nc4nik8ing, Go into the Windows Control Panel and then Devices and Printer. If some of the devices have names, look them up. You may be able to figure out what is there. Also, if you could post your Gemex.ini and Log.txt file, that usually has some info on the PC setup. Otherwise, you may want to contact the person you bought it from to get some background. Many people who get into this hobby love to talk about their builds. The seller might be happy to give you some info on the setup.

@Tom Speirs I think what Evil is referring to is that GameEx is not offering the option to autoupdate when it is opened. @Evilforces The manual download is available HERE if you 'gotta have it' now.

Starting over with new files really is a last resort, but if you feel that you have reached that point it may be best. From the filename in your GameEx.ini, it looks like you are using the official mame executable for 161, so it does make me question the validity of your set. Also, if you are considering using other flavors of Mame like MamePlus, MameUI, etc I suggest getting your setup working with the official Mame build first. Then when you start fiddling with the other flavors, you always have a working setup to fall back to. Personally, I trust the official mame guys a little more than some of the outfits that take their builds and integrate them into their own thing.

I am using v161 allowing for only Working Games without Adult, Mahjong, Casino, and Clones and my list is about 2100. That's with 30,000 files. I don't know how reasonable that number is, but it is pretty rare when I cannot find a game that I expect to see in the list. Are you 100% certain that your mame and roms are the same version? You haven't 'upgraded' your set by copying files for a v161 update to an older set and 'calling' it a v161 set (or anything like that...because that will not work).

Hi moeb, The Mame System pack contains lots of pretty pictures to make your GameEx experience cooler, but it isn't related to what games show up in the list. This is most likely related to a mismatched version between your Mame and Roms. Make certain the rom set is 161 and the Mame version is 161. If they do not match, it can lead to 'missing games' due to incompatibility. Note, you can use different flavors of mame as long as the versions match (such as Mame161, MameUI161, MamePlus161, MameTacos161, etc).

There is a pre-programmed option within gameex. I have not used it, but maybe it will fit your needs. From looking it over, it sounds like it makes the x-arcade look like a joystick. I would assume as long as the emulator allows configuration to a gamepad or stick, this will work. https://support.xgaming.com/support/solutions/articles/12000003063-gameex-frontend-and-the-x-arcade I used to have an old x-arcade single stick, butnot long ago I yanked the guts out and put in an ipac. When I used it as an x-arcade, I would set it to programmable mode and set the buttons/stick to whatever key I wanted. Either way, no change to the command line of the emulator would be needed.

Is there any chance that you have a different FTP that you can test with? ...or, perhaps you might want to try Filezilla...

@meshflesh I know you have essentially tabled the controllers for now, but I thought I would do some more testing since I do have the wireless receiver. I put the receiver on my main PC that I normally only do wired controllers...and I am pretty darned convinced that there are some issues with the XboxOne Receiver drivers or a conflict between those drivers and other gmaepad drivers. One thing I did not realize before was that when the receiver is used the gamepads will not show up as their own hardware in the Devices & Printers. Instead, the XBox Receiver is 'controlling' all of the XboxOne wireless controllers. When wired, windows treated them as separate gamepads and I think that is the reason why those operate correctly (much like the Xbox360 gamepads). I also found some inconsistencies when connecting the controllers wirelessly. For instance, after installing the receiver I initally set up Button1 (A) as Select in the GameEx Setup Wizard. I also confirmed that Button1 on the controller was indeed Button1 in the Device Properties of the Gamepad (under the receiver); but when I used the controller in GameEx, Select was assigned to Button 2 (B). When I exited GameEx and unplugged the receiver and connected the gamepad via USB, it did the same thing. I then removed the controller, rebooted, plugged the controller back in via USB, and Select worked on Button1 (A) as GameEx is configured. Then, I unplugged the USB on the controller, plugged in the receiver again, and connected the same controller wirelessly...and Select was Button1 (A) for the USB and Wireless. So this time it was working right with no real change on my part. I originally set up my other PC (my MediaPC/CouchPotatoBox) via USB, added wireless later, and setup GameEx. Since then, I haven't changed anything except to connect and disconnect controllers wirelessly. Maybe I have just been luckier than you or maybe Windows10 has some issues with the drivers that Windows7 does not have. Sadly, it still does not explain the wiping of the CustomInput.ini file. However, if you do decide to set those up again, you might consider setting that file to read only once you have it set up. GameEx and the SetupWizard will not crash. It's not a perfect solution, but it would work for until you or someone else comes up with a way to replicate the issue.

The GameEx Online website is working fine for me. You might try changing your forum password and then log out of the forum and back in. Then try the GameEx Online website again. Since they use the same login/password, perhaps it will correct the issue. If it is still doing the same thing, I suggest you drop Tom Speirs a PM about it so he can look at it from the back end.

Hi Nikolash, What happens if you try to log into GameEx Online via the link at the top of the page?

My PC is not powerful enough to run carnevil well at all. There was skipping audio and I did not have a gun to calibrate, but I was able to get to the intro screen, so I can say it works. Like @Draco1962 said above (and he's a pretty smart cookie), making sure the mame, rom, and chd are all the same version is very important. That and a strong PC should get you there. How you insure that your files are correct is up to you (and as said above, beyond the scope of this forum). One aspect of this hobby is that there is a learning curve and a information ceiling of sorts...so you have to do a lot trial and error. It's all part of the game. @JosieSweet By the way, what are the computer prerequisites for carnevil to run well?

You may want to try reinstalling GameEx over your existing install. You normally don't need to back up any files, but until you know why it is happening I would play it safe and back up your GameEx.ini, CustomInput.ini, CustomMenu.ini, and your theme (if you made your own, which if I recall, you may have).

No problem. Thanks for clarifying it. Also, if you have more than one issue and you are reasonably certain they are unrelated, it is often better to create a separate thread for each. It can make troubleshooting a bit easier since all of the conversation is related to one issue. No worries though. There are several sets of eyes looking this over now.

The 'shaking' issue sounds similar to what was going on in this thread. In that thread, I was able to replicate the shaking when GameEx was set to full screen, but then it "corrected itself" during my testing. Where the thread was left was that I felt it needed another tester to try and replicate the issue. If mgede says that by enabling/disabling custom menus the issue can be made to go away, that is some helpful info.
