    Themes

GameEx should recognize your themes by finding the "theme.ini" file. Have a look inside those folders and make sure that you don't have yet another folder inside with the same name. Example: Wrong: c:\Program\GameEx\Themes\Default - Blue As The Sky\Blue As The Sky\theme.ini Right: c:\Program\GameEx\Themes\Default - Blue As The Sky\theme.ini Emph
  2. Yes, to use the native resolutions would of course be best, but since we don't know what type of input he's using (and my guess here was S-VHS, because that's the most common type in MAME cabs). RGB would of course be the best because that would mean he could turn his TV into a true arcade monitor with the right videocard and modelines. Emph
  3. Mame does run Metal Slug 5. At least the current version does. Emph
  4. Even better for that side request (if possible) that while GameEx is updating the gamelist, the working choice for bezel format is automatically chosen. Because if someone is running 0.108 then decides to "downgrade" to say, 0.106, they still have to run update GameList, right? Here's a request, can GameEx check the mame version and show a "new mame version detected, update gamelist yes/no?" This would also make things easier for n00bs. (Can't believe I used that term...)
  5. Congrats! Have fun. Emph
  6. If you open up the "Advanced Configuration" app, and go to "Display" you can set font size there. But beware that font size can also be stored in the themes' .ini-files, so depending on your choice in theme, you'll have to check that also. Best resolution for your TV is depending on if you use S-VHS, composite, component-RBG or Scart-RBG inputs. If you're using S-VHS, then I would recommend 1024x768 or 800x600. I'm not sure what you mean with "background images", do you mean the desktop wallpaper? Emph
  7. So what did you do to get it working? Changed theme? Emph
  8. In GameEX display settings choose a theme with 640 x 288. This should work, but like I said before, I don't own an ArcadeVGA. Have you tried installing Ultimarc's Quickrez? http://www.ultimarc.com/quickres.exe Install it, put a shortcut in your autostart folder on your start menu. Then click on the icon that looks like a Galaga ship in your system tray to choose from the supported video modes for your ArcadeVGA. Also, make sure that you've installed it correctly -> http://www.ultimarc.com/avgainst.html (See Windows XP installation a bit down on that page). Emph
  9. Perhaps that user is running MAME 0.106? Emph
  10. I don't have an ArcadeVGA card unfortunately, so I'm kinda reaching blindly in the dark here. But I assumed that his 640 x 480 was interlaced. I know that arcade monitors can display that resolution so I assumed that was it. Any news on this, wouter? Emph
  11. Did you do all the settings manually for the emulators you can't get working in GameEx or did you import settings? For GBA, in the fields "Wait before keys" enter 1500 and in "Keys to send" enter {esc} and GameEx will wait 1500 ms then press escape once. Emph
  12. "640x480 32 bit color" is that what you're running successfully for Windows as well? Emph
  13. Well, that looks sturdy enough. Not what I'd go for, but I wouldn't have such a huge control panel either. I guess arcade cabinets doesn't look the same in different parts of the world. I don't have any fan nor ventilation in my cabinet. But my PC monitor that I use blew a fuse about a month ago so I'm considering at least ventilation. You are safe using that I think. Emph
  14. Could I please see a picture of the "problem area", i.e. the control panel? The first picture you've posted is somewhat helpful though. I recommend this kind of mechanism to fasten your "controller box" onto your cabinet. Preferably accessible by reaching in through your coin door. This way, it's quick enough if you want to fix stuff yet not accessible for your "customers". So, by your "formica", do you mean control panel overlay with graphics or something? It's not the best idea to put that onto your control panel until it's all put together. If this is glued on, you're in a bit of trouble I think. More pictures of your control panel box please. Emph
  15. Post some pictures of what you have and I shall give you some good advice. Emph
  16. If you're using an Arcade VGA card, I don't think changing OS will make any difference with your graphical issues. Are you using the latest drivers for your card? It sounds to me that this has to do with your GameEx configuration as you can run MAME32 and see your Windows desktop without problems. Emph
  17. Run GameEx Close GameEx Go to the GameEx program group in the start menu Click on "Log file" Copy contents and post in this thread This will make things easier to narrow down your problems. And make sure to take note of any settings that you do after posting your Log file here in case someone can pinpoint your issue. Edit: Also attach your GameEx.ini (found in CONFIG directory). Emph
  18. I'm not sure, but I think that's for Tom to figure out and include in (hopefully) the next major update to GameEx. Emph
  19. Here's a pinout for that: but like TX_TRINITY said, you'd be better off with something like this: that's like $3 here in Sweden, shouldn't cost much anywhere in the world. And it's not as unsafe either. Emph
  20. Or at least create One single topic about the building process of your cabinet and post everything related to that process in that same topic. This way, questions about GameEx has a chance of staying on the first page long enough not to annoy the people that post them. This will be simpler for you as well Katuuz, you just have to check that topic every other hour instead of the 20 other ones that you've created. I hope I'm not stepping on anyones toes here, just trying to keep things on a level of sanity. Emph I'm sure there's some adapter that you could pick up from a computer shop that split the one connected to your cd to you yet another molex for your coin lights. Emph
  21. Which ones of the themes do you use? Perhaps you've selected a theme that forces a resolution your card can't display? Hope you get it sorted out! Emph
  22. Nero images are .nrg. You can mount them with Daemon Tools or with Nero Imagedrive. Don't bother changing the extension with Nero images. Only works for binary images like ISO, IMG and BIN as far as I know. Emph
  23. I don't know if there's a logoff screen app, but you can setup GameEx to launch an app on exit, can't you? There should be some pictureviewer or something that might be able to show up real quick... Emph
  24. Isn't that English and English (Custom)? Emph
  25. On the Emulator download page it would be nice to have a * symbol before the "recommended" emus. Now there's two different PSX emus for example. Which one do I choose? Is there a big difference? This would make people less confused I think. It made me confused, and I'm a "GameEx Guru". Emph
