Wait a sec... Your emulators each show all ROMs instead of for just that emulator? It shouldn't do that... Well, unless your ROMs are all mixed together or you keep them all in one master folder and point GameEx at that and set it to scan subfolders... It sets the list up according to the folder it's pointed to. Example: I have one folder called ROMS. Then inside that I have several folders: MAME ROMS, SNES ROMS, ETC. Inside GameEx settings I point it at the folder for that system, like this: C:/ROMS/SNES ROMS Then the SNES emulator only shows SNES ROMs in the list. If I point it at ROMS and select SCAN SUBFOLDERS: YES, it will indeed put them all in one list. For obvious reasons, that's not gonna work. We may want to have a look at your log because it shouldn't be doing that. Not out of the box, anyways.

For me, it installed to the root of C: when I wiped my cab and started over a few months ago. I think that's the "new" default location, but if Tom Frequency could confirm that...

If you copy the entire GameEx folder over and then download and run the installer you should be golden. The GameEx install goes on the root of the C: drive like this: C:/GameEx Make sure you update all your emulator and rom paths after the install as your drive letter may change. If you need help we're here for ya.

This is already possible. Just put a video in the logos folder of the theme you're using with the same name as the logo you're replacing.

I know there's people here who still use Winkawaks (although I'm not one of them), but haven't heard Raine mentioned in a looong time.

OK, here's the process. Go to your START menu, select the GameEx folder, and open up Advanced Configuration. Select the first option: MAME SETTINGS. The last option on the first page is Custom List Path. Point this line at the folder you put your cocktail games list I gave you in. Your logo has to be either JPEG or PNG. Place that in the LOGOS folder of the theme you're currently using. Mine is like this: C:/GameEx/Themes/BlueBox/Logos. Now, open up GameEx. Select MAME, and go to the bottom option: UPDATE LIST. Let your MAME list update, and you should now see your new icon. When you select it, you should see all the games you gave me for that list in the INI. Oh and it would probably be best if you put that INI file in its own seperate folder. I put mine in a folder called GameEx_Folders in the MAME directory.

I think it's actually the gameex favorites folder under mame it goes in. As long as the name of the file I gave you and the icon have the same name, GameEx will display it.

I personally have never used HK's compiler to compile anything besides MAME. I think there's a thread here somewhere that can help you. Let me see if I can pull it up. .:EDIT:. The link is here. About four posts down, B2K24 added a helpful guide to compiling MAMEUI.

I don't believe there is... I thought it just showed the videos for games on your favorites list or most played? Mine seems to play Mortal Kombat II and Pac Man, then starts over again playing the same two.

You should be able to just add a 1 in the INI for load MAME.INI, or at least that's what works for vanilla mame.

Yes but I still feel that when you build the theme there's a way to remove this feature. Been so long since I tried making one that I can't be 100% positive though.

I believe (am about 99.999% sure actually) that there is an option in ZSNES to send the save over anytime it has been changed (as opposed to when the emulator exits). The option should be accessible in the GUI or in the ZSNES.CFG file.

Maybe it's only version 4 themes? I wonder if HK's theme shows the option too? This makes me curious... it's the Blue Box theme by the way...

That's what it does for me... I just tried it with my NES emu which was only missing a handful of snaps.

That being said, why not just go get a torrent with a clean copy of XP and just use your key from the licensed PC? Windows keys aren't tied to the machine it came with. As a tech I do this on reformats all the time from one copy of Windows.

I would think you would almost need a .lay file that goes over the video instead. But what do I know? *shrugs*

GameEx looks for MAME.exe by default. You need to change the command line to MAME32.exe I bet.
