iterations, I'm surprised you never ended up starting from scratch with a trip to the lumber yard.
  17. I don't think there's much of a difference between cab's actually. Basically, everyone has the same set of hardware (motherboard, ram, cpu, video card, etc.) and appropriate drivers. That's not the question here. The question is, what is required to get GameEx running with a minimal install of Windows XP. This is not a question of how to configure hardware, it's a question of what components/modules must be installed *minimally* to get GameEx working. Either way, I think it's something that would be helpful to have answered, but I don't know if it's better here or over there. I've never played with minimal installs (well, I did once, but it's been a long time), so I won't recommend anything. Where ever the thread exists, it's helpful for both communities so it should be linked somehow.
  18. Once a blond, always a blond?
  19. Joy2Key is an old unsupported program. Although it works, I HIGHLY recommend moving on to the newer and well maintained program XPadder. It's been out for a while and I LOVE IT! The author is still in adding new features on a regular basis. He has been releasing monthly builds (and some sub builds too) for over a year now, so I suggest checking it out. And yes, any program that has keyboard support has support for gamepads via XPadder too. (btw, welcome to the forum cz2000!)
  20. Your best bet is to post your log file so we can see what's going on.
  21. Glad to hear you got it working! I guess I just assumed that the drivers were correct, but that's always something worth checking. Good catch.
  22. My personal take (not having played with PSX emus), would be that getting/creating combined discs would be best. However, that is probably not an easy task to do and might be hard to find. As such, my next thought would be to find out if it's possible to just send a command line to the program and have it take care of switching. If so, you could map a key to that somehow (AHK/AI maybe) and be good to go.
  23. I could see that being a problem
  24. I hope your joking You don't need to gain credits or anything to ask questions here. It's better to check to see if it's already been answered, but other than that, anything goes!
  25. MAME accepts either 'O' 'K' or left right to get through that nag screen. GameEx has always sent the string 'OKOKOKOKOKOKOK' when launching MAME to get through that screen. However, in MAME 117/118 time frame, they changed the input system so this no longer works. The only real solution is to use HK's compiler that Brian linked above.
