I renamed your IPAC2.cfg to neogeo.cfg, and put it in Mame\ctrlr. I did not change the default keys, but I did change the neogeo entries. I figured that by not changing the default entries, the worse thing that could happen is that my keys would be messed up. It doesn't work. This should be simple. You may have to dumb-it-down for me... Sorry to be a PITA.
  2. and then try to change the controls again in Mame to see if it works....
  3. Did you ever check to make sure that your files aren't write protected? right-click on your mame folder, and make sure read-only isn't checked. If it asks you if you want to apply to all folders, and files, say yes. If you already did it, let me know so I can sleep better tonight....

What am I doing wrong? I do have the path set to the ctrlr file.... Want a better pic?
  5. HK, I would not consider this a bug, but... It looks like the Mame default profile starts working as soon as you enter the Mame section of Gameex. I was expecting for the Mame profile not to be used until Mame was actually running. I had the thought that I could have the appropriate buttons for using Gameex to be lit while in Gameex, and to have the buttons used to interact with Mame lit only while Mame is actually running. I have 5 buttons that I am using to operate Gameex, and Mame. I don't know if this would work or not, but I had the Idea of putting 2 different colored labels on the buttons, and lighting them with 2 different colors (The opposite color of the labels), so that only 1 set of labels would be obvious for Mame, or Gameex. Here's a lousy example of what I mean: (I used Saran Wrap on the button, and wrote on it with a marker ) Button set to white: Button set to red: Button set to blue:
  6. I'm trying to teach you how to make things idiot proof! It shows V2.77 in the plugin manager now, but Galaga still has both P1 and P2 controls lit. (I can't promise I haven't messed things up!) Top Gunner does not have an entry in controls.xml, and only lights P1 buttons... I just thought I'd throw that in, I don't know if it's helpful or not. I have not setup CPWizard on this computer yet, I'll make it a priority, and let you know.
  7. HK, I downloaded from the first post in this thread, and nothing has changed. I extracted to Gameex\plugins... I checked in the plugin manager, and it still indicates V2.66, as does the bottom of the Configuration window... Do I need to do something different?
  8. Yes, I do have a Default Profile for Gameex... I will try the "home" button, annd see if that is different. I will download the new version, and post again. These lighted buttons are the shiznit!
  9. One last thing... (hopefully) When scrolling through the "most played", and "favorites" lists, the buttons light up correctly, but when scrolling through the "last played", they do not. I think I remember reading that this was a problem with the way Gameex does something, but I wanted to mention it.
  10. Headkaze, I didn't know if you saw this post or not. I thought it might be relevant... Also, when I got to the Mame Gamelist, and then use the "back" button to return to the start page, the buttons for the last game I was on in the game list remain lit. I double-checked everything, and I don't think it's a mistake on my part.
  11. Hk, This scares the hell out of me...Your asking ME if this makes sense? I found these three examples. There is not an example of "alternating="1" mirrored="0", which makes sense, because you would have to mirror controls on an alternating game. Your logic: would light both sets of controls for "88 Games", so I believe you are right! <game romname="phoenix" gamename="Phoenix (Amstar)" numPlayers="2" alternating="1" mirrored="1" usesService="0" tilt="0" cocktail="1"> <game romname="88games" gamename="'88 Games" numPlayers="2" alternating="0" mirrored="1" usesService="0" tilt="0" cocktail="1"> <game romname="curvebal" gamename="Curve Ball" numPlayers="2" alternating="0" mirrored="0" usesService="0" tilt="0" cocktail="0">
  12. Clair - I hope my last post wasn't offensive... I was quoting a song by Gilbert O'Sullivan - Clair, from 1972. That's why I said I was dating myself. Did you get everything working?

    Simple Emulator

Try changing themes... If that doesn't work, post your Gameex.log
  14. I don't know if the guy still has it, or if it came with a cab but he's talking about throwing it in the garbage... http://forums.klov.com/ubbthreads/showflat...ge=0#Post865042 I watch Klov, and Craigslist in my area, It's not that unusual to find things like this. You have to be fast on Klov, or most of the time stuff will be gone. I don't know if anyone here has heard of it or not, but I use http://www.craigshelper.com/ to search for stuff.
  15. Whoops! If you want the Atari Pole Posistions I and II, the roms are polepos1, and poleps2a. So much for the definitive list! You will also need to set "No Clones" to "I Want Clones". If you have a "split set" don't forget to move the parent roms too! Edit: It looks like "Splendor Blast" shouldn't be on the list at all.
  16. WOW! I helped! That stuff could have been in Swahili, and it would have made just as much sense to me!
  17. Thanks for the offer HK, I finally figured it out this morning. Paint was converting it to 24 bit color when I saved the file. I converted the boot.bmp found in the Instant Sheller folder for vertical use. (one for 90, and one for 270) Vertical_Bootscreens.zip
  18. How about this? http://www.download.com/Force-Shutdown/300...4-10071175.html or...
  19. Disclaimer: I don't have a clue what I'm talking about. I googled, and I thought you, or someone else might find this helpful. The bold to the text was was added by me to highlight what I thought might be relevent, but may not mean anything.
  20. Is there a bootscreen available for rotated monitors? I have my monitor rotated so that the bottom of the monitor is to the left. While the computer is booting, everything is sideways, and doesn't get rotated until Gameex starts. I suck at graphics programs, even more than I do at everything else. Can anyone help me out? I know I can use any .bmp, but I would like to have the boot.bmp, that comes with instant sheller....

try: http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?sh...t=0&p=34965& And no, we will not help you find roms... please don't ask!
  22. Clair, the moment I met you, I swear... (I'm dating myself (I'm the only one who will put up with me! )) You need to run Romlister, click on "Settings and Tools", and browse for the three files at the bottom of thw window. In the first line, just point to your mame.exe. The second two lines ask for controls.xml, and catver.ini, both of these files can be found in "C:\Program Files\GameEx\DATA\". After you have those set, click on "Merge!", and Romlister will combine all three. I can't remember if you need to save the file or not, but it will prompt you if you need to. I believe that will aid you in achieving your goal...
  23. I'd like to ask for clarification on something..... I thought that you used the drop-down box to choose what type of system that you are compiling FOR, and the tick boxes for the type of sytem that you are compiling ON ... Is this not right? I thought I could compile faster if I compiled on my dual-core, 64bit computer (Optimized for a second P4 computer), but it didn't work, as usual, I can't remember why it didn't work, but when I finally gave up, and left all of the tick boxes unchecked, it compiled fine...
  24. Just to elaborate... You should always try to run things (videos, emulators, etc.) without Gameex first to see if they will work. If you can't watch your videos in Media Center (or whatever player you may have), then you will not be able to run them in Gameex. Either way we will try to help, but it helps us to know if things work outside of Gameex or not....
  25. Thanks for verifying that... As I said, I will probably use Bkenobi's Mame Loader, so that I can map my p2 buttons in mame for alternating games. The use of Multimame is also touched upon... (Who talks like that? ) HK - Does the LCD/LED Wiz read the information it needs on the fly? If not, then this may need a checkbox to enable it, so that it could be used with or without BK's Mame Loader. (I hope that makes sense.) Also, I think this feature may also be needed in the CPWizard.
