  1. I'm mostly using the 16:9 bezels made by krakerman and a few others. Priority is given to ones with game instructions on them, then original artwork, and then whatever I think looks good. The John Merritt ones are really sweet with the cab sides and the scratched up plexiglass over the screen, but that would eventually drive me bananas.
  2. The retro scene is so much better across the pond. Damn near everything I have outside of the actual computer (software, media, buttons, joysticks, keyboard encoder, etc.) comes from the UK.
  3. Yes, they are the ones used in the cabinets. I used to use the authentic bezels cropped, but after researching the bezels for you, I've decided to change it up. Thank you for that. (This is simplified, and to my understanding correct. If it's not someone please correct me.) Correct. The original aspect for most games are 4:3 or 3:4 (monitor turned on its side). Pixel aspect displays perfectly square pixels, like we have today on modern LCD screens. CRT monitor "pixels" were rectangular, so the image produced by the game had square pixels, but they were squished into rectangular "pixels" on the display.
  4. Alright. So I checked Emumovies' bezels in the Official folder. Those appear to be the basic run of the mill 4:3 bezels where you will incur significant screen size loss unless you crop them. In which case you'll lose some bezel. They are accurate bezels though, so if you're going for authenticity those are the ones for you. If you use the FTP for Emumovies and go to the "Upload Here" then to "_MAME bezels" you'll find the mother lode of bezels. They're in the proper .zip format with multiple choices. They have the authentic bezel, 4x3 bezels (sometimes multiples), 16x9 bezels (sometimes multiples), instruction cards, etc. @Krakerman even has some of his amazing bezels in there. I only checked 10 Yard Fight, Mortal Kombat II and Street Fighter Alpha 2, but they looked good, and will get you a bezel to fill your monitor with the least amount of game screen loss but they're not necessarily authentic.
  5. I'll have to take a look at the Emumovie bezels. I don't even remember where I got my bezels from, but they weren't from Emumovies surprisingly.
  6. They do go all around the game screen area for the most part. That's why you'll want to crop them. If you have your screen in portrait orientation you can get more on the top and bottom, including instruction cards, and less on the sides. Personally I have a 16:9 TV, so I get a little on the sides, not much, if anything, on the top, and instruction cards, if available, on the bottom. You're going to lose screen size when using bezels. That's the nature of the beast. Unless you have a gigantic monitor you'll have to find what works best for you visually.
  7. No problem. It is easier than one would think, but it can still be difficult if you don't have anything to start with. It took me a while to figure out how to get everything setup properly. Let me know if you have any further issues.
  8. I'll give it a go. 1.) Place bezels in your "artwork" folder in your MAME directory. Make sure they are .zip files and match the name of the corresponding rom. 2.) In the GameEx Setup Wizard on the "MAME Settings" page under the "Advance MAME Settings" for the "Use Bezel" option select "Don't Use Bezel". (This is to use the GameEx bezel, not game specific ones through MAME. 3.) When you run MAME if the game has a bezel it should load automagically. If it's not shown hit the "TAB" key to open the options menu. Scroll down to "Video Options" and make sure Bezels are Enabled. To adjust the amount of bezel that's shown scroll down to "View" and change it to your liking. I have Cropped selected for most of my games. There might be a way to make the default setting "Cropped", but I just went through and changed the option on a game by game basis as they were loaded up for the first time. 3A.) There is an option to crop artwork from the get go. Open MAME. Go to "Configure Options" then "Advanced Options." Under "Artwork Options" go to "Artwork Crop" and turn it ON.
  9. The overlay was the problem. I must have turned it off at some point. Thanks Tom.
  10. Greetings and salutations. When I launch a Steam game I have one of two things happen 1 minute after launch. The game either loses focus and I'm returned back to GameEx (Axiom Verge) or GameEx itself crashes (Transformers Devastation, Sonic All Star Racing, Ultra Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter x Tekken). When GameEx crashes it doesn't take the focus away from the game, but I obviously can't go back to GameEx once I'm finished with the game. I ran a few different games for testing purposes. The logs from said games are attached with their shortened names before "log.txt." I can also test other games if you'd like. Thank you all in advance. 11. If you're having a rough go getting files though the downloader look at what the media files are named on Emumovies and change the name of your roms accordingly. I was having a fit after ripping my PSX and PS2 games and then getting the proper media files until I figured that little trick out. Most of the time it works, but sometimes the file names need a bit of tweaking.
  12. Use the artwork downloader Tom made to work with Emumovies. They are available that way for sure as that's how I got mine.
  13. Never underestimate my mother's need to buy stuff for her kids. She scored a Wii with two Wiimotes and nunchucks, a Wii Fit balance board, PlayStation 1 with 1 controller and all the wires, an original NES controller, an older wireless PC controller, and 6 total PSX and PS2 games. All for $10! Pictured are the two things I'm most excited about.
  14. Truth. It's much easier to just make sure your romset matches your MAME version and call it good.
  15. Do you have the corresponding CHD file for the ROM?
  16. Dude. That's the stuff right there. Thank you, Tom.
  17. Could I amend that to say also add the option to display logo files in grid view? As it stands currently, in grid view, all games have the Steam logo displayed.
  18. Oh man. I remember playing the crap out of this game back in the day. It was at the hockey rink where I'd go watch my friends play because my parents wouldn't pay for us to play hockey. I'd live vicariously though them on the ice and play Zaxxon between periods. I might have to jump in on this one.
  19. If I recall correctly, it will remove the nag screen permanently unless you update GameEx after the year is up. If you update after the year the nag screen will return.
  20. The wheel isn't my cup of tea. It looks good though. I did take it for a spin, pun intended, but it just didn't look right on my setup. Thanks for the update, and for continuously adding new features.
  21. @Draco1962 I'm using Stigzler's Marquee Masher for the second monitor. That will eventually find it's way above the main monitor, but I'm anticipating moving soon, and I don't want to patch any more holes in the walls than I have to.
  22. Thanks, RedDog. The theme is Pure GameEx by vsilvaslopes. All of the media came via EmuMovies. It took some futzing around to finally find a layout that I liked.
