Oh yeah? Cool. I will try that and upload my config again. CDisplay is an app that reads .zip and .rar archives that has a changed extension (zip->cbz rar->cbr). I don't think it'll have PDF support, but I don't really know much about anything. It would be really cool if you'd have the option in GameEx e-book setup like this (-> is just in the example to illustrate a selector bar in the wizard/advanced config): E-Books ____________________ PDF Support (Use GameEx built in support) -> Yes/No Support for CBR and CBZ format -> Yes/No Path to CDisplay comic viewer -> Browse The "Path to CDisplay comic viewer" could be greyed out unless the above is selected. I haven't checked for a while, but I'm guessing that CDisplay is open source and perhaps could be worked into a GameEx plugin? Emph

Yes, +1 here on the CDisplay use. I've already did a config-file to use it (available in the config&ini thread), but it would be nice to be able to see "read this e-book now" instead of "play this game now" on the screen. Also, the option of grouping series of books (for comic books for example) in a folder or something would be nice. Sorry if this comes off to much as a feature request. Emph
  3. It's all good Mr Speirs. GameEx rocks! Emph
  4. There must be someone who has the time to create a little conversion app that can copy the "old" GameEx favourites into a favourites.ini file? Headkaze? Emph
  5. I have the X-Arcade dual, so I just use keyboard settings for Raiden III. Works perfectly. I haven't installed Virtua Tennis 3 in my cab yet. What kind of controller/interface do you use? Emph

  8. Unfortunately, I didn't get it to work. I use the X-Arcade dual. I think that's the problem. I'm gonna build a new panel when I have some more time. Perhaps this summer. Buttons work, but not navigation. It's really strange though, since it's only keypresses. Does AutoHotKey use different key-codes for "8" and "numpad 8"? If that's the case, perhaps I can figure it out. Thanks. Emph

  10. I've chosen to filter away adult games and Mahjong games. Still, when screensaver is running, I see Mahjong games pop up. I've tried to solve this by choosing "only favorites" in the screensaver settings. But I still get "unwanted" games in my screensaver. I wonder if this is somehow related to this issue: http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=3496 since I seem to get "weird behaviour" from GameEx that noone else seem to get. Emph
  11. Great work there, PimpDaddyStu! It really wasn't that hard to do after all. Edit: I've tried this now, and the buttons work fine, but I can't seem to get my controls to work for some reason. Wait, I just thought of something... Perhaps I'll get it to work. Emph

    My Website

The gif format uses nondestructive compression. It's all about the number of colours you use. A Gif can therefore be HUGE, but if it only contains 4 colours, it will still not look like crap and have a small file size. Also, gifs can be animated. JPEG compression is better for photos, or images with thousands of colours. The png format is generally the best looking, because it uses some kind of nondestructive compression, but it tends to be bigger in size because of that. Emph

Very Clean site mate. The MCE Glossy download link is broken though. You've got a .gif at the end of the link (.zip.gif). Emph
  14. Here's a nice small cabinet if you need some inspiration at this point: It's Italian made professional JAMMA cabinet. It houses a 14" CRT rotatable arcade screen. It's a bit tight for two people to play the whole night, but for at game or two, it works. Best of luck. Emph

    BezelVersion

Here's a link to the build I'm currently using: http://redump.emubase.de/mame.php It's the P4 optimized build for 0.114. I'll check the log nex time GameEx is acting up. Thanks. Emph

Did you find out anything about this Tom? *hides behind cab* Emph

    BezelVersion

The difference between BezelVersion 1/2 is how new the MAME build is. Version 1 is for builds previous to the new graphics engine. Version 2 is for the new one. Naturally, most people will use version 2. I just upgraded from 0.113u2 FX to 0.114 (P4 Optimized) but this has been an issue for me ever since the autodetection feature was introduced. How about a (nondefault) feature to turn the autodetection of MAME-version off? I've actually requested it'd be investigated before but no luck. Thanks for the attention! It might help to know that: What I do when I upgrade to a newer build is "get" the updated roms, update my library using clrmame pro and the MAME build of my choice (this time no FX build was ready for 0.114) change the MAME.exe for GameEx using the Advanced Configuration app, run GameEx and finally Update Game List then I try to launch 1941 since it's the first vertical game in my gamelist and GameEx exits back to the gamelist. I then go into my GameEx CONFIG folder and gameex.ini and do a search/replace for BezelVersion=1 -> BezelVersion=2 in Notepad. Now everything works. Edit: I've checked my log, and I don't see anywhere that GameEx is checking MAME version? Is that not visible in the log? It just checks the path and .exe name, right? Emph

    BezelVersion

This is something I've learnt to live with, but it's still super annoying. Am I the only one who has to manually change BezelVersion=1 to BezelVersion=2 EVERY time I've changed MAME version? Please Tom, change the default setting to BezelVersion=2 because I really think most users are using the newest MAME build. It sometimes even changes even though I haven't made any MAME changes. Emph
  19. There's a plugin for MediaPortal that does something similar: http://www.team-mediaportal.com/files/Down...rtPowerControl/ I guess it's open source, so if someone can port it to GameEx or just get inspired from it... Emph
  20. Great work Tom! I also found out that if a theme is using a font that's not installed currently, GameEx crashes. Would be great to have GameEx check for the font somehow and either display a "Font is missing" or simply default to using a Windows font, like Verdana or Trebuchet. Emph
  21. That would be really cool! Or a plugin that triggers the rotation mechanism when you press the "tab" (GameEx default key for frontend screen rotation). Emph
  22. Update: I changed theme using Advanced Configuration instead. I got another crash, but that's because I had disabled the title font in my Gameex.ini. It had a blank entry (''). I set it to Trebuchet and it started up. I then changed to my Red & Blue theme (available on Nights site, that's right) and it worked. I then changed back to Media Center without GameEx crashing. So far so good. I then tried Soul Calibur theme (looked a bit off but worked) but then when I tried to switch to the Goonies theme GameEx crashed again with a DirectX error (sorry, no log attached this time). I rebooted, but I still have problems starting the Goonies theme. I changed to Valhalla, and it's all working nicely. Emph
  23. I just upgraded to this (actually first 7.95 and created the log below but with 7.96 it's still crashing) and I get crashed on theme selection in the Theme Picker. I'm trying to change from my own Red & Blue theme (1024x768) to Media Center (as I'm dying to see how it looks). I don't have an internet connection on my cabinet PC (wireless issues, don't ask) so I've unchecked the option to download the default themes during installation if that could cause this.
