  1. Verify Setup wont show on the search because it's for searching out individual settings by name. To get to Verify Setup (I thought you would know this one ) just select Custom Wizard Mode, then click next twice and your there.
  2. One minor issue Tom, in my Soul Calibur theme (I run 1280 x 1024 on my cab), the x of xxxx display beneath the game list is immediately after the list rather than having a space beneath it and the list above. I'm not sure if it supposed to be like that, if so I can just as easy turn it off.
  3. Not yet, I'm not even sure what V3 Themes are all about yet. lingpanda: I'm hoping the new search feature of the Setup Wizard should help all of us in providing support. Instead of searching through pages of settings we can now just look them up by typing in keywords. We can also just say "search for xxx" in the Setup Wizard! I had you in mind when I thought of it (hopefully help you with your tutes as well) I'm sure there will be a question popping up soon of "where can I get game manuals"? I asked Tom the same question and he pointed me to www.gamemanuals.net but it seems to be down at the moment. Great update Tom! (Especially love the new font handling code SLICK!)
  4. Something like the attached.. GameEx uses a color key (color key means a single color, rather than an alpha channel which uses 256 levels). In your psd you have the background as an alpha channel. So what I did was make your background black, then merge all your other layers into one, and make it slightly brighter with less contrast. That is to remove any black from the logo so that it will not be keyed out or become transparent. Hope this helps, if you want to talk more about it start a new thread in the main forum, this is for submitting finished themes and media.
  5. Vista has been released today in Australia, and I was feeling a bit left out since it's a bit expensive for me to upgrade at the moment and I want a new dual core before I bother anyway. So rather than cry about it, I decided to find a theme (I mean real XP theme not those hacks) along with a wallpaper image that will make me feel a bit more "Vistary". And I thought I'd share it with you all The final result looks like this.. This is a real theme, official Microsoft XP theme (no special hacks required) Download Zune Theme One you install the theme use the attached wallpaper. Enjoy VistaWallpaper.zip
  6. Are you using a wireless keyboard or mouse? If so believe it or not interference (especially from wireless network traffic) can cause them to do strange things.
  7. Okay I've encoded another version of the video using a different codec. It's wierd after installing WMP 11 I can't encode using any of ffdshow's WMP codecs. So this time I tried XVid, but it's saying it's MPEG4. I don't know *shrugs*, codecs can drive a man insaine! Anyway, try this one instead bak.zip. Replace both bak.avi and emubak.avi. Let me know if it works for you.
  8. You can disable the floppy drive in Device Manager. Incidently I used my floppy drive not so long ago and then it started to randomly get accessed all the time (even with no disk in it). I thought maybe it was the anti-virus software, or some "recently used" document causing the access. It could even be a broken drive, I'm not sure. But I have mine turned off in Device Manager now.
  9. I scored 80% too Bob Baker, hehe that made me laugh I do know how to spell Tom's surname though Q's I got wrong were mimimum RAM and DirectX version.
  10. Did you try updating WMP to version 11? Hmm I may need to re-do the video in an older codec.
  11. No, you don't have to be a registered user to use DVD playback or ffdshow filters.
  12. ffdshow does not come bundled with GameEx, but you can download and use the ffdshow codecs in GameEx. Newer versions of ffdshow seem to cause some problems though, so I usually recommend the latest daily build of ffdshow from here I'm not sure if this version has the upscaling filters, but once you install it you can configure it by selecting Start->Programs->ffdshow->Video Decoder Configuration.
  13. My video background is rendered at 320x240. I wouldn't go any higher because you will get major slow downs in GameEx. Considering the amount of work going on it's understandable.
  14. Try turning off the built in CP Viewer. Unless somehow you have a shift function on your IPAC that invokes TAB, so when you press the ALT key and a shift function it presses ALT-TAB. Either way try turning off the built in CP Viewer and see if it remedies the problem, if not we can assume it's something else. Start->Programs->GameEx->Setup Wizard->Custom->Enable/Disable Features (2)->Enable Panel Viewer->No You can also try assigning a different key to the CP Viewer in Setup Wizard->Custom->Advanced Mame Settings->Ingame CP View VK
  15. Perhaps you have Sticky Keys turned on (it's on by default). To turn it off go to Start->Settings->Control Panel->Accessibility Options->Keyboard Tab->Take tick off Use StickyKeys. StickyKeys is invoked when you hold down a button for a certain length of time. It is very annoying on a cab and should be switched off.
  16. Yeah I had the same problem I believe with WMP 10. Updating to WMP 11 solved it for me. Open WMP and select Help->Check for Updates... Sorry about that perhaps I should have chosen an older codec.
  17. Lol, I did not even think about that!
  18. You know what I have no idea how that gradiant got in that screenshot. I certainly did not manually add that. Perhaps something that happened while I was grabbing the graphics for the tutorial. I remember looking at the text wondering what that strange colored outline was on the title text, and I didn't even realise it had a gradiant then. So there you go, I have no idea how it got there!
  19. I wonder if you have the CP Viewer VK code setup and your CP is somehow triggering it. The default key for the CP Viewer is L, so try pressing L while playing Mame and see if you get the same effect.
  20. 1. Create a screenshot of GameEx in the Default theme in fullscreen mode and in the resolution you want to make your Theme background video in. Alt-Print Screen should take a screenshot and store it in the clipboard. 2. Open Photoshop and select File->New then Edit->Paste to paste the screenshot. 3. Create a new layer Layer->New. 4. Set up your grids by selected Edit->Preferences->Guides, Grid & Slices. Set it to 16 pixels. You can experiment with different values to suit your needs. 5. Now turn on the grid View->Show->Grid, then turn on Extras View->Extras. Make sure you turn on View->Snap To->Grid and View->Snap. Now we can use the grid to draw our outlines and it will snap to the grid. 6. Using the Elliptical Marquee Tool from the toolbar, draw circles in each corner of the text areas and fill them using while. Alt-Backspace fills the marquee with your foreground color and Ctrl-Backspace fills it with your background color. 7. Fill in the rest with the Rectangular Marquee tool. Place an inner and outter glow using the following settings. The result should be 8. Now turn off the GameEx snapshot layer by clicking the little eye next to it in the layers window. 9. Save this as a png file 10. Import the image into Gimp. I really wish Photoshop had this feature but as far as I know it dosn't. Once you have the image imported select Filters->Colors->Color To Alpha. What this does is convert the color white to alpha so that it is transparent. Save the new png. 11. Open up the new image in photoshop and finish off your background, and remember that the alpha channel (which looks like little light and dark grey squares) is where the video will be visible through the background. If you have a solid white background at the moment, you can right click it and delete it. You should have no background layer now so you should have the little grey grids instead. Now save your image as a png. 12. Now open up Premiere Pro and import the video file and png image you just saved. Drag both of them onto the Timeline. 13. You may need to scale the size of the image to cover the video properly. 14. Then export the video by selecting File->Export->Movie... In the Export Movie dialog, select the Settings... button. 15. Take the tick off Export Audio because you don't need it in GameEx. 16. I suggest a size of 320 x 240 and keep the frame rate the same as the source video. It just seems to work better that way. As your Compressor select ffdshow Video Codec. Then select the Configure... button. 17. I use the Windows Media Video V8 Encoder just because it works fine with GameEx and gives a decent compression ratio. You can of course use a different encoder if you wish. 18. Thats it, it should render your new video background! Test it first in Windows Media Player, then try it out in GameEx by copying it to your theme's folder and name it bak.avi and emubak.avi. When you view a game list you should now see your video in the background with your overlayed graphics.
  21. Perhaps your somehow minimising the game. Does alt-tab rescue you from "The Black Hole"?
  22. LCD/LED Plugin 1.2 BETA Latest features added - Realtime color feedback while you configure your LED's (actually this has been working for a while, but I never mentioned it) - Color mapping so you can map custom colors for color.ini - Now LEDs lights up and flash leaving last LED lit with speak button actions feature - Skip speak button actions feature with button (will not be available until next release of GameEx) Oh yeah huge thanks to Tom for modifying the Plugin system to allow for the "skip speak button actions" feature! It will be available in the next release of GameEx which will be soon!

    dvd play ??

puppetj, unfortuntely I just don't think emulation is for you. I've never seen anyone have so many problems setting up GameEx. Even with all the work that's been done to make setting up as easy as possible, it's practically impossible to make everything work "out of the box". Also you don't have to install every emulator there is. Some are very hard to set up (Eg. WinUAE which I already explained). I havn't even setup WinUAE again since starting over on my cab to test the Setup Wizard. If I find it difficult to setup, then I'm sure you will too. It seems to me every problem you have encountered you have been straight on the forum asking for help without trying much to tackle the problem yourself. People here are very friendly and willing to help and have tried to help you the best they can. Just because you post a question doesn't mean people will answer it. Even if there are 100 views to your problem. Some people simply don't know how to help solve your issue and many people just visit this board and are not active posters or they don't have a login (yes visitors can view posts but they can't post themselves). I've tried to help you on several occations but you don't seem to try my suggestions, you just post back "didn't work" or other such replies that give no feedback on how to help further. Your latest outburst is not welcome behaviour on this board. Please try to be more patient and explain your problems in more depth. I have never seen anyone have so many issues setting up GameEx, so perhaps you need consider having less emulators setup. I only have the ones I really want on my system, I don't set them up for the sake of it. Also many emulators need to be setup outside of GameEx before they run properly in GameEx. In reply to your latest threads: - Never tried sff sega saturn emulator - No DVD iso's don't work - Forget WinUAE it's difficult to setup even for experts - Noone can figure out why your mouse is missing in snes9x - I've never tried mess - And I can't figure out why "mame exits back to menu in the middle of game" You won't be banned from from this forum and you are still welcome here, but please have more patience, and try to explain your problems in more detail. And try not to lose your temper and SHOUT. If you are a registered user contact Tom and you will get a refund if you want. I've read through some of your previous posts and don't think you are registered anyway not that it matters or that we treat un-registered users differently.
  24. It's very easy with Premiere Pro. If anyone is interested I can give a quick tutorial on it.
  25. I'd be a bit dubious about this release. How come I've never heard of it? And noone has mentioned it in the years there have been no new Chankast releases? It could be a version with a virus embedded or spyware or anything. What source is this file from and how reliable is it? BTW Just because your anti-virus software dosn't detect a virus dosn't mean there isn't one in there. I've detected and contained new variants where my anti-virus has failed and before the virus dat's have caught up. Okay mystery solved in two seconds by a search on Google...
