  1. I was just using that as an example. Is there an art path that you don't use? As I said before I change my PCB, Because I don't have any PCB pictures (and they are not something I want). If you don't want to lose any of your current paths, then I don't believe it can be done, but somebody else may know a way.... Edit: Give me an hour, I'm going to check out something
  2. Don't ya hate it when you have to answer your own questions? Sometimes it's more like blogging than anything else...
  3. Two quick things: # Apply a filter to the MAME game list. Seperate words to filter on with # a semi colan. Any game name descriptions that contain these words will # not be shown in the game list if the GameFilterOn setting is enabled. GameFilter=Japan;Korea;Asia;Hispanic;Bootleg;French;German;Hack;Prototype;H rdware GameFilterOn=True set this filter to False #Don't add clones to the list if True. Default is false. # Use in conjuction with NoGameInfo=True to # create a very clean looking list. NoClones=1 Set this to false Update your list again. You can attach the file by browsing for it in the box below where you are typing, then you have to click on where it says "manage current attachments" and select "insert in textbox" or something similar to that.
  4. Post your Gameex.ini, and I will play with it tomorrow.
  5. And other user selected options as well.....
  6. http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?sh...amp;#entry34281 Try reading that and see if it helps...Some strange Directx stuff lately. My problems started with a windows update. Shaunopp's was something else. Read the whole thread and see if it helps. Mods - Maybe this should be pinned for awhile....ALOT of Directx errors lately.
  7. That's cool looking! So does it have a huge HDD so you can rip movies to it and select them from the Gameex menu? So much to learn.....
  8. Allright I hope that my achievments deserve "bragging" status! I at one time had 999,999 in the top three spots in Tempest Then, I did one of my brainless moves and deleted the file. DOH! My top score is around 1,050,000. I agree with whoever said above that cheats aren't helpful, I found that I didn't try as hard when I had Infinite lives!
  9. HK, I downloaded CPWizard 1.64, and it will not run. The file size is 22MB, So I'm pretty sure I have the whole thing. I then uninstalled CPWizard and re-installed but it didn't help. It opened up the window for mame paths, I set my Mame.exe, and it goes to the CPWizard 1.64 - ben baker window (the outline of the window shows, but I can still see my desktop inside the window. at that point it locks up. I deleted my mame cfg file because the error log showed that as the last thing, after that it made it about 2 steps further. I am running windows XP Pro. Here is my log: CPWizard.zip
  10. I'm probably not the best person for this, but if you bear with me I will try to help. If someone else knows of an easier way, please jump in. All I'm basically telling you is that you can change the items that are displayed when looking at the page that has the options of marquee, cabinet, etc. In doing what I said you are not really "adding snaps". If you were to put Marquee pictures in whatever folder you have setup in your mame paths in Gameex for Cabinets, when you highlight Cabinets in the Gameex window, it would show a Marquee. Gameex doesn't care what's in the folder, it just displays the information according to the paths you hve setup. The part about changing the language, and display text is just so that it makes sense to the user. I find this hard to explain, but go home and try it. You could start by changing your path to your marquees to wherever your "back of box.png"s are located, then go to the marquee option in Gammex and you will see your box art instead of the marquee. Oh yeah, Each back of box. png must have the same name as the .zip file for the appropriate game. E.g. tempest.png = tempest.zip I don't think I've explained this very well.....
  11. Yeah, I got that part. The basic story is this. I found it difficult to go through all of the individual themes, and logo packs while trying to find a logo that I wanted. So I have assembled them in one file with 630 logos in 84 folders. I have removed Nologic's stuff, and it still is 92.5MB in size. I spent alot of time on this, visually checking to make sure that there were no duplicate's, and sorting them into folders. I do not take any credit for the logos themselves. I have only organized what I downloaded from the Gameex site. According to the Upload button below where I am typing, I can only upload a maximum of 2MB. So, the question is can I upload them, or if you wish I could E-mail them to you and you can upload them. I made this offer to HK, but recieved no response. I don't care what happened between you guys and Nologic, frankly I don't think it is any of my business, but we do have to go forward from here. I know I'm not the brightest person here, but I have tried to do my best to contribute where I could, and It is my wish that we all continue to communicate in a positive way, and deal with this in the best way that we can to benefit the community. It might have been best to post Nologics wishes, so that we all know where we stand. I'm hoping that in time, all of this will blow over, and in that Nologic will be welcome here again. (To that end, I volunteer myself to do whatever I can to help). I think he was a great benefit, and his sense of humor was always appreciated. I know (and he did too) that his temper was a problem, and apparently he let it get the best of him. I don't know if he is allowed to view posts or not, but if he can, I hope he reads this and will at least try to reconcile with Tom, and HK. I'm sorry if I went on a rant, but this is how I feel, and I do not wish to pretend that he never existed, and that this never happened. My signature is a tribute, but do not assume that I am taking sides. If it offends anybody to the point where it is a problem, I will remove it. Now, how can I upload the file?
  12. amen!
  13. I did not know this. I just went through all of the logos I could find, and have created a file consisting of 667 logos in 85 folders. It comes up to 99MB. I PM'd Headkaze since he was the only one who responded to my original post about doing this, and have had no response. It would be easy for me to remove NoLogic's stuff, because I left them in their original folder. I'm just hoping that I haven't wasted my time, because belive it or not it took awhile to sort everthing out, remove duplicates, and organize everthing into folders. I cant' upload them because we are limited to 2MB. Will one of the mods please tell me what to do?
  14. Ok, I admit it I didn't notice the HTPC part in your original post. I didn't even know what HTPC was, so I Googled it. You Have a HOME THEATRE PERSONAL COMPUTER. Why didn't you say so? I am also willing to admit that was sarcasm. Maybe I'm missing something, if I am, please let me know, because I do like to learn new things. That's what this is all about. (No Sarcasm) My joystick, trackball, and keyboard encoder are all usb. I'm thinking (like a carpenter) that it would be pretty easy to build your own box with whatever controls you wanted. Seriously, is there more to this HTPC stuff than I realize? If I hooked my cabinet (PC) to my Home Theatre (HT) wouldn't I have a HTPC too?
  15. If I understand what you are asking for, it can be done. E.G. you are looking at mame > all games, and Choose Tempest from the list. Now you are looking at Tempest, and it has options to view Marquee,Cabinet, etc. (if not then you have to enable "display game information" in Gameex) In my case I don't have any PCB pictures. So I sacrificed that option. Set the PCB path in Gameex to the location of the "back of box" path Set your language to "custom" Change the text for PCB from "PCB" to "Back of Box" That's it! If your not sure where to change all of the options, use the "search" option in set up wizard. You may have to use Advanced Configuration for some of them. You can do the same for the cheats, but I've never seen them offered as a .png anywhere, maybe you could do the set, and post them here
  16. Well, I cut that from this thread: http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?sh...amp;#entry34281 Try reading that and see if it helps...Some strange Directx stuff lately.
  17. According to Headkaze, the latest version of the CPWizard has a help file included. Go to Help>help I haven't tried it yet, I'm downloading now..... http://members.iinet.net.au/~freeaxs/cpwizard/
  18. I've been using the Ultimarc Ultrastik 360. It is programmable to be 4way,2way up down,2way left right, analog, 8way, 4way diagonals, etc. If you use oqqalz's Plugin Ultrastik, the maps will be loaded automatically per game in Mame, and you can set a specific map on a per emulator basis. I like it, but my wife doesn't like the way it "feels". I know there are others here using them. The biggest downside is price. I was thinking of trying a "Leaf" Joystick next time to see if my wife would like it better. Good Luck!
  19. Why not?
  20. What a shocker this morning . Nologic is gone. When I started reading Tom's Post, I thought that Nologic had been killed, and I guess he has. I will definately miss him.
  21. I believe that they are two different things. With the first "use zinc" option, you are saying it's ok. to use Zinc instead of Mame for the games that Zinc supports. The second option gives you the choice of displaying Zinc games under a different page in Gameex, (mine says "Playstation) under the Mame games section. If you do not enable this, these games will remain in the Mame list of games, but still use Zinc to run them when selected, so the user wouldn't know if the game was being run by Mame, or Zinc. To test this, change the setting to "Hide Zinc", start Gameex, and select a game that you have running in Zinc (Aquarush comes to mind) from the Mame list. While the game is running press "tab" or whatever key brings up the mame menu in your system. The menu should not appear, because Mame isn't running!
  22. Ok. that's what I thought... this is cut from my #6 post above: So, yes I think it would be better, but my first thoughts aren't always the best. I was also wondering if there was a way to extract all of the different <constant names> from the control.xml so that they could either : 1. Be included in the documentation so that the user would know what the options for "Mame Keywords" are. or 2. Be able to be selected from a drop down list of "Mame Keywords" within the CPWizard program. (providing that the list isn't too long) If you could read my posts #5 and #6 above it may clear things up. Also I am willing to help in anyway that I can.
  23. Ok. that will help Bkenobi, but where are you getting the information for "Mame keywords" from? Basically I'm trying to figure out what the options are. I guess Ideally it would be nice to select them from a drop down box, if there aren't too many.
  24. Headkaze, I finally have gotten some of my own "issues" worked out with Mame/GX/CPWizard. I fix the joystick problem I was having, and I changed a couple of settings in MAME. Ms. Pac-Man was using 100% of my processor speed, I have it now around 50% I think theses two things were causing the problem I had before with CPWizard not displaying on pause, my joystick interfering with key commands, and there just wasn't time for my processor to do anything else. Now that I have everthing working well, (CPWizard pops right up on pause) I have to tell you that when I use escape to exit the CP image, mame is minimized to the taskbar. I am running windows xp pro, CPWizard 1.62 Also, when you have time could you check out my ramblings here: http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?sh...ic=3292&hl= Thank you!
