  1. I'm not too worried about it really since I grabbed Circo's intro movies. I don't turn on the game info screens for emulators other than MAME, so it's not really a problem. However, if I could get this to work, it would be pretty cool. I grabbed Circo's box and cart pics for NES and they looked pretty cool. If I could get offlinedat to work, I would use it, but I'm not interested in spending a bunch of time renaming my roms...
  2. I tried updating the GunCon2Mouse Driver that I've been using and realized why I wasn't using the most up to date one...it doesn't work Unfortunately, in my hacking, I managed to screw EVERYTHING up now, so I don't have one OR two guns available, just two badly calibrated nonworking mice basically... Back to the drawing board. I'm thinking I may have to uninstall all my gun drivers and try again from scratch on them.

  4. Are you asking how to make P2 control the GameEx front end?
  5. I d/l'ed the whole set for all the nintendo systems only to find out it didn't integrate well with my roms. I don't think mine have the standard goodmerge or no-intro names, so they don't line up well. I should just get a no-intro set and toss these, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. If you do get them working (which should be possible), a quick tutorial for what you did would be a benefit to the community!
  6. That's cool. I figured as much, but thought it was a bit in the gray area since they don't provide anything illegal on their site and, according to the site's documentation, they exist to make using your own software easier. In any case, if that's what someone was looking for, searching google would make quick work anyway. Sorry

    GameEx Crash

You know, I'm not possitive that's what it is now I'm starting to think it might have something to do with the sheller... When I have it shelled and set to autologin, it crashes the first time. When I have it booting to explorer and then launch gameex, it seems to work. I have NO idea why that would be, but sheller seems to get screwed up when it crashes. The mouse changes back to a pointer from the point and I have to login again. Not trying to convolute things, just verify it's not something I'm doing wrong. My main cabinet works great, so I don't understand why I can't get this one to work. Really weird. I'm going to keep a log of what I do today and see if I can't narrow it down to me
  8. If you want a cleaner set with less duplicates, there is a thread here that describes a good procedure for copying those subdirectories on each other in a way that you only have 1 copy of each game from the "best" region. I'm sure you can find it with a quick search!
  9. I guess I was thinking he wanted to play a rom that had multiple cd's (like some PSX games, etc) rather than a pc game. Yeah, if it's a pc game, then you could do a full install and patch like HK said. I don't know if it's ok to mention, but ************* is a good resource for patches. If that site is not allowed, please delete it. They don't host roms, just provide files used for patching, but there *might* be links to sites with roms (I've never checked).

    GameEx Crash

Ok, so should I keep testing? I just changed a bunch of things in the gameex.ini file to eliminate all other possible problems I could think of. Then I set the ini file to read only. When I reboot, it crashes (GameEx is shelled). When I run task manager and launch again, it works. This seems to be very repeatable. BTW, thanks for checking! Crash.zip
  11. There's a way to do ANYTHING you want, it just takes some time and effort. I think there are scripts available to do this (probably written by HK, nologic, or Brian, but others have written some too). If nothing suits your fancy, it would be possible to have a script setup to change the disc (using daemon tools or alchohol120) set up as a button (or button combo) on your CP. Basically, you write a script that does what you want in whatever language you choose (AHK or AI preferably) and have the script watch for a key combo while that game is running. If this game already requires a wrapper, you already have the framework to put this script in!

    GameEx Crash

I thought of that, but company came over last night, so I didn't give it a go. I'll try it and see what happens.

    GameEx Crash

I'm getting a bit frustrated in my apparent ineptitude. I have my racing cab set up pretty much how I want it, but I'm getting a crash that doesn't make any sense. The strange thing is that it only materializes on the first run from bootup and seems to run fine thereafter. I've figured out the difference between the files and suspect I know why it crashes, but it's not something that I can fix (I don't think). If you look at the files, it appears that the problem occurs when SelectedGame and GLaunchListSelected_16 is -1. [Internal] # # These settings are used internally by GameEx # They are used to do things such as remember where you were upto in lists # and the Current Playlist position. # # It is recommended you do not change anything here. # PlayListPosition=3 SelectedGame=-1 GameListTop=1 GameListType=8 LastGlaunchList=0 GLaunchListSelected_17=3 GLaunchListTop_17=1 GLaunchListSelected_16=-1 GLaunchListTop_16=1 GLaunchListSelected_15=1 GLaunchListTop_15=1 GLaunchListSelected_0=-1 After crashing the first time, and looking at the ini file again, these are the only 2 values that stand out as different. I think this is the same error I was having a while back when trying to use GameLauncher, but I'm not sure. Any help would be really great since this is the last thing standing between "my project" and "my working cab". It would also remove the source for some nagging by the wife Setup.zip
  14. I think if you search the forum, there's at least one HOTD3 wrapper already written.
  15. This is a common question. I don't know if we have it documented in any central location, but basically the answer is to write a wrapper using a batch file, autoit, autohotkey, etc that launches the program and waits for it to end to terminate. There are a number of examples on the forum. If you need further help creating one, let us know and someone can help you out. EDIT: Damn, Brian beat me to it
  16. Is there any way to assign a key to turn the bezel on/off in MAME. Okay...I already know the answer is no, but I was really wondering if anyone has an idea of a way to write a script to do it or to modify the source? This could be kinda cool, but I'm not going to pull out my keyboard to look at the controls!

    MAME Snaps

I think the concern is that any website/tracker that hosts roms is not supposed to be linked. I personally think this should be a special case since the torrent can be linked directly without going to the site. BUT, I'm not Tom, so what I say doesn't count.
  18. There was a utility that was posted a while back that could read and write to Access DBs. If I remember correctly, it was posted in one of the threads involved in the creation of these DBs. If you can't find it, I'll take a look.
  19. Are you sure they are working with your drivers? I'm using these. The guns track correctly and the triggers work fine, but MAME doesn't accept the second gun's clicks as being from the second gun. I might need to change the keys they are mapped to. I guess that's something to look into. EDIT: Acording to this post, I'm thinking that I probably have the triggers set to the actual mouse buttons (based on what's happening on my cab). It suggests mapping mouse buttons to keys and assigning those keys to actions in MAME. I'll give that a try next chance I get.
  20. Looks like I may have been wrong about my guns working. They both track and shoot, but I just realized that gun 2 shots register as being from gun 1. I've played around with it a bit, but haven't figured out what the problem is yet. I know both guns are tracking separately in windows since the drivers show them tracking independent, but the clicks don't seem to be working correctly. Anyone find anything that might help in the last month or so?
  21. 1) Uninstall GameEx and delete the directory 2) Reinstall GameEx 3) Do not configure any emulators and just run GameEx bare stock to see if it runs (it should) 4) Customize as desired a little at a time rather than everything all at once OPTIONAL) Before you delete the GameEx directory, copy GameEx/CONFIG/GameEx.ini to a backup location. When done with the above (assuming it works), compare the files to see what the difference is. It could be the config, but it could also be a corrupted install.
  22. For those two files, you could set them as read only so that GameEx can't overwrite them. I don't know if that would cause an error, but it would keep you from losing your settings. btw, I like the idea of expanding support for the built in emulators. I'm guessing that would be a lot of work, so I'm not going to hold my breath.
  23. .NET 3.0? I didn't realize there was a 3.0, but you may want to get 2.0 since that's what GameEx uses. I don't know if 3.0 is fully backwards compatible.
  24. Yeah, I saw they were there! I am going to play with this soon, but I was busy today. Thanks for the great work!
  25. Yup, here's the log and ini. I haven't finished setting anything up after realizing the first version didn't have enough buttons for me, so it's only half way done. Anyway, here you go... CPWizard.zip
