Someone will need to take a look at your .ini coz this is not normally a problem. Either you installed to a non default directory, or you do not have permissions in the default directory.

Hey pixmanvegas Are you using a separate MAME install for GameEx? IE is it different from the Evo install? The Evo install is very specific, where as the GX install is not. If you are using ONE MAME between them both, you will get conflicts, coz they will both try to overight the same files. If running both ori GameEx AND Evo i would recommend keeping them entirely separate, including your entire MAME setup, that will include the MAME.exe, the roms, the .dats etc. Make two copies of everything MAME if you're running both GameEx AND GameEx Evo.

Evolution is, "as is" at the moment, it doesn't have the same support that GameEx has, being that it is unreleased. If you have a "clue" you can get it working quite well, but you must know that you will have to already know how to run things to get the most out of it.

Your paths look ok but i did notice you do have some network paths in there ie the double "\\". Have you reset the server since install, and does it have the right permissions? Remember GameEx needs full access to operate correctly.

@Mike and friends, it's these things that make you a soldier, a knight, a force to be reckoned with. You wouldn't be as strong as you are without them. They knock you down, and build you up again, each time reinforcing your resolve. This is what makes you, this is what separates you from the humdrum, this is what makes you special. Don't you forget it.

To let you know, just install Evo, let it do it's thing (download the MAME pack, double click it and let it install) and you'll have the most comprehensive MAME setup, with the best DB's available PS: it takes up quite some space, so make sure you have that available

Do you use Xpadder/Pinnacle or any other mapping software? Not saying it is the culprit, but if you use one it should be considered

Not seen the beta just yet, but isn't the cheat file enabled by command? If all previous versions of GameEx are a trend, then it's just commands just realised i might have given out too much info. Commands, they are your friend

lol you should check out Stigz app. There might be a conflict here, between the Steam stream and the GameEx Stream. They both are flawless on their own, but together???

I personally, think that "Verify" should be removed from GameEx altogether. Not even have it as an option/feature. I could go off on a tangent here as to WHY, but i think most you know the reason.

Also, just so it is clear. GameEx Light, Arcade, and all other derivatives have different rules and circumstances to the original/pure GameEx A giant red oval should though make things a little clearer
