I moved this topic from the general forum as it doesn't really fit there. cintinued... The SDK has a bunch of utilitys I don't understand yet. But when I open the Demo control code, I can at least somewhat tell where it defines buttons, timers, and controler initilization. In the SDK zip there is a readme with controller commands to dev using a PACLED64, for example. If Im reading the code right. It makes a simple window displaying 2 buttons. I dont see where the buttons are defined as coming from a controller source (initilized or whatever the terminology is). BTW: what does this mean? "NOTE: The following procedure is required by the Windows Form Designer. It can be modified using the Windows Form Designer. Do not modify it using the code editor." So I guess what I need to do is this:

Could something like this be used in emulators to allow you to plug in a second, say n64 controller, if a buddy descides to join in after the emu has already been loaded? Usually I need to exit out of the game, plug all controllers in, then restart the emulator, otherwise it doesn't recognize the controllers.

Yeah, thats nice. I'll admit that It's not completly greek to me, but most of the commands are. If I played around with it a bit I might be able to figure out what each section is responsable for. Wish they took the effort to add more explanatory text in the code. Ultimarc's controlers also have compatability with LEDblinky and their own PACLED64 controller program. LED bliknky is popular for LED arcade buttons among MAME users. GameEX has a LEDwiz plugin too. I'm pretty unclear on how these work, but as I understand it they allow for LED CP profiles for various emulators and in MAME per game control layouts. I think these are separte from what I was talking about though, so I'd probably be stuck with the SDK and trying to Dev a program myself. Perhaps the first step would be to integrate the LED control Panel first using LEDwiz or LEDblinky first to familiarize myself with the programs. The part I'd have real trouble with is adding button mapping in the 'Simon' game's user interface so you can map the games colored buttons to your control panel's LED or Colored Buttons. And of course sending lighting control out to the controller for LED illumination as you mentioned. Ultimarc links a PacDriveSDK for devs looking to control LEDs with a custom program, info here. It does support VB.net so there's a plus! This is probably what I would have to do and make the Simon game a stand alone game launched via executable. I've puttered around wit Visual Basic before, It was nice, but I was very out of my league. I had to look up commands for everything and how to do somthing basic, when what I wanted was much harder. We'll see though PS: The Readme says the Pac-DriveSDK dev is none other than Ben Baker (aka Headkaze)! LOL. Small world huh?

I found a JavaScript source for a simple HTML based mockup of the game here. The number of buttons is correct but I would need to know code to figure out how to map these to the button switches and LED controller. Perhaps I could rework the simple visual display to reflect the buttons and their colors to match my CP, then it would display correctly on the monitor. Of course this being HTML I would have to imbed it in a webpage (I assume). I don't have the first clue about web dev, JavaScript, and etc. I'd prefer to wrap it all up into a neat little executable. Does this sound like a daunting task for a beginner, or do the more experienced coders out there think this might be a good project for me to get my beginning code on.

Hardware and settings: Panasonic Viera 1080p Plasma HDTV (Connected VIA HDMI input) AMD Radeon HD 7660D + 7700 Dual Graphics (Connected VIA miniHDMI - HDMI adapter output) Dolphin v4.0-6930, OpenGL, 3D side-by-side, full screen native resolution Problem: Dolphin displays game side by side just as if I turned to a 3D channel. However my TV is supposed to recognize a 3D signal, notify me, and then I press a button that overlays the screens, and then pair my glasses (Active 3D). This does not happen in Dolphin. No signal detected. I have to manually choose the display side-by-side 3D, but my 3D glasses won't pair when I do this. What gives?

They are struggling to protect a business that is moving into a digital frontier that can't be controlled like it could in the analog media age. They are trying to litigate the future to regain the business models of the past. They can’t have full control of digital media and it scares the money out of them and into the pockets of lawyers. These are the last gasps of an industry fighting to survive. Eventually, as with every revolution, innovative solutions supersede/supplant the failing model, transforming the industry and leading it into a new profitable business model. That’s what is happening here. The process is just underway and people are scared because of the uncertain future. They want to be ahead of the curve, but they are stuck in the past. Are you limited to the N64 ports that nintendo offers in the wii store? Is it possable to convert *.n64 to whatever format this uses? I perfer project 64, but there are many ways for a cat to end up like inside-out boy.

It lacks the ability to slide left and right. Any joystick will let you move forward, back. left and right. But what I want is up and down in the 3rd dimention, in addition to the other 2.

Does anyone know of a joystick that allows you to pull up and press down as a third axis control for Space theme games like Descent, where you can slide up and down in addition to the familiar forward, back, left and right common to FPS? I'm interested in making a control scheme with this joystick in my left hand for sliding in all 3 dimensions. In the right hand would be a second traditional flight joystick with the familiar yaw and pitch controls + multiple firing buttons/sliders for weapon select, bombs/mines, primary and secondary fire. The idea is to have an intuitive control scheme for movement in all three axes (XYZ + Pitch/yaw. Roll might be too much). The only solution I have found is a twisting joystick, which is not what I'm looking for in a three axis joystick. Seems like this would be easy to find, but then it really is only useful in space games/or ROV control schemes (not many, if any, games in that genre though). I'm just a huge fan of the DESCENT series and always dreamed of these controls.

Has anyone rigged up a simon says game for their RGB LED arcade buttons using an LED controller (Arduino, PACLED64, whatever)? I'm looking into adding RGB LEDs buttons to my X-arcade Tankstick. I'm looking for other uses/games that could take advantage of them. I like the old simon says game and think it would be cool if that could be launched with GameEX. The screen would not even be needed, but could integrated somehow. I kind of wish I was better at programing. This gives me some neat Ideas. Wondering if anyone has heard of this somewhere. Maybe you can point me to some code.

Hey, just wanted to say thank you for your hard work improving an already awesome theme. I've been absent (Finising my BS) for a while and am just getting caught up. Just read through all your progress on this theme and am very impressed. It's very cool man! I really like the custom bezels (I'm a little aprehensive about loosing real estate by wrapping the bezel around the top and bottom of the game window, but it still looks good). It's a very interesting idea. I really like the N64 bezel (now if only I could get that rumble pack to work! LOL)

Can you imagine going to a party and the Guy playing the keyboard isn't playing a real keyboard? It would look weird. It would be an invaluable training tool to simulate practices and procedures for dangerous jobs, like sterile technique in a CDC lab. Even making sandwiches at subway or what have you. I see this technology revolution reshaping society when it gets past the novelty stage, which from the look of it may be very soon. Cool read!

I'm a firm believer that you shouln't go to college unless you need the degree for work. Why pay off the student loans if you don't need to? I only got it because advancement to a full time position requires it. But I already had been working where I plan to. It makes getting the degree harder, big time commitment, but knowing for sure you have a job when you graduate helps to swallow the debt! Having a HS Diploma and Baccalaureate now are equivalent in pay, depending on what you want to do and where your willing to go for work. Most of the jobs in my area that require a four year degree i've looked at pay $36,000 - $45,000 per year. When I was working metal Fabrication, it had a higher top end for journeyman than that! So, it just made more sense to wait untill I was sure I needed the degree to make the jump. It just depends on the type of work you want to do and the abilitys you are willing to gain. I'm told it gives me more options. We'll see... Don't beat your self up, or let others beat you up. Education comes in all forms, free and paid. Whether you have a HS Diploma or a PHD means nothing if you can't find work. Find the work first! Then get the school, if necessary. Besides, many jobs now require a highly specialized skillset and employers are willing to send some employees to school for them to get it, if they can't train you themselves first. Just put yourself out there.

I previously held 2 Associates degrees from junior college, so I only needed to take the Upper division coursework. I've been working after the associates, lost the job then went back to school. Now I got the old job back. In case you’re wondering about that too. I was bumped from my position by another employee with seniority when her position was eliminated. She retired 6 months ago, hence the 100hr weeks working + School.

I think this is an interisting idea! Ilike the retro-aspect of the wall wort plug. I wonder though why they do't just go to the source and eliminatet the need for a power cord? I immagine a usb PC that plugs directly into your monitor. Of course, TVs and monitors would need to support USB 3 devices. Then it could simply be a cheap retrofit for a TV to make it like an all-in-one PC (Without the touchscreen).

And Microsoft is giving away windows 10 to all the 7 and 8.1 users? Geez! They have the money to give away a free OS but won’t pay Sony for a Codec? They must be suffering from Dissociative personality disorder (AKA Multiple Personality Disorder). What’s next? Maybe they'll decide to stop paying for digitally signed drivers, so they don’t have to pay them selves. Figure that one out! Don't get me wrong, free is a very good price (As long as it's addless). It just seems like this change is out of character for the money grubbing, penny pinching Microsoft I grew up knowing. The Bluray support is par for the course, but a free OS? #Nonsense

I like this idea. +1 Would be nice if allowed you to choose a custom background image for each system controller to be plugged in, per emulator basis. Also if the contunue button were mappable as well, again per emulator basis. This way you can have a picture of the controller and map the start button to any x-input device. I sometimes have the issue of forgetting to plug my controller in until after starting the game. Of course the controller ins't recognized until you exit back to GE then restart the emu.

Woops! Spelling err, I didn't say I was going to an Ivy League College. LOL. No I just finished my Baccalaureate. I suppose I could activate the spell check in firefox, but for security reasons I like to keep the 3rd party extentions to a minimum I actually just got a Bluray drive for my HTPC. Just downloaded VLC, did the special Magic to get it to play BR but it would be nice to frontend that process. Looks like WMC won't play them, as I read before I purchased. Is there a reason why? Greed? Or will 10 possably make this possable within, say, windows media player?

Just read that windows media center will be uninstalled. I like media center. I use it for my HTPC, which is the one I'm considering updating. I know GameEX does this, but honestly I perferr WMC for DVDs. Is there an equivelent on 8 or 10 anyone is aware of? BTW: I'm back! Finished that Collage thing (Hardest 2 years of my life, especially the last 6 months. 100hr weeks are brutal)

Interesting, I was thinking it would make a cool frontend, period. I've seen a few, but they are not well done and the movement inside them sucks. When will we get full 3D environments to create in the GE editor? Think of the custom themes then! I envision a Sketchup like modeler, GE backend, and render in something like the unreal engine.
