I would be very interested in seeing some photos of this project of yours. I'm considering building a dedicated arcade PC with a mini ITX myself. Emph

Go to your MAME\cfg folder and delete "default.cfg". Then open up MAME32, run a game and hit [TAB] and enter your key configuration in the -GENERAL- menu. If this doesn't work, I'm out of clues for now. It would be helpful if you mention what build you are using and what interface you are using (hacked keyboard still?). Good luck, and welcome! Emph

jedah: I know it's been ages since you posted this, but if you still want to get Virtua Tennis running with two players, here's the trick to get it working that I didn't realize until the friendly support team at X-Gaming pointed it out to me: Virtua Tennis can only use 2 Axis Game controllers. By default, PPortJoy creates 8 Axis Virtual Controllers. You need to manually change the axis to 2. Then you should be able to see them in Virtua Tennis. Emph

I have Windows XP Home SP2 with .net 1.1 & .net 2.0 (with the latest updates, do I need to check for all updates for 1.1 even if I'm running 2.0 now?) running on my laptop. My MAME directory as well as all games roms are on an external HD connected through Firewire. I'm just puttin up as much info as I think can help. MAME is 0.110 and I have an updated gamelist. Log is attached. Emph create_gamelist_log.txt

I still get this if I'm trying to create MAME videos. Also, I get a "no disc in drive I:" error. Like GameEx is trying to open something on this drive. Can't remember having set up anything on that drive. Emph

So as the really great plugins start to flow, will they be absorbed by GameEx and included preconfigured with upcoming versions? Or added into the main program if possible? The less new users has to install and configure, the better. Great work guys! Emph

Respect! Boyakhasha! And so on... WTF? Emph

Well, I haven't gotten it to start up properly yet, so don't hold your breath waiting for me to cough up a config. Emph

No, that happends most times I change anything through the Advanced Configuration App. And not only MAME settings, but other emus too. I have learned to work around it, but for other users it could be a mystery that they find not worth solving and move on to other (not as good) frontends. Vertical games are a big piece of MAME gaming you know. Emph

Can someone confirm if any of these titles are playable: Raiden III Castle Shikigami II Contra: Shattered Soldiers Neo Contra Gradius V These are the games I want to play in my cabinet, so if you know their status, please say so. Emph

Is this why GameEx changes the Bezelversion from 2 -> 1 for no (and wrong) reason as well? Because I've tried to make you see that's a bug. Emph

Apparantly, that mockup image that he's done is very accurate to the game he's after. He played it in Italy, so it might be some sort of italian bootleg, but it's definately an arcade game and not for home systems. Emph

This is an .ini-file that enables browsing and opening of .cbr & .cbz files with CDisplay Comic Reader http://www.geocities.com/davidayton/CDisplay (it's an app that reads .rar and .zip renamed to .cbr or .cbz containing various picture formats). If you're a comic fan (like myself) and like to read the latest comics (marvel and so on) you might be familiar with the format. The CDisplay is similar to Adobe Acrobat in functionality, but has fully customizable controls that makes it great for viewing pictures that you can store zipped on your harddrive (excellent for those "special collections" ) and is a fullscreen app. Here's the emulator .ini to use CDisplay with GameEx: [Emulator_1] Enabled=True STARTPAGENAME=Comic - Ultimate Spider-Man TITLETEXT=Ultimate Spider-Man StartPageLogo= ROMFilter=*.cbr;*.cbz RomsInFolders=False RomPath=D:\Comics\Ultimate Spider-Man SnapPath=D:\Comics\Ultimate Spider-Man\covers TitlePath= BoxPath= CartPath= WorkingPath=C:\Program Files\CDisplay MapKeys=True WaitBeforeKeys= SendKeys= ReplaceDash=True ReplaceUnder=True Capitals=True RemoveBrackets=True ShowDesktop=True Debug=False MAPFile= AlsoLaunch= Command=cdisplay.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" OLDatZip= LaunchBefore= LaunchAfter= configFile= ExcludedFiles= CustomBackground= PlayMusic= PCGame= DATABASE= GamesIn7Zips= PlayInScreenSaver=False [GENERAL] DumbyValue= Like this: Emph

It's an arcade game. He was around 9 years old when he played it so... Emph

A friend of mine is trying to find out the name of one of his old arcade favorites. He's created this mockup image of the general look of that game: As he remembers it, when you shoot an enemy, it shows the score like in the image. The background is mostly black, but sometimes you get some kind of hyperspace mode or something and the screen flashes in red. The palette is very limited, like 8 colors or so. Apparantly, in addition to your ship moving left and right you can also manouver it up and down. And the sprites are as ugly as in the mockup. The yellow enemy ship is almost identical to the game. Games ruled out so far: Halley's Comet (graphics to good) Juno First Astro Blaster Astro Fighter/Astro Fire Cosmos Star Trek Red Clash Space Raider Excerion Sky Base Sky Chuter Megatack Moon Cresta Moon Quasar Gorf Space Encounters Cosmos Challenger Lazarian Space Tactics Space Fortress Enigma Dark Warrior Super Astro Fighter (DECO) Bosconian Emph

I always use the Advanced Configuration App when I make changes to my ini, and it's right after the "regular" launch fields in there. Emph
-
Try the "launch after don't wait" and see if that helps. I had the exact same problems when I wanted to use AutoHotKey-scripts with some PC games, so I had to give that up. Now I only use the launch tools when GameEx starts (i have a script that presses Num Lock) and when it ends (presses Num Lock again). Emph

I'll try the dll swap tomorrow. Now it's bed time in Sweden. But I think it's a good thing you added support for ChankEx, perhaps they'll live up to your expectations sooner than you think. I noticed a great speedup in Border Down, at least when I let ChankEx decide the fps by itself. Think outside the box that is your precious Soul Calibur. Emph
-
Doesn't work for me unfortunately. If I run it through GameEx ChankEx just crashes (send error report to ms crap). This is probably due to the cd image not being loaded, because I created a .bat file to test my command line and it gives me "Mount switch syntax error" something. I have set my drive letter ( I: ) and drive # ( 0 ) correctly. I'm using Daemon Tools 4 something. (That worked with the older launcher). Oh, and I tried having GameEx mount the images like in the jombee posted. Still no luck. chankast_launch.txt Dreamcast2.txt Emph
-
Does Chankast Launch still support using .lnk's (command line) or just the in-built .ini functionality? Because two of my games are on the same disc, and I want them to appear as two items in GameEx, so I can have screenshots for each games. i.e. Border Down Ikaruga as opposed to: Border Down/Ikaruga Emph

Every once in a while I change some setting with the Advanced Configuration app, mostly non-MAME-related stuff. And everytime I have to go into CONFIG\gameex.ini afterwards and change my Bezelversion=1 -> Bezelversion=2 manually. Hope this is gone in the next version. *ducks* Emph

Oh, most importantly (and I did forget this) if you change any filters for the MAME games, you will need to update your gamelist again as well. Emph
-
1. Is this an app that needs to be started before you run GameEx? Open your configuration app and go to -> Tweaks/Performance -> Launch On Startup ->Browse to your WinIpac driver, because that's basically an .exe that needs to load, right? 2. Are you a registered user? In that case, perhaps the GameEx bezel feature is messing with you. in the configuration app go to -> Basic MAME settings -> Use bezel (change to Dont use bezel) Working now? You say you see less games when using Mame32, this is confusing, are you using a different build (i.e. version)? In configuration app go to -> Advanced MAME settings, page 2 where you change all the filters to "no" starting with "only working games" to "only existing roms". If you feel that AdvanceMAME is what you want, run a Neo Geo game and bring up the GUI (usually with the 'tab' button) and go to -> Video settings and experiment 'til you find a setting that fills your screen up then select that resolution for all games of that resolution. Hope this takes you from "NOOB" to "Happy NOOB". Emph
