A lot of those games are on other systems. Whereas a few of those I think are sequels only available on the DC.

The Forgotten Video Game Memories Hiding In Our Brains
hansolo77 replied to tthurman's topic in Social Club
And here I thought this was the start of a "help me find this game I remember playing but can't find" thread. Too bad, I need one. -
I never owned a Dreamcast. My buddy in high school did and brought it over once. He had his chipped so he could play imports. At the time, burning discs wasn't quite yet perfected (something about the way the discs needed to be burned, and he wasn't quite up to to the task of making it work). But it was nice because he could play imports and domestic, and he had bought a few Japanese shooters that were really cool. I was a little under impressed myself at the time. I had nothing against the console or the games, but felt like it was Sega trying too hard to compete against the PS2. There weren't any games I was like "Damn I wish I had that", so I was happy with just my PS2. Found out a year or so later he sold it for a modded PS2 (back before they had soft mods and needed like 32 wires). I wasn't willing to risk burning out my PS2 so I left well enough alone. Now, years later, thanks to the improved hardware of the ODROID XU4, and an awesome emulator, I can play pretty much all the games he had with only a little hiccup now and then. Still, after going through my emulating library of Dreamcast games, I gotta say.. I was pretty wrong about things. The capabilities of the console are way beyond the PS2. I feel like it was like the Atari Jaguar, a system built ahead of it's time with lack of support. I'm actually really keen on following your progress with this guy because I might just turn around and do one myself. I know the first thing I tried to play was Ecco the Dolphin, having LOVED it on the SegaCD. That game alone just blew my mind, full 3D underwater simulation. I didn't even really play it so much as just boot it up and swim around a bit. Can't wait to find some free time to actually dive (pun) into it. Good luck!

About time we got some positivity!

You lost me, but it's fun reading your progress. At this point you could probably build your own console..

I won't tell anybody... Updated OP
-
Yeah, it's definitely one of those games that I think did better in the home console rather than the arcade. The controls are just terrible. Updated OP, DB, RSS (also removed TIF )

That doesn't sound enticing at all. Updated OP, DB, RSS

Nice improvement! Updated OP, DB, RSS

I enjoy the tinkering, but can't support spending a lot of money on a big station when all I do is tinker. I'll admit I just use a cheap on/off iron, but I did invest in a good sharp tip and a much finer diameter solder. I had been using the stuff usually included as a freebie with the iron, which is thick. Took me years to realize the problem was the solder. I've been getting a lot better results with the finer solder. I think i might get a better iron one of these days. I also got some flux but I don't quite get the benefit of it yet. The stuff I initially bought was in a white plastic "jar", and was a goopy brownish yellow gel. After one use (using a toothpick to apply), the container became sealed from the flux and was unable to be opened again. I then bought some stuff in a syringe but it clogged and became unusable too. I also have a problem where my tip oxidizes too fast and requires a lot more solder and frequent cleaning. I still consider myself a 1st grade novice, and no where near a high school senior yet.

Just a bunch of haters is what you guys are I'm excited, even if it turns out a flop. I can still install Windows 10 on it (confirmed right on their homepage) and from that I'll install GameEx and my emulators and make it better. If it comes with capabilities of AAA games (also confirmed right on their homepage), it'd be that much better. Plus the promise of a completely accessible sandbox mode and a huge open source dev community, it'll really be worth it. I mean, the NES mini was hacked in what, 24 hours? The PSX in like 48? This thing will rock out of the gate because you don't NEED to hack it. It's already there. Even if it turns out to just be nothing more than an Ouya, nVidia Shield, or a glorified Raspberry Pi... it still has the Atari name with it, and by looking at the progress they made with the joystick alone, they care. They listened to concerned backers about Paddle games and developed a solution while we watched. They've responded to my inquiries about the hardware where they can, and even the software. They didn't ignore me like some other companies. They want to bring a system that is fully polished and ready to go. I'd be fine if it delayed till next Spring if they had too. I know a console will be delivered to me eventually, and my family of Atari fanboys will love it. We owned every console and 2 computer models (800 and ST). We're in this thing for the long haul. I just wish there was more positive talk about it and not so much negativity.

More power to you man. I still question my skills with an iron. From installing modchips to simple wiring for RetroPie builds, I'm still really iffy. I don't even feel confident with stuff like reattaching the negative battery spring on a double D-Size battery flashlight!

Battle Damage - Unofficial Star Wars Hype Thread

I'm in it for the money! Just waiting another week so I can afford the pre-order. -
I wonder if maybe you have a cold solder joint somewhere. I had a similar issue with something I had done and it fixed by re-soldering it. Kind of like the connection isn't secure until it's heated up a little. Regardless, glad you got a working system!

I'm not interested. I might be thrilled to get a Mini Genesis as a gift, but I don't need any kind of mini console. I just don't seed the fad.

WHY?!?!?!!

Hope you get well soon buddy! Happy Birthday!

Does anybody have the link to the video with the CEO interview? I'd like to watch it.

It's cool. I wouldn't have known had it not been for the fact that the game keeps track by adding a digit to the end of the score. You just gotta post a new score.
-
Rules are one credit per submission buddy! Metal Slug allows your score to stay if you add more than 1 credit to continue. The last digit shows you added 2 additional credits to get your score. Can't except it. Sorry man!
