  1. I am by no means any kind of expert, but graphic settings are graphic settings by and large. For VP9, in the Video Options, tick "Enable Quality FXAA" under Video Mode, in Ball Renderings tick all of the boxes. Tick the box for "Force Anisotropic Texture Filtering (quality). Tick "Unlimited" for Max Texture Dimension. Finally move the slider all the way to the right for "Alpha Ramp Accuracy (decrease=performance). For VPX, in the video options, set FXAA (post-processed Anti-Aliasing) to Quality. Tick the boxes for "Reflect Ball on Playfield" and "Ball Trails/Motion Blur". Enable Ambient Occlusion and Update in-game (quality). In Performance and Troubleshooting tick the box for "Force Anisotropic Texture Filtering". Tick "Unlimited" for Max Texture Dimension. Finally move the slider all the way to the right for "Elements Detail Level (decrease=performance)" That should get you where you want to be quality wise. I hope you're able to fix your monitor problem. Draco is on to something in his last post.
  2. With your rig, you can probably set everything to the highest settings, or close to, and call it good. I'm not home right now, so I can't tell you exactly what all the settings are (AA filtering and whatnot).
  3. I'm thinking you should be able to get it working, unless it's something to do with how Zeb's board works. I'm using an iPAC board on my setup. Holding down the Player 1 button, which normally registers as "1" is shift and then I hit the Player 2 button for the "escape" key. This is probably a dumb question, but do you have "!" set as your escape key in the setup?
  4. Glad to see you got it sorted out. Thank you for posting your solution.
  5. Pinball X works for both desktop and full screen. Please post your pinballx.ini and log.txt files as well. The process is explained HERE.
  6. Win10 for 10 bucks? All of our computers at home are running 10 with the exception of one that we're using for Windows Media Center. It's a really good OS...and you'll have DirectX 12 support with it should you need it in the future.
  7. Newegg has a Gigabyte GTX 1060 for $275 shipped. It has two DVI outs, one HDMI, and one display port. That may make it easier when you go to connect 3 screens. They also have a few more choices in your price range.
  8. You're only going to be pulling about 300 watts so 500 watts is enough. The Corasir is a better unit and it's modular so you can eliminate some cable clutter which is always nice for air flow.
  9. This link explains the changes a bit as well.
  10. Upon further inspection it was Ballistix, not the Ballistix Sport series. At any rate, Crucial is is a good brand. They're one of the few companies that make their own PCBs and supply their own (through parent company Micron) RAM chips. But RAM is RAM for the most part. I've even used Microcenter branded RAM for a dirt cheap build I did for a co-worker. That's still chugging along 4 years down the road with no problems. There's only like 4 companies that make the actual chips. The PCBs are where quality issues pop up.
  11. If it were me, driving 3 screens, I would get at least a GTX 960, which is about $200. For an extra $55 after the $25 in store coupon for a GTX 1060 you get 6GB of video RAM as opposed to 2GB, lower power consumption, and performance comparable to a GTX 980 which still goes for $380. It's a slippery slope though. You spend a bit more here, and a bit more there, and the next thing you know you've blown your budget.
  12. I just got an email today that Microcenter is offering an additional $25 off video cards $239.99 and up when purchased with an i5 6600K, so you can save a few more bucks.
  13. Hey gang, In order to give back a little bit I've sampled some of the Launch Audio files I am missing. I have quite a few more to do, but it's a start. They've been uploaded to the FTP. You can find them at: PinballX/Other Uploads/Kustom Kid/Media/Visual Pinball/Launch Audio Here's what's been uploaded so far: I also noticed a few typos after I uploaded them (Gottlieb missing a t, IndependAnce day instead of IndependEnce day) but I can't change them now. Either way, they're there for the taking. Hopefully I'll have more up later on. Thanks again for getting the ball rolling on this project!
  14. Happy late birthday, fReq.
  15. That looks aces, @aldub516. That will do nicely. I'm running a factory overclocked GTX 960 at the moment and it runs everything well with the settings dialed up for VP9, VPX, PBFX2. I would suggest getting a GTX 1060 as it's comparable to the high-end graphics cards from the last generation for considerably less. As for RAM, unless you plan on overclocking you won't need anything above 2133. To be honest I've run with the least expensive name brand RAM, more often than not Crucial Ballistix Sport, for the last 4 PCs I've built and I've had good success with that.
  16. I think it's just the time of year when it slows down. Dolphin just had a HUGE release a month or so ago, CEMU is emulating "current gen" hardware *granted it's the WiiU*, MAME is still chugging along with regular incremental releases. I think there was a plateau a while back with a good chunk of emulators, and development slowed down because there just wasn't much left to do.
  17. That happened to me with MameUIFX. I wasn't able to "fix it" properly. What I ended up doing was clicking the "OK" button, or whatever, for the windows that popped up. It eventually fixes itself. I don't know the how's and why's of it, but it works. This is assuming you're talking about vanilla GameEx, and not Evolution. Evolution worked fine without any problems.
  18. You could also use Adultery's fantastic launcher program Launcher X. It will do basically the same as the batch file, but it also offers a few different options.
  19. @aldub516 You said you live near a Microcenter. The metro Detroit one is having a huge clearance blowout sale right now. You might be able to find some good open box sales. Don't forget the processor (I would also recommend the i5)/motherboard bundle saves you $30, and that's applicable to open box motherboards as well. You get a percentage off RAM when you buy a motherboard, too so that's another few bucks saved. They price match, so on the off chance they aren't cheaper than Newegg, Tiger Direct, B&H Photo, they'll match the price. For my emulation PC I was able to get an "open box" case for half off. They're weren't even any finger prints on it, the outer box was simply opened and damaged. My open box motherboard was $20 off because the bundled SATA cables and driver disc were missing, and I was still able to get the $30 off for bundling the CPU, plus a mail in rebate of another $20 off. So in effect I got my mobo for $30. They price matched Newegg's price on the CPU cooler which saved me $5 and that had a $10 mail in rebate as well. I purchased the rest of the items from Amazon, but if you do a bit of homework you can save a ton of money at Microcenter.
  20. Yeah. It's a gray area. Well Admins, good sirs, we'll leave it at I have the files, and it's a good game.
  21. If I remember correctly a lot of people use Samsung 42" (or 40" I can't remember exactly) TVs with good success. Most people decased them. Check the VP forums for build ideas. I have a cheapie Westinghouse 40" that I use for GameEx and PinballX (desktop mode). It looks great, but gives off a humming noise when VP9 or VPX goes over 200 FPS. I ended up turning VSync on and the humming stopped. I have a 24" AOC LCD monitor that I'm using as a second display for marquees with GameEx and backglass for PinballX that's been working great. I know that isn't exactly what you plan on doing, but the takeaway here, I think, is that you can go cheap on the backglass, but not necessarily on the playfield.
  22. There's a torrent floating around as well. The file is small enough, I could put it up on Dropbox if I can share it here for people.
  23. AM2R version 1.0 has been released to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original Metroid. It's a stand alone exe. Works with a keyboard (or keyboard encoder) or a controller (I used an Xbox 360 controller). It's a mostly faithful remake of Metroid 2: Return of Samus in the style of Metroid: Zero Mission. A great remake of a great game a lot of people may have missed. I remember playing the rom of this years ago. Check it out before Nintendo sends out the C and D letter.
  24. Sorry. I missed the FCM part.
