  1. I thought the fact that hacking the files without a GUI made us 73313 or something. That way we could claim we were cooler than the other kids on the playground. Bah, I guess we can help though if that's really how you want to go with this...
  2. Damn it Tempest! You know that half the fun of emulation is hacking around inside unintelligible, undocumented, cryptic files to try to get something basic working. This GUI is just one more step to kill off the fun!
  3. You might try using Omega drivers instead of the NVidia ones. They enable some things that the official drivers don't. I don't know if these drivers will affect this functionality of the TV output, but you might give it a try.
  4. Just to clarify... When you run the runitgame.bat file, you are able to play the game without problem?
  5. I've been using my 7 button CP for consoles for a while now and never really thought it felt right. I recently gave up and purchased a pair of gamepads. I just got Project64 set up last night and all I can say is WOW! Things work SOOOOO much better when you have a good controller. I guess that makes sense since most of cabinet building is (or at least should be) focussed on the CP. It shouldn't seem foreign to think that consoles would be the same.
  6. Yeah, I've tried running without the Logitech software and they just don't function. Perhaps I should ask Logitech customer service to see if there's a way around it. I've already added it to my login script and it doesn't seem to cause any problems, so I don't know if it makes that much difference. It would definitely be better without it if possible though.
  7. Please post the entire log file. Also, if it's a new problem you are allowed to start your own topic. You don't have to dig up an old one if you don't want...
  8. I was using XPadder to remap everything (except MAME of course). I had everything set up to use the same set of keys so I only needed one profile. I'll probably do the same now when possible. Btw, have you found any way to use your Logitech pads without the Logitech software running? I like to keep as few programs running as possible to keep things clean and simple. When I try to use the pads without the software though, it acts like the gamepads don't work (they show up, but they don't respond).
  9. Thanks for the input. That's probably the best way to do it since both systems had similar titles. I'll give this a try, thanks! Btw, do you use the Logitech software to map buttons or do you use something else (the emulator, XPadder, Pinnacle, etc)?

Really?! I can wait then I keep getting stuck messing with the stupid little things lately rather than getting the majority of stuff set up. I spent a good 2 hours looking around for this stuff on Saturday when I should have just moved on to getting all the other emulators reconfigured. Then on Sunday I spent an hour with Gens32 trying to decide what buttons to map where. I really should have just gotten all my MAME versions going and then knocked off the low hanging consoles. BAH!!!
  11. Logitech includes a profiler application that is actually required in order to use the game pads. My question was more on the lines of what buttons do you assign to what? There are 4 buttons on the controller whereas the Sega controllers had 3 or 6. What buttons do you have set to what (not what do you use to map them)?
  12. So I'm just starting to play around with my Rumblepads. I was just about to set up my Sega games when I realized that the gamepad has 4 buttons whereas Sega games had either 3 or 6. There's also the 4 shoulder buttons availble, so I'm not limited on buttons, but they aren't in the original location. Anyway, I was just curious if anyone has any input on how they map their Sega games with a Rumblepad. I'm excited to get N64 going since I'll finally have analog controls! I'm just not sure about Sega... I'm going to do a search over at BYOAC next, but I thought I would ask here too.
  13. You should be able to use the TV out at the same time as the other 2 connections IF you have the TV display the same thing as one of the other two monitors. I can't guarantee this will work, but I'm virtually positive it should be possible to set it up that way. I'd give it a try before you buy a bunch of expensive hardware. Either way, you're going to need an S-Video cable, so you might as well give it a shot and see what happens. You can't hurt anything by just plugging it in.

Yup, Romlister can do it. In fact, that's how I've done this in the past. I was mainly just providing HK with feedback since he suggested giving it a try. Btw, I was thinking about what you said earlier today and realized what you meant by "your plan is crap!" I wasn't thinking about how CP Wizard would grab the config data when I thought about my scheme, so really it won't work at all. I'll have to get all the games set up the way I did before by manually configuring each one. It's not a HUGE hassle, just not as easy as a ctrl file if I could use a single entry for 5 or 6 button games. I like the idea of your script, but I don't know if it will help since it requires that the game already have a config set up for it. Ehhh, I'll get to it later since I have other systems that need work too.

I checked out the program this morning and am really impressed! It doesn't help me with my project since I can't output a list of games that have exactly 5 and 6 buttons, but it's useful for reference.

    Is this compatible with WinXP?
  18. This is a manual process where Tom creates your registry key for you and sends it. It's not automated, so time zones definitely come into play!

I was actually just playing with things this morning and had a question. If I want to use an alternate version of mame.ini for specific games, can I make one called "mame-alternate.ini" and somehow call it? I know I can have 1942.ini for example, but I want to be able to call it for a set of games. I'm thinking I could have a different config directory or a different rom folder without having to set up a whole new version of MAME for example.
  21. Like I said, it will work fine with S-Video. They sorta conform to the S-Video standard except they add the center pins to carry extra info. You can just plug an S-Video cable into it and straight into the TV. The only problem might be if they modified the key on the DIN. If so, then you will need an adapter, but the pin layout should work without it. Good luck! EDIT: Here's a link to the standard S-Video pinout. http://pinouts.ru/Video/SVideo_pinout.shtml

Yup, I found that article. I haven't had a problem with CP Wizard working with the MAME_Loader script so far. I primarily use it to show keys before the game launches and that works fine. Pause brings up the CP for standard MAME, but I don't recall if it's a problem for the other versions. I'll have to check that next time I remember...
  23. For reference, most commands in AutoIt will work fine in AHK. The reason (from what I've read) is that syntax is backwards compatible so that people will feel comfortable switching over to AHK if desired. I think many of the functions are even the same!

Ahhh, I understand. I don't use LED's on my cab, so I didn't realize the ctrl files didn't work the same with LEDWiz. I think I know how to make ctrl files now (just rename the default.cfg file in the cfg dir after changing global settings and move it to ctrl). I don't know if my way will work, but I was just thinking that modifying one ctrl file for all 5 button games and one for all 6 button games would be a bit easier than running a script to change everything. The only draw back is that I need to come up with a list of games that are mapped a certain way. This isn't truly a big deal since I just need to add it to a txt file when a new one is encountered, though. Anyway, I'm going to check out your script to see what you're doing. I enjoy looking at code....yes, I admit it!
  25. If it's an s-video output, then it will work on any TV with s-video inputs. The only other TV out that's ever used (on US cards anyway) is an RCA. Many video cards these days use a 7-pin din that has the 4 outer pins mapped to the same location as an s-video needs and the 3 inner pins for RCA and/or Component. If you have one of these cards it may be necessary to have an adapter cable to use s-video, but not usually. Either check the docs for your card or plug a cable in and find out what happens. You may need to turn on the TV output in your drivers, so seeing nothing when you plug a cable in doesn't necessarily mean anything.
