  1. I forgot about the AVI 'M' Logos...can we get a teaser?
  2. You aren't going to have the "control" with a keyboard, that you would have with a trackball, and spinner. I am having a hard time trying to explain it... If you use your keyboard, you can only move at a given rate of speed, and the only way to move slower would be to tap the keys. With a trackball, or spinner, you can vary the speed of your movement based on how fast you move the control. If I had to play Tempest with a keyboard, I wouldn't play it...
  3. Search for "Language" in the setup wizard, and select "Custom" as your Language.
  4. well....my version of Gameex has PluginUltraStik by Oqqalz. I'm a couple of versions behind in Gameex, and Headkaze has been working on a new version, but I assume you have the same plugin as I do. I cut this from pluginultrastick.ini, located in the gameex\plugins folder... # If you want to change the joystick map for a particular rom, just make an # entry with the name of the rom, without file extension, (), [], or {} and # with a value equal to the joystick map you want to use. Any joystick map # value that end in ".um" is assumed to be an external UltraMap file and it # must reside within the GameEx's PLUGINS directory for it to be loaded. # # [GameEx] #debug=true # Used for debugging. Exit=joy4way # Configuration for joystick(s) on exit of GameEx GameExit=joy4way # Configuration for joystick(s) on exit of a game but still within GameEx GUI [Mame] default=analog asteroid=joy2way # I prefer 2 way joystick rather than buttons astdelux=joy2way # I prefer 2 way joystick rather than buttons tron=joy4way # Tron actually uses an 8-way stick but with a 4-way restrictor tron2=joy4way # Tron actually uses an 8-way stick but with a 4-way restrictor tron3=joy4way # Tron actually uses an 8-way stick but with a 4-way restrictor tron4=joy4way # Tron actually uses an 8-way stick but with a 4-way Add these entries to the [Mame] list: defender=joy8way stargate=joy8way Save the .ini file, and you should be good to go. You can also do custom maps... There are instructions on how to do this in the pluginultrastik.ini. If you need help, just ask!
  5. I'm probably way off (a habit of mine) If I understand you correctly, you select Defender from the Mame list in Gameex, and then start the game. Then you then press "tab" to bring up the Mame user interface. When you try to set the controls for left and right, it won't let you. Is that right? Brian is (almost always) right, Gameex shouldn't have anything to do with that. The only thing I can think of is that for some reason then Ultrastik plugin isn't setting your maps correctly. It sound to me like you have a 2-way vertical map, and that is why Mame won't accept left and right from the joystick. Now that I've typed that out, that is (probably) exactly what the problem is. Does Defender use a 2-way vertical joystick? I'm betting it does from what you've said, and the plugin is making your U360 a 2-way vertical stick, making it impossible for you to set the controls as you would like. You will have to use a override for Defender, and Stargate, just set it up to use a 4-way map for those two games....
  6. Ah, so you have reached the same conclusion that I have, our hobby is not playing games, it's emulation. I have 47 confirmed emulators running, and set up in Gameex. The funny part is that I haven't bothered to map the controls in most of them, so I couldn't play them in my cab if I wanted too.
  7. That's a good enough explanation for me, and I appreciate it, because I didn't understand why using a database (or a map file) would cause problems...now I know!
  8. That's Nice... Does that mean I don't get credit? Brian gets all the love!
  9. It should be: ="[rompath]\[romfile]" Not: ="[rompath]/[romfile]" Add that to my ratio Brian...
  10. It is located in C:\Program Files\GameEx\DATA\runitgame.bat There should also be a shortcut in your Startmenu - Gameex - Run Last Game
  11. Yeah, I forgot about that! I had the same problem... If you are using USB devices, always make sure to plug each device into the same port everytime. Andy has directions on how to edit the registry to fix this (which I'm sure he gave you). I had to do the same thing before... It's not a big deal, but make a backup of your registry first just in case.

No, You didn't do anything wrong.... Recently, in another thread, Bkenobi helped someone else, and whoever it was said "thanks Ben". Shaunopp jumped in and said "How do you know it's Ben? How do you know it's not Bob?" I was referring to that, and your reference to Obi Wan. I wouldn't want you to get the impression that you were being flamed, or that I thought you were stupid, or anything like that. I HATE sites who act as if they know everything, because in reality everyone can contribute, we all have specialized knowledge. So Stick around, read every new post, and you'll start picking up on all the little jokes that run through the forum. Also, you weren't far off in referring to Bkenobi as Obi Wan...He and Brian both know alot about Gameex...Their correct/incorrect answer ratio is much higher than mine. The only thing I wonder is why Brian thinks I was taking a shot at him... Brian - Did I do something wrong?
  13. I picked up the cabinet... Here's a picture of the monitor. It's a wg 1931. The picture doesn't do it justice, this thing is clean! I got the cabinet, monitor, 2 lighted joysticks, 8 lighted buttons, 1 Ipac, 1 LED wiz, a 2.2 GHz Celeron computer with 80GB hard drive for $100. I'm telling you, DJ hates these monitors . I also got a look at his Nieman (don't go there ), it looks nice! Thanks DJ!
  14. I agree that the CPWizard is the only way to go... But I still had to run a "sanity check" on myself...

    Shaunopp...Care to jump in here?
  16. I've been staring at my screen for five minutes trying to figure out what I'm missing. I'm having a bad brain day, (it's hard to differentiate from the good ones ) so maybe I'm missing something... In this thread: http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=5666 Tom says you just have to point at the picture using the full path. I.E. C:\mypictures\emulators\atari2600.png Is there something else that is similar to what I think he's asking, that is confusing me? I'm not being a smart-ass, I just feel that I'm missing something again, and my correct/incorrect ratio is getting low...
  17. I don't have the latest version that allows for shifted buttons...Probably the version right before that. I'm not home, so I can't check right now. When I upgraded the firmware, the Ultrastick wouldn't work, so I went into the device manager, and uninstalled the Ultrastick, then when I unplugged it (USB), and plugged it back in, it re-installed itself. I didn't have any other problems, just didn't want you to upgrade your firmware, and then find that the Ultrastick didn't work at all....
  18. I think when I upgraded my firmware, that my Ultrastik stopped working, and I had to uninstall, and then re-install to get it to work. I'm just throwing this in in case you have a problem....
  19. Would this have anything to do with the option to rename games that start with "The"? Just throwin' it out there....
  20. I can't tell if you missed my little joke, or if I'm missing yours...
  21. I'm just wondering..... Before you named this topic.... Did you consider calling it "Standardisation f art paths..."?
  22. I'm not sure how other people do it, but since you didn't get any responses I'll tell you how I set up an emulator. Lets say you want to setup "Colecovision" Run "Advanced Configuration", pick an empty emulator slot. At the top of the page is a option called "Import Emulator". From the drop down list, first find [Console] Colecovision, then select a config from the drop down list (Gameex has 3 options for "colecovision", (CoEm), (Meka), (Mess)) I do this first, because it shows me my options for emulators that are already configured for Gameex. Go ahead and import a config if you want, or you can do it later. Install the emulator that you want to use, and at least one game (rom, iso, whatever), and make sure that you can run the game in the emulator without running Gameex. Don't ask us where to find the games, we don't know, we are stupid like that. Go back to Advanced Configuration, and if you didn't do it before, import the config that you want to use now. Change the paths to match yours. Start Gameex, and the Emulator will start up and run the first time every time! If it doesn't run, Try searching the forum for help. If you can't figure it out, feel free to ask for more help.
  23. Use the "advanced Configuration" program. Keep clicking "next" until you you see the emulator/program, that you want to export (I think in your case, #13) click on that, and at the top is a button that says "export". Click on export, and save the file. Open the file, and copy and past the contents into your next post.
  24. I'll help too...I would also require coaching!
  25. Thanks guys! That's what I was hoping for!
