  1. THANKS!!!!! Works great. Much appreciated.
  2. No, this is currently not possible. What you are describing is a custom menu system. That's been requested many times before, but it is not currently implemented and I don't know where that is on Tom's priority list. On the other hand, I do have a suggestion that would be an interim solution. Rather than navigating to a menu for Nintendo, then selecting NES, then opening a game, you could have all of your Nintendo emulators listed next to each other. That would just require modifying the order you have your emulators set to (1, 2, 3, etc.). If you want to take it a step further, you could create an emulator called "-=Nintendo=-" that doesn't do anything and put it before the Nintendo consoles. Then, you could rename your emus to " NES", " SNES", " N64", etc. When they are listed in GameEx, they will show up like: -=Nintendo=- __NES __SNES __N64 (NOTE: The underscores are just for a place holder since the forum doesn't like leading spaces.)

    VIDEO STACKING

The internal player can't handle playlists? Maybe you mean it can't handle a playlist that combines the list into a single item? If not, ask for it in the features request thread.

    VIDEO STACKING

I've never seen that in XBMC. I've never looked either though. When I look at the files, they just show up as files in paths. Probably cause I've never spent that much time setting it up.
  5. The display number shouldn't change. Windows sets the display number based on the hardware connector it's plugged into...physically. The primary display can be switched, but the display number can't AFAIK. I haven't looked at how HK coded CPWizard in this respect, so maybe what you are saying is that he has it set to either the primary or secondary display rather then display 1 or display 2.
  6. phew! I was hoping I needed to turn it on. Will check it out later and let you know how it goes!
  7. Hmmm, I did an automatic update last night and tried a shutdown with a remote login. The message box popped up to the foreground immediately. Is there something I have to do to turn on the force shutdown switch (admittedly I didn't check since it was late and I thought it would work)? I know it works with the commandline "shutdown.exe -s -f -t 1". I imagine you are using a direct call rather than using the exe though. Is there anything else I can test out?
  8. I can only think of 2 possibilities that would cause this. 1) System specs are marginal/too low. Is your system capable of running the videos and GameEx? This would only likely be a problem if it's a really old system though. 2) What codec are you using for you previews? If you are not using the FFDSHOW codec that's available on the GameEx homepage, I wouldn't rule out the possibility that the codec isn't compatible. For example, at one point there was a version of the Divx codec that had a system tray icon that would steal focus from GameEx and break things. Other than those two, I can't think of anything else to check off the top of my head. I'm assuming the video plays correctly in Windows (outside of GameEx), correct?
  9. Cool, I'll give it a go!

    VIDEO STACKING

This is a bit beyond my scope of capabilities as I've never used GameEx for videos (other than previews). Hopefully someone else can provide some insight.

  12. Does moral support count as helping?
  13. Ok, no problem. The interim solution is to put "shutdown.exe -s -f -t 5" in the launch on exit line and Exiting GameEx rather than shutting down. This works ok for the most part, but it does cause one problem...I can't update GameEx automatically because it shuts the machine down. DOH!!!

    VIDEO STACKING

You want an individual video to show up on the home page for GameEx? If so, I think the only way would be to set up the video as an emulator or application with only that one file. If you have one file to do that way, it should work fine. If you want to do that with a bunch of videos, I would recommend setting things up differently.
  15. Did you install the manual viewer? It doesn't install automatically, you have to either install it manually or hit the right button during install.
  16. Nice! I noticed this pop up even before it made it on the forum. Did the forced shutdown switch sneak into this release? Just curious...
  17. MAMEUI has a setting just for this. If you go into the properties for MAMEUI, there's a screen for video options and one of them has a selection for what display you want to use. I haven't used it since it was called MAME32, but I'm sure it hasn't changed.

    MAME Database

Ok, who's a retard! <raises hand> I updated the list and the MAME database popped right up. Thanks for helping!
  19. The only way to do that is to compile your own version of MAME. Check out the MAME Compiler thread for an easy to use application and usage guide. I don't know if it will get rid of EVERY message, but if you go into the code prior to compiling, you can turn off other things using the same technique. MAME Compiler

    MAME Database

I thought I'd done an update recently. I'll do that first to make sure it's not something simple. Good suggestion.

    MAME Database

A few versions ago, Tom added a feature to automatically create a MAME database for use with other emulators that used the same rom files. I think this new database was supposed to be called [Arcade] MAME.mdb, but I can't remember exactly. In any case, I can't seem to figure out where this file has been created. I searched my whole hard drive for all .mdb files, yet it doesn't show up. I figured maybe this is a feature that must be enabled, but I can't seem to locate the option to turn it on either. Has anyone figured out how to get this working? Tom, am I missing something here?
  22. Must be hard to play pool without any lights Nice setup!

    VIDEO STACKING

I've seen in the past where a video file was somehow linked to play the next video in a series when it reached the end. I don't remember the type of file it was though. One option is to combine the videos into one. I didn't do an extensive search, but this one claims to be able to combine the videos without reencoding. That means it should be quick and have zero quality degradation.
  24. Of course it will! Wide screen monitors were only introduced in the last few years. Any arcade game that you play will have a 4:3 ratio meaning that you will have large bands on the sides. There is a potential fix for this though. It may be possible to make a custom bezel that will go on the sides so it has controller info or whatever you want sitting there at all times rather than boring black bars. For modern consoles, there is usually an option to play in wide screen. The problem there is those consoles aren't emulated yet
  25. Since KI is a Nintendo based rom, one option might be to group it with one of the other Nintendo emulators (probably the N64 since it's the closest set of hardware). You could always create a separate background for it, but it just seems like a bit of overkill personally. Nice job Flash! I'm looking forward to firing this up on my cab. I would appreciate if you could hurry it up...
