Lol! Watch out while I bust a move in my car
-
Lol, they are a band from the U.K. ...They've been around since about '99, but didn't really make it big in the US until last year - I went to two of their concerts ...the H.A.A.R.P. tour and the one last year when "Resistance" was released . I've found a link on youtube that shows a compilation of their songs (from all their albums): Ahh Sirius! lol, I've got XM, and I see we are both fans of Backspin...I mimic Michael Bolton from the movie "Office Space" when I'm on my way to work
-
I'm a HUGE Muse fan! For a little while though, I was a little out of the loop when it comes to the progress the band is making on their new album "2nd Law". I found out the other day that the Album will be released in October, with their first single, "Survival" being released in the next few days or so (it's out already on youtube I think lol)... So what do you think? Excited as I am?? lol

I gotta disagree with u-man about the wireless guns....Only because of two reasons - 1. They have to run off of some power source. I've never had a wireless arcade lightgun, but I only can figure that it runs off of batteries, which poses a small problem of -a- always having to change them and spend money on batteries and -b- if you are in the middle of a game when your batteries start running out of juice, the gun will probably start losing functioinality. 2. If you have kids (like I do) lol, you really gotta be careful and keep a good eye on the guns - kids can pick them up and start playing with them and you might find them in the driveway or something...its better to have a wired so that ya can have at least a small leash on the matter . Lol, and as a american, I can agree with u-man about the SUPERSIZEME...we had a show here a few years back on the Discovery Channel called "BIG", where a group of engineers would have a deadline in building upscale models of regular things. My favorite episode was the one that they build a HUGE guitar (holds the world's record now) and as a freelance musician, seeing a guitar that big and the ceremony for it's revealing was "opened" by Peter Frampton....pure AWESOME!

Hello and good afternoon...or morning The issue with GameEx not showing all MAME games is due to the filter. You would have to open the Mame Advance Settings in the Setup Wizard and add the rom names (e.g. mk, mk3, etc..) into the "do not filter these roms" (lol I think it says that -- I'm away from my cab right now, but its something along those lines) After you update your list after placing the rom names you wish to include, it should show up in the list in GameEx. I hope this helps

...oh, and I just found this about how to config the lightgun to work with mame.... http://www.ultimarc.com/AimTrak%20Setup%20Guide.pdf
-
I don't know much yet on setting up a lightgun through mame, though that is one of the next things on my list becasue I'm planning on adding two lightguns. What I do know about them is: - Make sure you get the right gun for the type of monitor you have. If you have an LCD or LED, ya gotta use a gun with a sensor bar. If you have a CRT monitor, any lightgun will do without the sensor bar (this is all from what I've read about them so far lol) - I'm not sure about how to map the input config of a lightgun game to work with a mouse in MAME - though I know how to map it to the joysticks and buttons. The movement of the cursor can be configured to work with the joysticks by looking under "Lightgun X Dec", Lightgun X Inc", "Lightgun Y Dec", and "Lightgun Y Inc" in the MAME input configuration (perferbaly using "input this game only". - As for where to find them for a good price, considering your location, I would go through ultimarc. They are located in the UK and they have a lightgun from what I hear that works pretty good . Here is the link: http://www.ultimarc.com/JShopServer/section.php?xSec=7 I hope this helps any!

[RESOLVED] Using Custom CP Picture For CPWizard
thurmansevolution replied to gamepimp's topic in General
Hello Had to edit my first answer lol...too early in the morning here and didn't read your question all the way through . The format I use for my custom image of my control panel is .jpg, and it works fine that way. Also, (in case you run into this same issue), I had to scale my image down a little using basic microsoft paint in order for it to fit properly in CPWizard. Hope this helps any! -
[RESOLVED] CPWizard use with other emulators??
thurmansevolution replied to thurmansevolution's topic in General
Here are the instructions on how I set up cpwizard to make layouts for use with emulators [other than MAME] in GameEx (lol, and I apologize for any misspellings - drinking a little beer right now ) First, as a warning - if you have a lot of roms that you want to create layouts for, make sure you have some freetime - for this can be a lengthy, teedious process. ______________________________________________________________________________________________ 1. Create a folder to store your layouts in any directory you wish...for me, I have it bundled in the emulator's folder where I keep subfolders for Roms, Artwork, "emulator"...and I name it "Controls" 2. Make sure that GameEx looks at this folder by opening the Setup Wizard under "Advanced Emulator Setup" and lead the path of the control layout to the folder you created to store your layouts. 3. Open CPWizard. Select File --> New 4. Insert an image of your custom control panel, or "build" a digital layout with the image options they use for buttons, joysticks, etc. Also, when you are ready to label your buttons that you have mapped for the emulators, insert new labels and customize what letters the buttons represents....e.g. "A", "B", L1" etc... (If you also wish to add graphics of controllers, logos - these can be found under add image ) 5. After you are finished creating your layout, first click on File --> Save As and save it as an .ini to ensure that you won't lose your information. Then, click on File --> Export ---> Layout and save it as a .png in the folder you created to store your controls. 6. Minimize or close CPWizard. Open the folder you created to store your control layouts (.png). Also, open the folder that stores all the rom files that you wish to link with these layouts. Place each open folder (window) side by side, as there is going to possible be a lot of copying and pasting in the next step depending on the amount of rom files you have. Make copies of the layout (png) for as many roms as you have, or as many as you wish to link through GameEx. 7. In order for GameEx to link the layout with the rom, both rom file and layout must have the same file name! The easiest way to do this, is right click the rom, go to "rename", copy the highlighted text...then right click the layout, go to "rename", then "paste". This will ensure that both files will have the same name, also it is much quicker than manually typing in each and every name. 8. Test your hard work out by opening GameEx, then to the emulator, open a game, and sit back as the control panel layout you created will appear a little while before the game launches. This process also works for PC games you set up through emulator setup in Setup Wizard. As a final note - Please DO NOT use this process for MAME games - CPWizard does this automatically when you first set it up. This is for only OTHER emulators. If you have any questions or comments, please always feel free to send me a message. Thanks! and I hope this helps! LC -
[RESOLVED] CPWizard use with other emulators??
thurmansevolution replied to thurmansevolution's topic in General
I figured it out...took me a few days of the ole' process of elimation lol. I've already marked this as [RESOLVED], later tonight (or maybe tomorrow), I will set up instructions on here because after searching it for a few days across many websites, I've noticed that quite a few people ask around, but no one seems to want to tell them how to do it... ....like its some kind of ancient secret or something lol I just hope that it helps the ones in need of the info -
[RESOLVED] Specific mame games not showing up
thurmansevolution replied to aikido2u's topic in General
I had the same issue at one point - what I did was under Mame Setup ...or I think it's under Mame Advance Config. (lol, at work now and away from the cab), I typed the name of the rom (from Mame32) that I wished to add and typed it in the "Do not filter..." selection in the Mame Setup of GameEx Setup Wizard. And you have to separate each one with a space and a semicoln....example: mspacman; mk3; umk3; (etc..) Just refresh the romlist after that (in GameEx), and if your version of mame will play that rom, it should be added to the list. -

GameEx Artwork Trading And Requests.
thurmansevolution replied to KRC's topic in GameEx Media Projects
Hello and Good Morning/Evening/Afternoon! There are several people, software, and websites that I am very greatful to have come across (and learn from) since I started this "adventure" in building my own arcade cabinet (dub name "Box O' Awesome ) - this site, the members here, and GameEx take a big part of that pie. As a show of appriciation for all the hard work, sweat, and hours that has been put into GameEx and this forum from both Tom Speirs, as well as many other admins, moderators, and members, I would love to contribute any services that may be needed to help continue making GameEx the best front end software to date! I'm still in the process of learning as much as I can, and hopefully more, about GameEx and any troubleshooting tips. As I learn more, I will help the people who begin using this software more. And hopefully, with Tom's permission, one day I can help create software that will work hand in hand with GameEx. Until that day comes, all I can do now is request to help out with smaller issue. One thing that I have in mind is this: Emumovies is a great website, and I have to give credit where credit is due - if it wasn't for that website, I would have spent long hours manually gathering all artwork needed, making video and image snaps, etc. If anyone here has any difficulty finding or gathering any type of artwork that they need from EmuMovies, please send me a message here including the name of the game, version, platform, and rom name, and I will do my very best to find the artwork for you, or make it, and I will send it to you (as well as upload it to EmuMovies, if they will allow me to). Please let me know what you think . LC -
Contribute Services Request For Artwork
thurmansevolution replied to thurmansevolution's topic in GameEx Media Projects
Thanks KRC! I'll copy and paste it there as well @ Adultery - lol, yes, I am suggesting that I can help with finding or making artwork that is difficult to find . And I apologize if there was any misinterpretation - I will never violate any terms and conditions with EmuMovies - they are a great website and I am really greatful for them lol ...the only movies and artwork I can and will find are the ones not present on EmuMovies, and that are hard to find. This morning, I found my old "The Sims" disk and decided to install it on my cab - but had a hard time finding any snaps or other artwork for it on Emumovies. So, I just created my own, and it works perfect. Thats what I hope that I can begin with bringing to "the table" . Also, if there is a request for artwork that is not on Emumovies - after I create or find the artwork, I would like to first send the person who is requesting it the files, and then, hopefully, upload it to Emumovies, so that if there are any future requests for that specific game, I can route them to the Emumovie website .- 7 replies

[RESOLVED] Has anyone else had this problem?
thurmansevolution replied to thurmansevolution's topic in General
Hello Draco1962 I apologize for the long delays - I just returned here yesterday...for the past couple of weeks, I've been finishing moving and then, of course, cussing at the tv during the olympics lol I'm definitely thinking its a codec issue at this point...I've changed Shark007 to all the recommended settings, but it still looks like there is an issue going on with .mp4s and the screensaver. I ended up just leaving the screensaver videos as AVI and using MP4 as the video snaps in GameEx....AVIs take up a bit more space, but I have about 500 gigs to play around with lol. GO TEAM USA!! lol- 17 replies

Sorry to hear about that KRC....I hope that they find those b@#tards quick and they will be proscuted to the fullest extent of the law! I work in an investigative kinda field, and from what it sounds like (based on the items they took), it seems like they are more intersted in selling it rather than keeping it, so I would start looking through pawn shops, ebay, craigslist...any kind of store or listing that sells used items. My older brother had his apartment broken into several years ago, and the guy who broke in took the computer he built, some cash, and a few valuable items. The cops came and did their jobs, but after doing a little snooping around in the local pawn shops here, we found the items that were stolen and traced it back to my brother's neighbor. Lol, oddly enough, a week before he broke in, he asked my brother if he could help him get a job. Another thing you could try (and I only heard about this...never really tested it), is that you can contact microsoft and give them information on your laptop, and if it connects to the internet, they can come close to pinpointing the exact location of where the connection is. I hope any of this helps, and if you ever need my help, please let me know! LC

Hello to all! First off, thank you all for all the hard work so far! I have no idea where I would be at if it wasn't for all your help thus far. Now for the question, lol - I've been stuck on something for a little while, and hoping someone can answer this for me, or point me in the right direction (I've been trying to look up this information on the web, but no luck so far). CPWizard is awesome!! I have it set up for use with MAME right now, and for the past few days, I've been trying to figure out how to also set it up to use with the other emulators (N64, SNES, NES, etc) to where all games in my cab, when chosen, will display the control panel before the game launches. Is this possible? And if so, how do ya set it up? Thanks in advance!! LC

Ooops....the rom path setup is not in "Mame Setup" lol...it's in "MAME Settings" under "Rom Path/s" Its almost 2 am...need sleep
-
Welcome to the Forums! As mentioned by nullPointer (and as a user, I can really agree on this) - GameEx is really user friendly. Once ya opened the Setup Wizard, the option to select the rom folder (path) should be located in the MAME setup (Once you open the setup wizard, for me its easier to find it when you click the check box for the "MAME Setup" under the "Custom" - I usually can navigate quicker using "Custom" lol). If it helps any, this is the way I have mine set - I use MAME32 and place all my roms in the "Roms" folder that is included. Then I just tell GameEx where that rom folder is located and then let it update the list. The reason I use MAME32 is that it has somewhat of a friendly UI, and if there is any reason for me to check up on a few things, I won't have to go into DOS. I hope this helps! LC

Feature & Enhancement Requests
thurmansevolution replied to Tom Speirs's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
As a suggestion (lol, I know that maybe, it might sound a bit lame), but I would like to see an option to use the GameEx brazel for Multiple Mame versions and other emulators - more than just one version of Mame. If this happens, I will finally have my cake and eat it too! Haha -
Howdy Howdy!!! Lol, its been awhile since I last took the time to log in and browse - I've been stuck finalizing my cab before the first of a series of game nights I'm hosting...gonna have some good bbq in a few weeks. Anyway, glad to be back! For the past six days alone, I've been running through all the games, to make sure that they work and also map the non working games with a differant version of MAME. Is there a certian file from Mapping Magician that I can backup, so that I won't have to spend a good bit of time remapping anything in case something goes south? Thanks in advance! And I hope all is doing well! LC
