  1. Hey, it's no problem. I was merely trying to help you get things set up in the most timely fashion. I just think there might be a better forum for that specific question is all. We do have LOTS of MAME specific questions that get answered pretty quickly (sometimes quicker than the dedicated MAME forums), but I just don't know the answer to that one myself. I used to have auto save enabled myself a while back, but then for some reason it just stopped working. I never looked into it enough to figure out why. I think I asked (or at least saw a thread asking about it) here, but there was never a resolution to my knowledge.
  2. GreatFlash didn't win did he? He's holding my new theme hostage in an unfinished state
  3. This isn't really a GameEx related question. There are a lot of smart people here who might be able to help, but you might try other forums that deal with MAME directly in parallel. It's not that people won't help you here because it's not a GameEx question, it's just that you might find your answer from a forum where MAMEdevs hang out quicker...
  4. I didn't know it worked with per game videos. I knew that worked with per game snaps though. HUH, guess I learned something new!
  5. I guess I don't understand what you are asking still. For MAME, every new version brings a new release of the ROM set. When you decide to update to a new version of MAME, all you do is update the program itself and put the updated ROM set wherever you keep the ROMs. If there are any newer support files available (catver.ini, controls.ini, nplayer.ini, etc.), it wouldn't hurt to update those too. Then, run GameEx and hit "Update List". It will take care of everything for you. I'm not sure about your jukebox, but I don't think it works the same. I believe when you load the list, it checks to see if it needs updating or if the info that's cached is accurate. If it's out of date, it recaches and continues. Someone more familiar with the jukebox (which I don't use) could probably answer more convincingly. Did I answer your question?
  6. Yup, that's going to happen. There's no way around that at the moment. It is possible to get rid of the info screen if you hit TAB and go to the video options menu. Turn off bezels or overlays (I forget which one it is) and the info bar will go away.
  7. Ahhh, that's a different question. I think that would have to be a feature request.
  8. You should be able to press the coin button in MAME to start that game. It should take it out of demo mode and GameEx should not kill it like it would if you press any other button. I'm not sure about console games though. It seems like that would be an obvious need, so I'm sure Tom has done something to make that work.
  9. EVERYTHING is editable in MUGEN. I don't know how to do anything unfortunately, but if JCGamer is still with us, he can definitely point you in the right direction anyway.
  10. Actually, this is the only V4 theme that anyone has finished and uploaded in the time period for the contest (unless Tom extends it again). I suspect that you would have a pretty good shot at winning that contest if you alert Tom to the upload!
  11. Blank video probably means the codec for that file is not set up correctly or not installed at all. Make sure you can view the video outside of GameEx prior to trying to incorporate it in the FE. You will end up with more hair on your head if you do it that way!
  12. If your videos are encoded at a lower resolution than your screen, I don't think you can get them to run in full screen through GameEx. Videos that are too large should get scaled down, but I don't think GameEx will scale up. The only option you have is to reencode your videos to at or above your screen resolution. I don't have a suggestion for a good app to use for this unfortunately. I don't know what source you are looking at playing, but if they are low resolution, then blowing them up will introduce blocky artifacts. If possible, you would be better off trying to locate a higher resolution version of the source video.
  13. That rotates GameEx and all games in MAME as well. I think the problem here is that only some games are rotated. If that's correct, then it *shouldn't* be related to that setting in GameEx.
  14. As long as you aren't Tempest, we should be good!
  15. Although poor control adjustments can be annoying, there is always a work around. If you use a game pad or a game pad encoder (GP-Wiz for example), then you can use XPadder to remap inputs to keystrokes. If you use a keyboard or a keyboard encoder (IPAC for example), then you can use an AHK script to remap key strokes to other keys or just edit your IPAC config if possible. Nothing is impossible!
  16. I've used it in the past. Actually, that was the first major set I installed way back when (that and Real Alternative and Quicktime Alternative). It worked fine back in the day, but it seems to have issues with GameEx and it doesn't include all the codecs that are typically used. CCCP is a more complete set AFAIK and works fine with GameEx.
  17. I suppose that's possible. I thought the icons were cached, so it shouldn't be pulling that many of them at once. You shouldn't have more than ~20 displayed at once unless you have a Hi-Res theme, right?
  18. I'm currently using CCCP as well, but there are a few others that people have mentioned. HK recommends Vista????pack as I recall because it give you 64-bit support. But, if you just use the one on the main site, you should be golden for anything GameEx needs.
  19. You didn't mention it before, so I didn't think to suggest it. One common reason people have strange minimizing problems is that some versions of the official Divx codec have a system tray icon that pops up and steals focus. If you disable video snaps, do you still have a problem? If not, try using the FFD Show codec on the main GameEx page.
  20. Any chance you are running video snaps?
  21. Well, GameEx will minimize if something else takes focus. It can either be a dialog, a program, alt-tab (or another hot key combination like alt-space, alt-escape, alt-enter, etc...), or any number of other things. The thing to figure out is what's stealing focus. If it's not sticky keys, then you could try killing all non-necessary processes with the task manager. It shouldn't still do it if it's another program. If it does, it must be a key combo. Try hitting different combinations until you narrow it down. Then, figure out what the button is sending. I don't know the Ipac since I don't have one, but you could upload your .ipc file to let people who do know it check it out.
  22. Could be Bob, could be Ben, some days it's Bo-bo.
  23. Is that a tech support call center in your basement or is it just your wife's 900 business? Seriously though, yes I understand that you could just use bigger more modern drives. I'm just thinking that most people are limited to the amount of money they can throw at their hobbies. I personally would have a hard time justifying purchasing 2 extra drives that will be used for ~1% of their space or less just to get an extra 1% performance boost. Okay, I might be exaggerating, but you see what I mean. I personally would at least put the system on one drive and the data on another. It helps to avoid corruption as well.
  24. You could replace the link file with a batch file that changes the directory and then launches the .exe.
  25. I would guess (and did guess originally) that this is a file corruption issue. An undetected bad sector of your HDD could explain how the file became corrupted. I would run a utility to check all sectors on your drive (one by one) and have it mark all bad ones. If there's more than just a few, you might look into getting a new drive before you lose all your data.
