Oh crap I forgot about that bug bkenobi thanks for reminding me. Okay I fixed it and am upload again. I didn't bother changing the version number.

Version 2.86 Released - Now supports analog input controls If you use analog inputs in Mame then inside the PlugInLCD configuration set them up using the digital codes and it should map them correctly. Again I haven't had much time to do any testing so please give me feedback.
-
Version 1.2 Released - You can now change the map when Mame is paused so you can browse the menus in CPWizard. I really need feedback on this if it works or not as I have not done any testing! You can specify the map to use when Mame is paused in PlugInUltraStik.ini Eg. [Mame] pause=joy4way

Version 2.1 Released - Analog inputs now supported. Mame ROM name now lower case. Added Show Retry. Improved Show/Hide Really important update. I hope I've fixed the show problem for good now. There is a new "Show Retry" option which will attempt to show CPW a number of times if it fails but I don't think I needed to add that in the end. Please let me know if you are still having problems with CPW not showing. Analog inputs are now supported. I had to do a few changes to implement this but it seems to work well. You have to use the digital input labels in CPW and it will map the analog codes to digital codes. When the ROM named is passed via command line it now forces it to lower case.

I fixed this a while ago and posted the new version of the Setup Wizard on the forums.

I would love to add support for the Demo's to WinUAE Loader but we need Belgarath to update the Gamebase Amiga database which is what I use in the loader. 1.6 was the latest update and that is where the loader is up to as well. A few people have asked on the Mage forum when there will be an update to include them but I'm not sure if there was any definitive answer. There is one other way and that would be to edit the Data\WHDLoad.xml file manually to add them.

Is there any particular reason why you didn't try the Vista Codec Pack which I recommended to you on several occations? It includes an flv codec.
-
Tom GameEx can play flv's it just doesn't seem to recognise the flv entension. If I rename them to avi they play fine. This was reported a while ago so I don't know if you fixed that or not.

The GameEx Database Project
headkaze replied to headkaze's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
Yes we do use those fields and they are important, thanks for reporting the bug I'm fixing it now. It seems to occur when exporting multiple mdb's at once. EDIT: I just realised this is a really important bug you've found! It means there are databases that don't have any Biography info because of this. EDIT2: I've fixed the bug -
Wombat: I do want to get this problem solved trust me. I have a method which is supposed to force a window into the foreground but it's failing for you. Why? I'm not really sure yet. One thing I haven't tried is to attempt to bring it to foreground 3 times or something then on the 3rd failed attempt to bring Mame back to the foreground. At least it will allow you get back control. Another option you have is to export bezels. That creates a bezel for each game and with the bezel patch you can pause Mame and it will display your CP. You don't even need CPWizard running to use this option. A few people have opted to go this way. But yes it's annoying to have to generate them each time you change something around. It should work fine with d3d although I must admit most of my testing is in ddraw mode. I will do some testing in d3d mode and see if I can get the problem to occur here. If I can replicate the problem it's so much easier to fix it. That has always been my main problem with this "bug" is not being able to replicate it.

Yes that's the latest version. Is it still being supported? Why what's the problem your having?

Thanks for reporting this, I've fixed the bug and sent Tom the latest version EDIT: I'll attach it here as well SetupWizard.zip

In general the people who complain about the nag screen are the ones who donate to remove it. Whatever your personal reason for donating my point is still valid. Not everyone that comes here is a programmer (like you and I) so not everyone knows the time and effort involved. Some people think all software should be free; but that is probably why alot of Indy coders don't bother charging for their software. At the end of the day it's up to you if you donate and the amount you donate. Donate what you think it's worth or don't donate at all and when I say that I mean people in general NOT JUST YOU.

First of all GameEx switches to WMP when going into visualisations so that is why it restarts the song. Perhaps Tom could change it so it will jump to the same song position? Not sure about the flickering.

Actually those instructions were written by greatflash and in all honesty he should put his name in the by line instead because I did bugger all work on it

Well as I've said several times in the past when a post like this does come up (which is not often at all really and I don't even think there was even one posted last year) that I'm happy with the model the way it is now. I happily paid for the registration to remove the nag screen, and think it was a bargain considering the amount of work gone into it and the costs involved in maintaining it, not to mention how active and well supported it is. So I don't have any better ideas. The only thing I think might be worth doing is to add a 2 day trial where there is no nag screen perhaps? That way you have 2 days to set up GameEx before the nag screen kicks in rather than have to wait while configuring it for the first time. But that is really why I added the Verify Setup anyway so probably not worth bothering with anyway (I would rather you spend time on adding more features).
-
If there was no nag screen would you have made a donation? The nag screen encourages people to donate and if you use it enough for it to become annoying then you probably should pay for it anyway. In the Setup Wizard there is a "Verify Setup" which is supposed to help you test your settings before you run GameEx so you dont have to deal with the nag screen as often. After running GameEx a few times you should know by then if you can tollerate the nag screen and if not, then buy it so it goes away. It's very hard to get donations when you just ask nicely. Most people will avoid paying for something unless they are forced to (or in this case nagged to). The registered version has more features than the free version and no nag screen, that is the difference between the two versions. Tom could make two separate downloads one he could call "free"and list the features in the free version and a registered version and list those features. The reason it's one program is because it would be much more hastle to maintain two separate downloads. So the differences you mention are trivial when you consider that he could split the program into two if he wanted to and thus comply with your definition of "free" software, but it would clearly be a hastle to do that and make no difference other than to satisfy your definition.

Tom must have stayed up all night making that box

What version of ffdshow are you using? You don't need to use the old version anymore.

You didn't realise you were a HyperSpin forum mod? I thought it would be obvious to you (of all people) who I meant! How did you become the first mod there anyway? Were you friends with Bill before HyperSpin came along? I know you live close to him and have met him in RL a few times.

1) I really thought I had solved this problem for good. I've spent alot of time trying to figure out why it doesn't sometimes show for some people. I guess I'll need to look into it a bit more. Posting a verbose log might help after it does fail to show. 2) You can do this, there is an option called "Exit to Menu". So you can view the CP only but exit back to the menu if you like. 3) Yes I've heard of this problem before. I have an idea on how to fix this actually. I could simply have the plugin set the U360's to 8way when Mame is paused or integrate the plugin directly into CPWizard. 4) I will try and keep up with HiToText releases myself but you can open CPWizard.ini and change the location of the HiToText.exe that way you can have it point to the one in the GameEx folder. I'm not sure if Tom will keep up with releases. As for the rank showing 0 instead of 1 I don't know if that's intentional or not. You can either post a question in the HiToText thread on this forum or the one on BYOAC and I'm sure Firecrypts will answer that for you.

Out of respect for Tom we should probably keep the HyperSpin related posts to a minimum. I'm not sure if posting videos here is appropriate. Both authors have a great amount of respect for each others projects and we even share a moderator with them. I've had personal chats with Bill on numerous occations and have alot of respect for him and his project as well, and he happens to be a great guy to boot. Both FE's are innovators in the scene but also very different beasts as well. As for launching HyperSpin from GameEx you could set it up as an external program. But I don't think it would make sense to launch it from selecting a game.

A quote from Randy from here. I'm pretty sure the instructions state this as well. For my LEDWiz Makeover I used 12V power from the power supply. I suggest you do the same.
-
How is your LEDWiz being powered? From USB or 12V from the PC power supply? USB is not recommended in most cases as it doesn't have enough power.
-
You need to know the input id's of the LEDWiz and which buttons they are hooked up to. You should be able to see the buttons light up white when you get the inputs right. Since you didn't build it it's hard to know the inputs without looking at the LEDWiz and how it's been wired up. But as soon as a button goes white that means you have the Red, Green and Blue inputs correct for a button. It should become apparent how they have it wired after doing a few buttons as they should have it in some sort of pattern. Eg. Button1, LEDWiz Id #1, Red=1, Blue=2, Green=3 Button2, LEDWiz Id #1, Red=4, Blue=5, Green=6 etc. There is some semi-instructions here which might help.
