I'm guessing this would be a tough port since it relies heavily on .NET which isn't available for Linux. Also, I'm not sure but I don't think DirectX exists in Linux either.

I was just in Rapid City a couple weeks back. That's probably about as close as I'll get unless we visit in-laws (Chicago) or other family in southern Indiana...

Don't forget Future Pinball. FP is unique tables though, so if you have an inkling to play PinBot, you're out of luck.

I'm pretty sure there's more than 2 versions. I thought there was version 1.0, 2.0, and a couple sub versions in there as well. I don't do much with Daphne, but I recall there were several rom versions...

Are you sure the sound on your system or speakers isn't set really low? My system has the sound set low in GameEx and many games in MAME appear to have no sound even though they are set to maximum in the settings (hit ~ to adjust sound in game).

It also does some sort of a check sum based on an algorithm in MAME. That way if you have an old version of a rom that doesn't work with the current version of MAME, it won't be listed (since it's not playable.

There was a discussion about using MAME and kaillera with GameEx for this exact concept. The problem is that kaillera is highly frowned upon by the MAMEdevs. I don't understand all of the reasons (I think it's mostly source code related) and I don't know what transpired exactly here on the forums between the MAMEdevs and HK (as I recall), but basically the discussion ended by them saying it's a no go. They kindly asked us to stop considering the support and we agreed. I still think it's a cool concept, but it's not something that will be discussed on this forum. In MAME when you have a gun game loaded, hit tab and go to the analog settings. Change the sensetivity and you should be good to go. This is a per game setting, so you will need to adjust it for each game that has this problem.

One option is to make a loader for zinc. The script would call zinc and wait for it to quit. You would actually call this script from GameEx by pointing to it instead of zinc.exe. Since GameEx will expect an executable, you would need to compile the loader to an exe. The script should also contain the remapped keys and anything else you need in there. Since I don't think GameEx uses zinc in any way to check for valid roms, you shouldn't need to do anything special with it.

Just as an FYI, AHK looks a lot like AI and in some cases the code for AI is exactly the same. I don't understand why there are two camps that are more or less working on the same project, but that's the way it is. I've used AHK and not AI (just the one I started with, not that one is better than the other).

The roms are released for 3DO, so worst case you can't play them. At least you can look at the names. Having a long list of games is more important than being able to actually play them!

If you want to use another application to play videos as lalandev suspects, then you would want to set up the player as an external application or emulator. Set up the filter to only show the file types that application can handle. Then, set the command line to call the application and "rom" like you would another emulator. Make sure the application will launch and start playing upon command line call (that might be the sticking point). If it doesn't, you will probably need to use some kind of a loader script written in AHK for example. I don't see this as a big benefit for this (and it would probably look ugly), so I'm hoping you are asking about using the codec.
