  1. It's always an awesome site to see when you revisit one of your earlier plugins Adultery! Thanks for giving us an awesome update man!
  2. Technically we get 10 per year, but in reality it all depends on where you work. Some folks get all of those off and then some, others get none of them off (like those poor saps that have to report to work at 6PM on Thanksgiving to kick off the "Black Friday Doorbusters" ... Ugh). Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Over here at casa del null I'm gonna be soaking the bird in a maple bourbon brine tonight and then smokin that sumbitch tomorrow. Mmm ... maple bourbon.
  3. Awesome suggestions guys! I asked in jest, but I really am on the fence. The old PC was named partly due to the appearance of the old case, so I really am thinking I'll rename it. Interestingly enough I was starting up Assassin's Creed: Revelations when the PSU died in dramtic fashion. I'm sure it's only a loose correlation, but the old PSU really did go up within a split second of starting up the game. The new case is colored white and black with red (and white) accent LEDs on the case fans. Although I've always thought white cases look sorta snazzy, it's not likely it would have been my first choice if not for the sale price. But based on the serendipitous color scheme, and the fact that the PC was "assassinated" by the venerable assassin himself, I'm thinking the (kinda, sorta) new(ish) build will be called Ezio.
  4. So we've talked from time to time about naming our computers. It's a time honored tradition and as such we give our computers thoughtful names reflecting our adoration (or disdain) for each individual machine. Recently the PSU in my main gaming computer gave up the ghost and fizzled spectacularly with a loud farting noise and a cloud of pungent electric ozone. "No problem, and most importantly don't panic" I told myself. After a quick trip to Amazon, a new 850W PSU was winging it's way to me. Fast forward a couple of days and well ... the new PSU won't fit in my case. (The backstory here is that my current "gaming computer" was originally intended for life as an HTPC at one point. Finally I stopped kidding myself, slapped a laptop under the TV as an HTPC, and the former "HTPC project" graduated to becoming my full time gaming PC. To make the long story a bit longer, it's a mATX form factor in a rather diminutive case ... and there's no way this new PSU will fit). As luck would have it, the very next day Amazon was running a Gold Box special on Corsair components including the new Graphite 600T case that is being shipped to me as I write this. So here's the important question ... the guts of my computer will remain largely unchanged, but the outside will be radically altered, moving from a mAtx cube to a mid-tower. So is it appropriate to rename my computer at this juncture? Discuss.
  5. Hi Novalak and Welcome! Adultery mentioned his suspicion that this might be related to a well known CarnEvil bug. When you get a sec would you let us know the last game that currently appears in your MAME list (All Games)? Thanks!
  6. The funniest part about this is that in real life it turns out that C-3P0 was a much bigger dick to R2-D2 (and and quite a few others on set as well).
  7. Happy Birthday Celly! I don't know if you realize this, but you share your birthday with the B-2 Stealth bomber. Here's hoping that you've just been flying in stealth mode lately and haven't given up on the forums for good!
  8. Hi osujd, I just wanted to let you know that I moved your thread into the PinballX-General forum from the GameEx-General forum. Just a little forum housekeeping, and no big deal at all, but do try to be aware of what forum you're posting to. Thanks man!
  9. My take on it is this; in the Star Wars universe droids aren't really considered "special little beautiful and unique snowflakes," they're tools, production assembly models. I think the associated characters wouldn't recognize a specific R2 droid any more than one of us would recognize one specific iPhone from another. I'm also with Han here, I think it's well within the realm of possibility that R2 and C-3PO had their memories wiped following the events in Episode 3. They simply knew too much, and their data could prove extremely dangerous for Luke, Leia, and any Jedi remaining in hiding. If I were Bail Organa in charge of a newly adopted daughter as well as some freshly acquired droids who had, "seen some stuff, man" you bet I would have their memories wiped in order to protect my family (heh ... for all the good it did him, I guess) Wookiepedia somewhat confirms this, although interestingly enough makes no mention of R2 (but I mean come on, why would you do one without the other right?) Edit: Kustom Kid has surely hit on the actual reason for this plot hole, but it's always fun to let the geek flag fly and get into some canonical minutiae!
  10. Also FWIW FileZilla will allow you to create bookmarks for your favorite FTP hosts. You never have to worry about fat fingering again!
  11. Happy Birthday to a good friend and confidant! Have a day filled with laughter and light.
  12. This is pretty much my perspective as well. It's one of those games that is amazingly significant from a historical perspective, but it's vision was well beyond what was technologically achievable at the time. The characters, the aesthetic, and the animation are top notch though. Really I think the goal of this Kickstarter was already partially accomplished when Digital Leisure introduced "Watch Mode" to the DVD versions of the game in which you can simply sit back and watch the game as an animated movie with no game play input required.
  13. Cool app Stigz! Looks really interesting, and it's really awesome that it interfaces with the GameEx databases. Bang-up job. You're quite the busy worker bee lately!

    Question

Pretty much any PlayStation emulator that works with a virtual drive (such as DaemonTools) will also work with a physical drive. Various emulators have different ways of dealing with this for the command line. In ePSXe for instance you simply configure your CD-ROM plugin to point to your desired drive by default.
  15. I was totally just tossing you a little guff there. In truth there are no spoilers for this movie yet since it's all just a bunch of speculation and I'm sure we all have our own little pet theories. [emoji6]
  16. Due to overlapping functionality with MAME, this is not an emulator that I currently run. Having said that, the black bars issue you describe is almost always related to video settings within the emulator itself. I would take a look a look at the Video menu in WinKawaks and look for any settings related to Resolution or Aspect Ratio to see if there's something that needs to be tweaked. Good luck Alan!
  17. Hi Alan, Thanks for supplying your support files. It really does make a big difference! Being that this particular issue involves the Xpadder plugin I would also request that you post the log for the Xpadder plugin which can be found here: \GameEx\PLUGINS\Xpadder\Xpadder.log. Thanks a lot!
  18. Hi r3born, and Welcome to the GameEx forums! Yes MAME videos should display on every menu level, so it's probably just a setting that was inadvertently tweaked. Is this a new GameEx installation, or did you upgrade OS on an existing installation (like jumping on Windows 10 for instance)? Is it just the main menu that isn't displaying videos (or put another way do the videos display when your browsing the game list)? Is the problem strictly relegated to MAME or is it happening for all emulators? When or if you have a moment it would probably be helpful to take a look at your GameEx.ini and your log.txt files so we can see if there are issues with your settings. or whether there are other factors contributing to the issue. Please refer to the GameEx: How to Ask For Help thread for details on how to access those files. Also please take the opportunity to read through that thread in its entirety as it's chalk full of good troubleshooting advice. Thanks man!
  19. In order to download media from the FTP, you'll need to install an FTP client. FileZilla is my personal favorite and a regular community recommendation. Once you have a client installed, you can use the information tthurman posted above to connect.
  20. That looks fantastic! Great work. I know a certain someone who's going to be happier than a kid on Christmas morning.
  21. Once you rename your ROMs the artwork downloader will automatically populate your artwork directories with accordingly named files. But I digress. Let's take a look at your log (and possibly your GameEx.ini) to see if it provides any reasonable explanation of what's happening here.
  22. Glad to hear that it all worked out for you in the end! Happy gaming Alan!
  23. Great catch ShadowHunter! Yeah it's definitely not the first time that enabling touchscreen support on a desktop machine has caused GameEx to act in an unexpected fashion (which is to say that it's by design, but it can definitely catch you off guard if you're not expecting it). It's something that happens just infrequently enough that I forget to look for it in the posted GameEx,ini. Thanks for posting back and sharing your findings!
