  1. well have got it working now.... using fe active animation in combination with launching my first animation batch file on exit of gameex works.... the ledblinky fe quit animation doesn't run forever but no big deal, using the gameex config option takes care of it. Thank you for looking into this.
  2. okay thanks... maybe that will solve all my problems then... will report back.
  3. rather than throwing everything out there i was trying to keep it simple, one thing at a time. So you're saying when gameex launches by default (regardless of settings in either program) it will stop ledblinky animation? i tried to set things up such that when gameex would launch it will stop this animation and start a second animation but could never get it to work. Tried using the GX startup option as well as the FE startup option in LedBlinky. The later option appeared to work however appeared to me you had to specifiy a time limit and not run indefinitely.
  4. I did exit gameex but after i waited for like 20 seconds or so, it was up and running at the time i exited.... it didn't "appear" to exit without me actually doing it.
  5. Tom, Yea, my bad, may not have been clear enough. That maybe okay for now as i've got arzoo (guy who developed ledblinky) looking at both sets of logs now. The short version of my situation is... when i launch GX it appears to be killing the ledblinky exe process even though i do not have any GX options set that should be causing it as well as any LB settings that should be causing it. Fresh set of logs attached in case you want to take a look. I restarted the computer, logged in, waited for the animation to start which is kicked off by a batch file inside startup folder, launched gameex, observed the animation stopping, then exited gameex. Debug.zip log.txt
  6. should have added i've been in communication with arzoo. He commented about questioning why GX was behaving the way it was... otherwise would have posted in the plugin section... sorry hope it's okay i posted this topic where i did. cooresponding gx log attached. log.txt
  7. gameex settings: nothing in launch on startup or launch on startup don't wait, ledblinky plugin is checked, ledblinky settings: light game controls is checked, light player start and coin buttons is checked, FE start-up animation has nothing in this field or anything else related to FE for that matter, Light GameEx Controls is NOT checked. ledblinky debug.log attached. situation: prior to launching gameex a simple animation ledblinky routine is running, after launching gameex the animation ends. question: why? Debug.log
  8. hey, getting ready to post another topic and want to please the powers to be.... you can mark this topic as resolved.... can i do this?
  9. Hey guys... i'm in good shape for now. The one thing i did different this time is not copying over the gameex.ini file but rather going through it all one by one and configuring. The file winds up half the size from what i had before. I suspect all my issues were with a bad gameex.ini file... after many years of just hanging on to this file to save time.... don't know but that's my guess? Recently finished building a pedestal style rig and anxious to get er done. it's quite a project with 2 wheel/spinner, 2 push/pull/spinners, 3 sticks, 2 pot pedals, guns, etc... and quickly realized the mame version i was on wouldn't work due to the device ID issues addressed in later builds.. otherwise never would have updated in the first place... bottom line my goal is to make it stable and working the way i want it, then never tinker with again. Anyway, thanks for taking the time at responding.
  10. the update list not showing up issue would happen after certain events.... sorry i've done this so many times that i really can't pinpoint when it starts happening i can run the games from both the ui and command, that said i realized this morning i failed to do some key things which are get all the rom update packs since 175 and the whole clrmamepro procedure including rebuilding.... so have solved this. therefore all roms are up to date which is 192. I've also replaced the mameinfo.dat generated by gx with the 192 version as well as catver.ini and nplayers.ini i'm full admin with full rights to all folders/files all paths are correct don't have it installed twice okay, all this said, i'm starting all over and taking things in baby steps with the hopes of figuring out the root problem... as of right now i've got a fresh install of 14.82 (sorry, for now i want to see if i can avoid paying again) , haven't added any plugins or custom menus, stuff of that nature.... i'm also not just replacing the main gx ini file and going through all settings and adjusting one by one. I will post progress soon. thank you very much!
  11. so i don't see any cache files in the root folder but do see them in DATA and other areas.... does this tell us something then?
  12. Sorry forgot, here ya go. Theme.ini
  13. Yes, i've disabled the custom menu is what i meant. I don't know what cache files you speak of... please enlighten me. What do you think this means? I've also done as you've said to turn off touch screen stuff, didn't even realize it was on. thanks.
  14. using 192 executable came from the official site i used clmamepro scan operation to update the roms from 175 i've got the matching mameinfo.dat file now trying gameex 15.31 (latest) i am using the default menu.ini presently cannot get the update list to show up and also shows all clones also worth noting i can play any game just fine from the mameui and it does allow me to hide all cones
  15. yep, well "if" it turns out my problem is my last paid version of gameex isn't compatible with the version of mame i'm using now then i'll buck up for a third time... i only updated mame due to the issue with not being able to establish mapping multiple controls in the cfg using the ID technique, apparently 175/176 was right before they improved upon this. Guess i could go with mame 181 which it appears shows up by default in mameinfo file geenrated with gx 14.82 if that will work, but at this point i've been going round and round and given i'm now trying 15.31 (non-paid version) with the mame i have and it still has problems, i'm going to wait trying anything else until somebody can tell what's going on. Got to be something simple and shouldn't be this difficult, hope you or Tom can look at my files and give me something to go on. thanks.
  16. my last comment was "installed latest and greatest"... the logs most recently attached should have shown that i was on 15.31.
  17. just installed the latest and greatest gx and still no update list available even after modifying settings in mame. also clones still show up as well. At this point i'm dead in water, have spent countless hours on this going around in circles. Tom, please, are you out there... need help! CustomMenu.ini GameEx.ini log.txt
  18. uninstalled 14.83 and reinstalled 14.82... now have the update list again however still shows every mame game eventhough have clones turned off.... going in circles here.
  19. no dice... still trying update list? does nothing, log and config attached. log.txt GameEx.ini
  20. nevermind found one online and some other dat files for 0192.... now i guess i'm understanding that because i used my prior dat files from 0175 to rebuild/scan using cmpro this could be the cause of some of my issues.... maybe? anyway, going to rebuild/scan my mame with the correct dat files and see if i can get any farther.
  21. potential dumb question.. have looked online and can only find even more recent versions of the mameinfo.dat file.... how does one get this file and/or make this file for their particular version? fresh install of 14.83 since i believe this was the last version i could run with my paid sub.
  22. batting zero here... just uninstalled gx again, deleted all folders, fresh install, copied over the config file and some bare essential stuff... now when i do update list nothing happens.... losing my mind.
  23. after several more efforts finally just undid all customization temporarily in order to see the update list. Now that i have my customization back am seeing a new issue which addresses your question regarding "do any mame games show up there" (inside "all video games")... yes ALL do however so do ALL clones eventhough i have gx set to NOT show clones.. have run a couple more update lists but this problem still is hanging around... should i start a new thread or can you assist with this? I did as you suggested temporarily switch those options on then back off as well but didn't help. when you say "rebuild the game list"... is this something different than "update list"? is there a sure fire way to just clear everything related to what shows up in games and rebuild/update list?.. maybe involving deleting a bunch of files? might be worth mentioning this as well... was on mame 175 and went to 192... i'm running gx 14.82 and see that the mame version inside the mameinfo.dat only goes to 181... bottom line, can you run into a problem with updating mame and not gx? i was a paid member for a while and i believe this version of gx i have is the latest "paid" version i can use. thank you.
  24. thanks... not sure what's going but it appears what i was actually doing was reading from a custom list i created and later started adding and deleting inside gx... after about 3 update lists my favs came back. Guess you can mark this post as resolved.
  25. i recently reinstalled gx and now for the life of me cannot find all the favorite mame games i setup using the built in functionality.... is this information stored somewhere i could get it back? I've got copies of everything before i did this. now when i go to favorites there is nothing in there.... i hate the thought of having to do this all over again.
