  1. Does this also send chills down some of your spines? ^^

  2. Just out of interest, have you tried the good old 32bit version instead? I know i've used it in the past with no problems, and to be honest the gains you'll get running the 64bit version won't be noticable to any human. That's the paradox of a good emulator - it will run the best it can to the limitations of older hardware
  3. Hi there, I too am not runnning this emu currently, but something is standing out to me in your Emu Config - in the command (highlighted in red): Command=snes9x-x64.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" -fullscreen The dash (-) in your executable might be causing problems. You can try rename your snex9x executable excluding the dash, to something like snes9x64.exe for example and then changing your emu command to: Command=snes9x64.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" -fullscreen I think that for a while now GameEx automatically "double quotes" the entire command which would make this change ineffective - but hey, i like people to have options just in case
  4. I tend to use old song titles, like Major Tom and Silver Machine but either way, new psu and new case it has to mean something... i myself would probably call it something totally unimaginitve like Ironman "I.. am.. Ironman.."
  5. Just to throw this out there, it might actually be a Theme issue - some themes have the weather mod, some don't. Might be worth considering
  6. I feel this is a cache issue. Go to ...\GameEx\DATA Delete all files that have the extension: .dbcacheini .cache Boot GameEx. It may take a little longer than usuall this once, but your changes will be applied I think you're right Adultery, but i'm assuming OP got mixed up for now
  7. Yes, also i notice all your support files are kept as default- this is ringing alarm bells. Most of the time, you will need to match these files with your MAME version. It's not a requirement, but it's definitely good practice to do so. The main files, of which i am concerned are of course: mameinfo.dat history.dat These two files atleast should match your MAME version, and they both will have an impact on the GameEx Database/List. If you can match these two files with your version of MAME, you will get a much more accurate list Other files to match, that will expand the DB further are: Catver.ini nplayers.ini And to a lesser extent: Command.dat All of these files will enhance your GameEx experience beyond what you might imagine, but mostly (atleast the first two) they should match your MAME version. As tthurman said though, once you have these files, do a manual update ;-)
  8. This is the thing, i too feel you have everything setup right, as far as any of us would advise, BUT, what we can't see are your roms. (don't show us!) Take a look at them (your roms, romsets) - are there illegal characters amongst them?? Just one bad rom can mess up the whole process. Remove the bad rom/roms and try again. A good example is the "CarnEvil" bug. It's been a "bad" rom for some time, (only because someone put an illegal character in it's description) but once aware just remove it and everything is fine You may be experiencing something similar.
  9. If not (Raptr is known to cause this), this is screaming permissions at me I may be wrong, but i have an unshakable feeling... Admin, permissions, UAC...
  10. I think we got a hungry player here folks, and i'll be damned if he ain't number one real soon Damn you are owning this! MO will be first soon - i'll bet my life on it
  11. This is true. The reason Theme.ini's override default GameEx settings is because most (non-default) themes are designed for a specific purpose, and need to have certain things placed in certain ways regardless of user config, to make the theme work. If not, the themes could "break". To give you a really simple example: You design a theme where the clock is in the top right, but you design this theme assuming everyone is using the 24 hour clock (because this is what YOU are using). You spend days/weeks, may be even months perfecting your theme, only to realize that anyone using the 12 hour clock has it in completely the wrong place! The "AM" or "PM" is offscreen or obscured! What do you do? Do you start again from the beginning? Or do you force anyone that uses your Theme into 24 hour mode? I know what i would do This is a simplified problem, but hopefully it demonstrates why Theme creators might want to override your settings Likewise if a Theme is meant to be media intensive, it will probobaly override your own settings to make it consistent and cohesive, and true for the opposite - if you load a Theme that is designed to be gaming only, then much of the media aspects of GameEx might be disabled. Pretty much every aspect of GameEx can be influenced or manipulated by a well made Theme.ini
  12. You can actually do this but it takes some work, and it will only be on a theme basis. Meaning it will only work on the theme you choose to edit. You'll need to load the theme you want this to apply to in the Theme Editor. Then go to Edit> Options. Select the Settings Tab, and check (put a tick in) "Custom Emulator Layouts" and "Custom Module Layouts", then choose File> Save As... Now you can choose individual backgrounds AND layouts per system, using the Object Browser (on your left). Zero Dreams' method is perfectly valid though. if all you want is to replace the default images, as mentioned though, there are shortcomings My way you can have your images untouched but it takes some dedication, Zero's way is quicker and less involved but sacrifices some functionality for ease of use. Both methods are equally valid. Choose your poison Just kidding
  13. Yup! One of the most powerful features of GameEx. And just to toot my own horn: take a look
  14. Yes, so it does it at theme load. If you notice, it caches things like fonts, which could potentially take forever if you have hundrends of fonts. Just load any program for the first time that uses fonts (GIMP for example, after adding just one new font) and it will take significantly longer to load. The cache files i believe are intended to reduce crazy load times...
  15. I could be wrong, but i believe these thumbs are created for very slow systems (seeing as GX is still compatible with very low specs) so that it doesn't grind everything to a halt when using such a system. It will display these "pre-generated" thumbs first, then load the real ones in the background. Otherwise slower systems might take 5mins or more to boot. It's just speculation, but i've always attributed these thumbs to that reason. It makes a lot of sense if you think about it because GX continually supports much lower specs than most other programs out there.
  16. Yah, i find it strange that it wasn't called xpadder.exe in the first place - i've been using the same version for some time though so may be the dev has started putting the version number in the program title, seeing as there is no easy way to find this info within the program itself - that i have found anyway.
  17. Thanks y'all! Yup, soon i can officially have a breakdown without anyone batting an eyelid Truthfully, i just wing-it most of the time Did that you knows it! Bah, you make the best plugins (IMO) so naturally i want them to work Here's to the next year of GX and what it may bring
  18. It is yes, especially if you don't follow instructions. So, step by step: Go to Xpadder.exe Make it W7 compatible Load/boot Xpadder.exe after you have made the changes (outside of GameEx or Config). Choose "Yes" to associate ALL files. Reboot your PC (not necessary, but to make sure). Load the Plugin Manager. Load the Xpadder Plugin Config. If you have a backup, the XP Plugin will now show all profiles associated with all the games that it should. If you don't have a backup, now is the time you need to do it again. Close the config, boot GameEx. I've played with this enough, that i KNOW if you do these steps, the Xpadder Plugin will work fine.
  19. Moved to correct forum (PinballX). Please take note of where you're posting - you'll get much better support if you post in the correct forum
  20. This is actually normal behavior because of how the MAME module has evolved over many years within GameEx. The "regular" emulators in GameEx have one level or tier of info, it's Emulator> Gamelist> Vids. But MAME has two (at least): MAME> MAME Categories> Gamelist> Vids. Because of this it doesn't act in the same way as regular emulators (which is why no vid is displayed in the menu). However, you can get around this! You can force a vid to be displayed in the menu, but it won't be random. You can make it seem random however by joining/splicing different vid snaps together. All you have to do is make a vid of the MAME games you want to appear on the main menu, then, name it MAME.mp4, or whatever your video format is. So if it is a .FLV you should name it "MAME.flv", if it's an .AVI then name it "MAME.avi" etc. Then you need to place it in the right location. It helps to know which Theme you are using at this point! Once you do, go here: ...\GameEx\THEMES\<the theme you are using>\MEDIA\LOGOS Put your vid in this folder/directory and you now have a working MAME vid in your menu
  21. I should have stated earlier, that once you have Xpadder in W7 Compatibility Mode, you need to load Xpadder on its own, outside of GameEx at least once. While doing this make sure you choose to "associate" all files. If you do not do this, Xpadder will be in a constant cycle of "setting itself up" in W10, or in other words it will behave as if loading for the first time, EVERYTIME!. This will, inevitably cause havok with the Xpadder Plugin I've played with this on two different W10 installs - W10 Pro 64 on my Desktop, and W10 Home 64 on my laptop. Both systems run flawlessy (the Xpadder Plugin) after applying this method.
  22. I think i know what you are getting at here, tell me if i am wrong but seriously i won't bite. When you scroll the menu, a random vid will play correct? So if you you scroll over SNES you might get Street Fighter, if you scroll over Genesis you might get a sonic vid, if scrolling over Gameboy you might get Tetris, but when scrolling over MAME in that same menu you are not getting any vids playing. Is that about right?
  23. This won't help Adultery troubleshoot. or, maybe it will, but go to your Xpadder.exe, right-click, choose Properties> Compatibility tab, check (put a tick in it) Compatibility Mode> Run this program in compatibility mode for: (click the drop-down) choose Windows 7, click Apply. I've messed with this a lot (running W10 Pro 64) - the Xpadder Plugin will work afterwards, just make sure GameEx or the config App are not loaded/running while you make the above alterations.
  24. I wasn't upset at all! My wodding might need some wok There was a message i intended there but it may have come across a bit wrong. I should just be quiet huh
  25. Vote for my sacking, and i mean it, but Tom and Staff have given ample warnings, promotions, deals... pretty much anything anyone can do to keep the peace. What more do you guys want? Apart from working completely free to satisfy you guys, there isn't much more that can be done. Remember, most of the staff here work for free, it isn't a job, it isn't a career - we do it coz we love it. It's a software unlike any other. We know this. This is why we are here, and why we stick around, and why we will, till the end of time.
