Do you have any pics of how you put together the female gpio pin header plugs? I had similar task to do with Ataroid and bought the means to make dupont connectors. problem was they are an absolute ***** to use, so looking for alternative means. As for the led, didnt read it all, but cant you put a resistor in front of it.
